Review Twisted sisters is the really enjoyable second book in the Orion Circle series but it is also dark and has some disturbing themes. It is very fast read with action, romance and drama. Unlike the last book this has the POV from both Kacie and Logan.
Kacie has grown in strength and confidence since the last book and is determined to help others in any way she can. I like that we got to know Logan better, as in the previous book it felt like he was mostly there just for the romance, we have learned how protective, quick tempered and sensitive he is. I also like that Logan and Kacie’s romance was normal, as they have issues in this book and are not stating their undying love after only dating two months. I like the comradery between the Orion Circle and how they were there for each other.
I really liked this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series and other books Kimber Leigh Wheaton writes next. I would recommend Twisted Sisters to fans of the first book in the Orion Circle series Tortured Souls.
This book wasn't quite as scary as the first, but not less entertaining! Maybe it wasn't so scary because the ghosts weren't actually evil, just really angry victims, which they were every right to be! I had a hard time trying to determine which evil monster was sicker and crueler, but I didn't manage a decision! I missed Celia in this book and there were a few things that bothered me, like, Logan mention one's on the first book that his mother was pregnant, but there's no other mention of that, also, that dead sister story just came out of the blue and what's bother me more is that even when it's hinted, there is no sign of another books on this series and it makes it feel incomplete!

Fast Paced.Enticing.Twisted
Oh My ! This is from a far one of the most twisted, crazy and great YA fantasy book I've read so far, not to mention Sequel.
How can I even begin to describe this book ?! I am not even past all the crazy things that happened in this book. We have the same lovable characters but only stronger than before, who are being called in to a sorority house to deal with some extremely enraged and insane ghosts. Three sorority sisters that were brutally murdered about 30 years ago by an even more crazy college/university professor. In order to cross them all three over they have to pass some crazy sorority test. What they are about to find out is that they are not the only ones with psychic powers. Their anger and outrage makes them even more powerful than all of the Orion Circle's psychic power altogether.
Will Kacie get the chance pf sending them into the light and end all of their misery ? You'll have to read the book and find out. All I can tell you is that Kacie will get possessed again.
I received an eARC when I signed up to host the book tour. I made no guarantee of a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and my own.
This is not a stand alone so Tortured Souls should be read first. This is a fast paced and exciting read full of paranormal elements and it contains just the right amount of romance to captivate you. The story line is well written and the characters are easy to relate to. The entire gang returns in this sequel plus a few new friends. Want to know what happens and what the consequences are for playing around with a ouija board? Then I highly recommend you read this YA book that's full of thrills and chills.
I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.
Unlike others I didn’t have to wait for the second book of The Orion Circle Twisted Sisters to come out. I got to read both books back to back. I was very lucky to have been able to read the first book Tortured Souls and then the second book Twisted Sisters. But on the other hand I do wish I would have read Tortured Souls way before I did. But that is water under the bridge as they say at least I got to read it.
I loved reading about Kacie and Logan in Tortured Souls and am very glad to see them back in Twisted Sisters along with all of their friends as well as a few new friends from The Orion Circle. In Twisted Sisters we have these two sorority sisters who buy an Ouija board. What harm can it cause? It is a child’s toy right? Well not for these two. When they get the board and long with their refreshments for their little party of two it ends up being more than just the two of them at their little party. When they call upon the spirit world they open up a portal for three sisters that were killed in the house around forty years ago. The sisters have been banished before but they are stuck in the between world like on another plane. They are really upset about what happened to them when they died and have not forgiven anyone for their deaths which in a way you can’t blame them. So the sisters want revenge for what happen to them and they want someone to pay and they don’t care who it is.
While everyone in The Orion Circle are trying to figure out how to help the sisters and get them to move on. Kacie and Logan have a little trouble in paradise which also includes Logan’s best friend Daniel. Logan sees Kacie and Daniel doing that he can’t believe his eyes. He sees them in a compromising position that just breaks his heart. He can’t believe that they would do this to him. So instead of waiting to confront them and find out what is going on he just walks out ignores it or tries too. But he is so hurt he can’t ignore it and he lets it over take him and almost cost him his life when goes to investigate what is going on at the sorority house.
The circle has a hard time with these sisters trying to convince them to cross over. Can they help the sisters come to terms with what happened to them so that they can cross over and live in peace? Will Kacie and Logan be able to fix what their miss understanding and patch things up between the two of them? Will their love for one another be strong enough to overcome this obstacle? Pick up your copy of Twisted Sisters to find out. You will in no way regret it.
I would like to say that I am so glad that I got to read both Tortured Souls and Twisted Sisters and can’t wait to read more about Kacie and Logan’s story as well as find out more about the other characters in The Orion Circle. This has been an amazing ride for me one that I am so glad that I took and can’t wait for more. Kimber knows how to put words on paper so that you can see them playing out like a movie inside your head. I plan on checking out more of this author’s works. Thanks for a great story.
Twisted Sisters is the second novel in Kimber Leigh Wheaton’s Orion Circle series and is another well written and paced adventure that sees our main characters back to investigate another ghostly haunting.
Having previously introduced readers to Kacie, Logan and their friends that make up the Orion Circle, a band of teenage ghost hunters who have supernatural and physic abilities, Kimber Leigh Wheaton embarks on a new ghostly adventure when the Orion Circle are called in to investigate a haunting after two sorority sisters use an Ouija board only to bring back the ghosts of three long dead murder victims. Racing against the clock to help the ghosts find peace before they kill, Kacie, Logan and their friends must discover the truth about their murders if they ever hope to set the spirits free…..
Though this is the sequel in the Orion Circle series, I do believe it could be read as a standalone novel, although for the best reading experience I recommend reading the first novel Tortured Souls beforehand. Twisted Sisters is well written and has a solid foundation. The storyline is one easily read and Wheaton writes an engaging story. The ghost hunting aspect is nicely written and flows beautifully. I believe the characters know what they’re talking about and they clearly have talent.
I actually found myself enjoying this second novel in the series more than the first; Kacie and Logan seemed secure in their relationship and I thought the ongoing dynamic between all the characters was fantastic. I admit I was thrown at first with all the different people and struggled to recall them and their position in the first book, but I quickly found it was easy to follow them in Twisted Sisters regardless. I feel invested in all their individual hints of romances and relationships together. Just what is going on between Rebecca and Carl? And when will Blake and Raven admit they’re nuts about each other?
Twisted Sisters is quite a fun story. Kimber Leigh Wheaton references Scooby-Doo and Mystery INC in this book and funnily enough, this is the overall feel this story has. It has that light who-done-it feel that sees the characters mix physic abilities with science and investigating to attend to the ghosts.
Quick and fun, Twisted Sisters is definitely worth a read and leaves me wondering what will happen to the gang next. Especially after Logan’s devastating vision that revealed that one of the characters’ lives is in grave danger…..

I read the first book, TORTURED SOULS, a little while back and found this second book in the series not only a nice continuation but even better than the first.
When I picked this up, my memories of what happened in book one were shady at best (the first book came out in 2014, so it's been awhile). Still, I had no trouble diving into this book and didn't feel like there were many gaping holes in the background which needed to be filled to understand what was going on. In other words, this can be read as a stand alone.
The Orion Circle is a group of paranormal hunters whose members each of psychic powers. Kacie, the main character, has embraced her powers...after book one...and has settled in nicely. She's ready to take on anything even if it scares her and realizes how important it is to count on her friends. Her character is down to earth, easy to like and fun to cheer for. The only tiny thing which left me a little hanging was that I was never sure how far her powers went or exactly what they were. But this is probably one of those holes left over from not remembering everything in book one.
The other main character, Logan, is Kacie's boyfriend. He's a sweet guy who also is ready to take things on. Like Kacie, he's fairly level headed, and although he can charge into things, he usually doesn't do so without some sort of plan. Together, the two make a cute couple whose romance has ups and downs without going over the top. It's enjoyable.
Fast-paced is a great word for this book. There's never a boring moment, and the heroes definitely have their hands full. I loved the ghosts. Not only are they pretty vicious (which really jacks up the tension), but each has their own background story. The danger always mounted, and it was never clear how the Orion Circle would deal with the problem. . .or if they could deal with it. There were a couple tiny things which didn't quite feel believable, but by no means anything large enough to ruin the story. Also, there was an 'issue' between Kacie and Logan early on which didn't work for me; Logan's reaction was a bit too extreme for me to swallow. And although this moment was somewhat used later in the plot, it was more of a weak spot for me. But in general, the story is simply fun and easy to read in one sitting. And yes, I fevered for the characters and can't wait to see more of them.
Summed up, this is a story YA paranormal fans will enjoy. It's a pretty fast ride (short at 170 pages) and tense enough not to let go until one hits that last page. The characters are addicting, and with the promise of many more fun stories to come, I'd say this is a series one shouldn't overlook.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my this was really good! I loved this book. Kimber Leigh Wheaton has a way with words for sure. Her characters and the paranormal aspects are written so extremely well that you can't put the book down. Twisted Sisters is the 2nd book in The Orion Circle series, with Tortured Souls being the first book in the series.
This follows Kacie, Logan and the whole Orion Circle after the Foxblood Demon. Kacie is still the shy, yet bold girl from book 1. I enjoyed seeing her grow and come into her powers. Logan is still hot headed, but I totally loved seeing a vulnerable side of him throughout the book. He was knocked down many times, both emotionally and physically. I also love that Logan got himself his own familiars. I enjoyed every single character in the Orion Circle because they all were able to feel defeated a few times in this book, but never gave up.
The spirits in this book were unlike the Foxblood Demon. They were three sorority sisters: Tracy, Amy and Renee, who were tortured and killed in their sorority house by their beloved professor. Their story has unbelievably insane! I couldn't believe how these girls were killed. Once more, I couldn't believe that Tracy had so much hatred. The girls came back through a spirit board and decided to wreck havoc on the girls in their sorority house.
I love how Kacie was determined to help these women cross over. Thankfully two of them did cross over. Tracy seemed to be the worst of them all, but after learning about her journal and finding out her relationship with the crazy professor I can see why she'd be so angry with everyone. I enjoyed Angela as well, being that she was the only person alive during the time of the sorority sisters murder.
There was so much action, love and drama within this book that it kept me on my toes. It wasn't as creepy and scary as Tortured Souls (the first book), but it was just as good. It was a great quick read and thoroughly enjoyed it! If you're into YA paranormal, supernatural or mystery books I definitely recommend this and the whole series.
This is the second book in a series, and should be read after TORTURED SOULS.
4.5 Stars
Kacie, Logan and Daniel are back, this time dealing with a severe sorority house haunting. 40 years ago four members of a sorority were drugged by a psychology professor, and three of them were murdered. While time has passed these three souls have been maturing and getting stronger. Their sense of loss and fury has been harnessed into severe aggression.
When two of the current residents decide to "play" with a Ouija board, they unleash a boat-load of malevolence.
Logan's injured, and not just by the ghosts. Nope, he's pretty sensitive that Kacie (his girlfriend) and Daniel (his best friend) are starring in the school play that forces them to have a big 'ol kiss. This distraction leads Logan into unnecessary peril--and he's lucky to get help when he needs it.
Kacie's channeling the spirits, but also dealing with the survivor's guilt. How would it feel to know that your mistake led to the torture and death of three of your good friends? Living with that burden is rough.
I liked the teamwork displayed int he Orion Circle. They have excellent communication, and intriguing talents, from telekinesis to psychic powers, to spirit mediums, to persuasion, these kids (and their adult assistants) are a motley but interesting bunch. I sometime think there are TOO many characters, but the author does a good job of only focusing on 1-3 of them at a time. This story was less about Kacie (like TORTURED SOULS) than Logan, and I expect another book will focus more on Raven and Blake (vampire huntress and werewolf, respectively).
The story rolls on, with excellent pacing and vivid descriptions. Expect to have the horror flick vibe, this reads like a movie in many ways. This is a YA paranormal adventure, with a DASH of romance, so it's clean of all but kisses, and filled with blood-thirsty villainy and dangerous ghosts.
** I received this Ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my review at all. **
I was so excited to see that Kacie and the rest of the Orion Circle's story continued! This book was a little bit different as it was mostly from Logan's POV. We still had Kacie's POV every once in a while, but Logan was the main character and he definitely took us on a wild ride.
This plot was about a group of Sorority girls who had been brutally murdered and were stuck at their sorority house. They had been "re-awakened" when some current, present time sorority girls bought an ouija board and awakened the spirits. In comes the Orion Circle. They were tasked with assisting the spirits into the next plane and it wasn't an easy task.
I found in the first book, I really liked Logan's character but was starting to feel a bit different as the story progressed. It almost seemed like Logan was getting to be more of a baby than he had been at the beginning. However, the more I read and the more he came to his senses, the more I liked him again. I really enjoy his character, Kacie, Blake, and Raven and I enjoyed they had a chance to grow in this book. I'm hoping we get to see more of them as the series continues.
As I kept reading this book, it reminded me of Meg Cabot's Mediator series and I loved that about it! It was similar enough that my interest was piqued at the beginning, yet different enough that it wasn't the same story and I was able to garner new things from it. I really enjoyed the book and I can't wait for the next one!!
this is such a fun great ya paranormal. I wish each book wasn't just focused on one case so we can see how each character developes. I guess this book could go on for ages with each characters coming into magic story. I think the romantic connection between our two main characters doesn't develope in this strict ya role. a chaste kiss to me doesn't scream forever and the other brothers word princess is more awkward than a maybe love triangle. all in all I enjoyed this book and will continue the series
The book is aptly titled. This book is about three truly twisted sorority sisters spirits who are filled with anger and even hatred at times that haven’t moved on and the group is called in to help them to the light.
Of the three spirits there is only one that is truly twisted in hate, anger and guilt the other two are following her lead. That one is Tracy and when you read why in the end you can understand where her anger is from. Wow that girl has some serious ghostly issues. You want to feel for her but you can’t because she just does some horrible things to Logan and the Orion Circle.
First the first book Tortured souls should be read before this so you can get a understanding of the characters and what the Orion Circle is. If you don’t get to read that book this is still a fun entertaining read. Logan and Kacie are having some issues at the beginning but nothing they can’t work out. A misunderstanding occurs and this is used by one of the twisted girls to hurt him. We get a werewolf added to the Orion circle named Blake and I am interested in his past. Particularly the one with Logan and Logan’s sister??? This has me curious for it has Logan on edge.
Daniel and the gang is also in the book and we see them beginning to pair off it seems as couples. All of them are entertaining especially daniel in his drama ways. He you will feel for the most after you hear about his dad. Bad dad bad. We see Kacie’s dad get closer to the doctor in the circle and Kacie is going to have to deal with that soon.
In this book though we have some sorority girls who play around with a spirit board and unleash some very angry sisters from the past. One is wracked with guilt, one is there for we really don’t know truly and the other is just angry so so angry. She fuels the other two and wow together they reek havoc. Logan is in the cross fires for most of the havoc too. Poor guy on top of his hurt feelings he is thrown around by some angry spirits.
As we are entertained by this group once again and these angry spirits, we learn more about what happened to these three girls and it is a tale for the X-files. Scully and Mulder here still for this is one they would enjoy.
I love Logan and his honesty. His kindness and his protectiveness is displayed here. Kacie is the center of the abilities to move these spirits on. She is strong and stubborn as she was in the first book but now boosted with more confidence and support. Logan is her anchor really the two of them are psychically linked and I hope that they never become like Tracy says because they are so cute together and make a great team. Together their powers are practically unbeatable and protect all around them.
This is a fun entertaining fast paced book with great characters that have you laugh and smile as they learn about what is keeping these three twisted sorority sister spirits around and how they move them on to the light. Wonderfully written and truly entertaining is this book and with Blake added in the mix we get a little conflict as well with a mystery into his past with Logan. This thus far has been a great and entertaining series and I look forward to reading the next in the series to see where these characters take us and what adventure they will go on next.
Twisted Sisters is the sequel to "Tortured Souls" and if you haven't read the first novel I suggest you do. However, a reader can begin the series with Twisted sisters as the author does a good job in filling in a reader as to what you may have missed or forgotten from the previous novel. This novel is definitely fast paced and is more upper young adult based on graphic content as the characters with special supernatural abilities seek out the paranormal. Think "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" meets "Supernatural" plus "Scooby-Do" and this series is kinda like all that mushed together.
The Orion Circle finds themselves helping a local sorority house, Rho Gamma Pi, when two girls decide to tempt spirits by playing with a "child's" game. The result is three menacing spirits who begin tearing the house apart and harming people inside. Logan is sent to help aided by Kacie and Daniel, but when the ghosts seem to feed off ones fears no ones appears to be safe. Especially when Logan is dealing with his own personal issues concerning his relationship with Kacie and trust in Daniel after he witnessed something he can't stop reliving in his mind over and over.
Overall, I enjoyed the sequel. However, I wished Kacie and Logan's relationship had not been tested. They're solid couple and having Logan question they're authenticity made him look insecure and kinda petty. If I hadn't read the first book perhaps I'd have been okay with this bump in the road. Though I did enjoy the duel perspective of having Logan and Kacie's views specifically since they each dealt with the ghosts differently. Also I must mention that I'm still on the fence about how I feel in regards to how Logan is always caught in situation were its either do his duty or save his girl. Now most novels have the guy forsake duty to save girl or be really fiction like and win by doing both. So having Logan do the opposite of the norm leaves me with mixed feelings, because either I'm glad for a male for believing in his girl to survive on her own or mad that he may not be the true man for her by trying to save her sooo yeah I'm conflicted. Anyways, so if you want to jump into a new series where teens with supernatural powers investigate the supernatural even at the cost of facing pure evil, then this series is good to get into.
**I received a free copy in return for an honest review**
Twisted Sisters is the sequel I have been waiting forever since reading Tortured Souls last Halloween. I absolutely loved Tortured Souls and I went in to Twisted Sisters with high hopes. I was not disappointed in fact, I was enthralled from the moment I started the prologue. I could not put this book down, the stakes were high, and the ghosts were terrifying. Watching Kacie, Logan and the rest of the Orion Circle try to battle three angry spirits had me nervously chewing my nails the entire time.
Kacie and Logan’s relationship while tested in Twisted Sisters, I can only say grew stronger by the end. I would say that if not for that strength, I am not sure Kacie and Logan would have had any chance against the spirits. At least together, they could try to protect each other and their friends. I am interested to see how their newish relationship progresses in the next installment of the Orion Circle series.
The biggest things that had me on edge was the hints at a past negative history between some of the circle members and a premonition that could lead to an even bigger battle to come in the next installment. I am on my seat waiting to see what Kimber Leigh Wheaton does with the future of this series. If the stakes continue to rise like they did in Twisted Sisters, I cannot imagine where the next book is going to take readers.
Kimber Leigh Wheaton has a way with writing the paranormal that make you feel like you are there experiencing the haunting yourself. She did it with Tortured Souls and I had trouble falling asleep after reading that one, and she has improved that talent with Twisted Sisters. These books while perfect for Halloween, are also great when you want a good suspenseful scary story to make you jump. I highly recommend The Orion Circle series and Twisted Sisters.
**Unabridged Bookshelf received this book, in exchange for an honest review**
Kimber Leigh Wheaton is back with the next book in The Orion Circle series , which has more ghostly and ghastly business on their plates at the moment and if that wasn't enough tensions are raising through the roof as these new sets of ghosts are finding their way into your negative thought waves. The story starts off with two girls buying a Ouija board at a toy store and pretending to summon ghosts in their sorority house. What happens though is that they in fact raise three spirits who have been bound since the late 1970's when three students were killed as part of a manipulative experiment by a high school professor of psychology Jefferey - it seemed that Jefferey was also special and had the power of persuasion and mind control. Eventually he died, but that still left three unhappy ghosts and one live person Angela to pick up the messes. With jealousy and feuds happening among the members of The Orion Circle, can the team especially Kacie, Daniel and Logan work together ? This being more complicated as the spirits in the house love feeding on the negative jealousy thoughs until they fester and grow into something nasty. What happens though when things seem to be heading on a downward spiral with this case rather than resolution ? Has the Orion Circle bitten off more than Blake can chew ? Will Kacie find herself possessed by another evil spirit bent on revenge ?
Find out in another awesome book in the series "The Orion Circle" by Kimber Leigh Wheaton and I am looking forward to any new book that may come out in this series.
This is the second book in the Orion Circle Series, but can probably be read as a stand alone, although I recommend reading Tortured Souls first. Think Ghost Whisper and Scooby Doo with teens, cats and crows... This book is pretty fast paced, you can't leave spirits that need help moving on for long so it does move pretty face. Where in Tortured Souls we just had Kacie's POV, in Twisted Sisters we also have Logan's POV, so we are switching back and forth but it's not distracting and helps the story flow because this is also part of Logan's story. For me this helped developed Logan a lot more as a main character.
I felt like there is a lot of unanswered questions that surround Blake and Raven, separately and together. I hope we get more from not only them but the rest of the Orion Circle in later books. I like all the characters and hope to learn more about them.
The story itself is really well written and developed. You have the main problem: scary ghost and add in some teen drama it makes for an interesting read. I look forward to more books in the series!
I received this book for an honest review. Review by Raychel
The second book in the Orion Circle series is just as action-packed as the first book. I will admit to the beginning taking me by surprise but I loved how it was written, with the characters of Kacie and Logan being immediately recognisable and flowing to the forefront of my mind, even though it is a while since I have read the first book in this series, Tortured Souls.
This story is layered with intricate twists and turns as Logan and Kacie have to deal with a number of different things, and the opponents they're facing are very good at finding out their secret fears. Although the timing of this book is over a short period, it never seemed rushed or hurried. Each scene was well-written and time given to each action and character, so that you understand just what is going on. With excellent teamwork by the Orion Circle as a whole (although the Pastor did annoy me at the end!), action, adventure and a touch of romance, this is one story that I didn't want to end.
Absolutely recommended and I can't wait for more!
* I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. *
Another exciting ghost adventure. I enjoyed the mystery and the journey that the characters went through to solve it. Both Logan's and Kaci's points of view were present in this story. The dual perspective was nice to read as we learned a bit more about Logan's character. The story itself or should I say the case that the characters undertook was quite intriguing and I loved the sinister nature to it. I like where the story left off with promise of something dark, foreboding and for me exciting. My only wish is that the characters were more mature. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.
CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS
Wow! Another great book in the Orion Circle series!!
This time, a couple of sorority girls release 3 spirits of sorority sisters murdered by a psychopathic assistant professor . They are bent on death and destruction. Can these spirits be calmed down and convinced to leave this plane of existence? Can Kacie and club get out of this one unharmed? What happened to the 4th girl of the group?
Ms Wheaton has a great series started here. I am really looking forward to another book in the lives of Kacie and her friends!
Nothing good every comes from a spirit board! NOTHING. I've seen every movie, read every book. Do not summon the spirits people. Don't do it.
Except, they did it. Just do happens three of their old Sorority sisters were murdered there forty years earlier. You just had to use a spirit board didn't you?
When it comes to haunted houses, I am absolutely not the one. I've been known to literally break out into a sprint during those walk-through mazes, so I definitely would not be able to face anything that Kimber Leigh Wheaton's The Orion Circle deals with on a regular basis. However, there does become a threshold in which "2spoopy" starts to become "too much," even for people with much more sturdier constitutions than myself. Combined with a randomly-expanding plot and some activation of God Mode, Twisted Sisters might not be for the faint of heart -- or with a low tolerance for over-powered characters. This second installment of The Orion Circle series can be read as a standalone, but focuses on a lot of the same characters from Wheaton's previous novel, Tortured Souls. In this, the titular Circle -- composed of a group of people with various psychic and supernatural abilities -- being called upon to handle a severe haunting at a local sorority house. However, with newcomer Kacie not only learning how to get a hold on her recently-discovered powers, but also her newly-developing love life with fellow Circle member Logan, her mind's not exactly in the right place. The spirits grow stronger and stronger in their wrath with every passing encounter; it's only a matter of time until the spectral sisters make someone else join their undead family.
Let's get this minor gripe out of the way first: I really dislike when a book is advertised as a standalone, despite existing as part of a series. Since I was tasked with only reading Twisted Sisters, I did exactly that, but ended up finding myself stumbling within the first few chapters because there were many call backs to the previous book that did not make sense out of context. If you claim your book can stand on its own, make sure that it can actually do so.
As mentioned before, there are certain points of the book that seem to get a little excessive. Upon further reflection, it's almost as if Wheaton is unsure how to proceed with just "middle of the road": everything's done to the extreme. The jealousy issues that crop up between Kacey and Logan are extreme, despite only entering into the relationship briefly before the start of the book. The level of power between the newly re-awakened sisters is extreme, causing severe and life-threatening injuries to members of the Orion Circle. Conversely, the attacks against the psychics from the sisters should have flat out killed them, but there's something about their supernatural powers that gives them that extra little bit of indestructibility. In the role-playing realm, we call that activating God Mode. Writers may recognize these traits as being Mary Sue-ish. I'm just pointing them out as food for thought.
As mentioned previously, the attacks that the spirits launch against our protagonists are brutal. Heavy furniture is dropped onto people, there's falling down multiple flights of stairs, possessions -- the works. It's enough to make weaklings like myself start to feel a little queasy at the thought. However, all of that pales in comparison to the horrors wrought upon the sisters by their torturer back when they were alive. When reading some of the depictions of their murders, I felt a little thrown knowing that mere pages before, I was reading what was supposed to be a slightly spookier-than-average paranormal romance. I can kind of see what Wheaton was going for in wanting to stress exactly how horribly the sisters were murdered, but I definitely was not prepared. Again, I think that there are a few marketing issues with this book given its target audience.
There are some redeeming qualities to this book, though. As things progressed, I did find myself moving quickly through the story, intrigued as to exactly how far the Circle would go to rid themselves of these supernatural pests. Once Wheaton has you interested, it's hard to put the story down; it really feels like a lot happens within the svelte 170 pages, but not overwhelmingly so. I do think that Wheaton's strengths lie within her descriptions, because it's very simple to picture exactly what she's writing out. It truly was an exercise in showing, not telling, which is a hard thing for most authors to accomplish.
Overall, I don't know if I have it in me to rate this book higher. I felt like it erred far too much on the side of extremity and almost crossed into adult territory from how severe some of the horror elements were. Furthermore, some of the characters in the story were far too powerful for their age and assumed abilities, which is infinitely frustrating. However, the story is a quick read, so at least the discomfort is over fast. Meanwhile, I'm off to retreat to Cotton Candy Land where nothing is ever scary ever.
Twisted Sisters by Kimber Leigh Wheaton Book #2: The Orion Circle Series Source: Purchase My Rating: 3½/5 stars My Review:
Round two of The Orion Circle finds the gang knee-deep in a sorority house mess. After playing with they thought was a children’s toy, two sorority sisters inadvertently unleash three seriously nasty spirits that have been tied to the house since their brutal murder in the 1970s.
Logan is dispatched to the sorority to house assess the situation and quickly discovers he is well out of his depth and needs some serious back-up. The spirits are unlike anything Logan (or the Orion Circle) have ever encountered. The long-dead sisters are beyond angry, they are likely the most powerful the group has ever faced, they have been banished from the house once before, and they are hell-bent on revenge. To make matters even worse, the strongest of the three vengeful spirits had (and has) the ability to read negative emotions and thoughts. Her ability to manipulate other’s thoughts and exploit their fears coupled with her ability to move (read: throw!) large objects wreaks havoc on the group causing both mental and physical injury.
In order to permanently fix the sorority house’s ghost problem, the Orion Circle must harness all their collective powers and convince the three angry apparitions to cross over into the light. For two of the three spirits, it is surprisingly (like way too surprisingly) easy to convince them to cross over but the third takes considerably more skill, effort, and cunning. As the group delves deeper into the deaths of the three sorority sisters they discover how truly heinous the crime was. Between the manipulation, the drugs, the betrayal, and the brutality, it is no wonder the girls are angry and vengeful. By the time the group is able to solve the problem, the sorority house has been destroyed, loyalties have been tested, old friendships re-forged, and premonitions of future darkness and danger spoken.
The Bottom Line: Round two of The Orion Circle series fell into the dreaded sophomore slump for me. Just about everything I liked in this read also had a serious negative side. For example, I like Kacie and Logan but there are a lot of other members of the Orion Circle I am interested in learning more about. Daniel, Blake, and Raven are at the top of the list and though they got some time off the bench in this read, they still played second fiddle to Kacie and Logan. I like the basic premise of three sorority sisters haunting their old home but the explanation into their murder was too much of reach for me and their end felt quite anticlimactic. I really hope Twisted Sisters is just a sophomore slump and not an indication of what’s coming for the series as a whole. There is still a great deal of potential and a great number of characters waiting to be tapped which is why I am hopeful future books in the series will rise like a phoenix out of the slump.
The Orion Circle is called to investigate a strange occurrence in a Sorority House after a couple of girls play with a ouija board. There might just be a haunting that requires more than originally expected and hopefully the team is ready for it, personal baggage and all.
This is the second book in the Orion Circle series and I read somewhere that it could be read as a standalone so I figured why not give it a go since I have not read the first book. Well, yes it can be read as a complete story because there was enough back story to not make me feel lost and the ghost story/case was brand new so I was not behind there either. What this book did do was make me really interested in reading the first book in the series to see how the characters all came together. The story was a very fast read and I flew through it in just a few hours.
I was surprised by how dark the plot was. And I feel a little stupid saying that considering I was reading a ghost story, but for some reason I expected it to be more cutesy and fun than the serious and spooky that I got. I was surprised, but not at all disappointed. The story dealt with evil ghosts, negative emotions, insanity, exorcisms, cults and brainwashing, lies, betrayal, torture and murder. Toss in a little self doubt, and ta-da, you have an engaging paranormal mystery on your hands.
The story alternated narration between Logan and Kacie, love interests who happen to be members of the Circle. I was instantly concerned with how the story was going to play out when the first chapter dealt with a betrayal and lack of communication that led to angsty behavior and bad choices. I was afraid that it was “one of those” kinds of teen books, the kind I hate to read full of stupid drama and a plot built on lack of communication. Well, I was happy to be wrong, since after the firstish chapter the betrayal was resolved maturely and real issues were given priority. Go team! The characters were very immature (in the sense that it was very pg) when it came to the romance, but incredibly mature when it came to dealing with personal issues as well as a terrible situation.
There were so many side characters that peaked my interest as well as the holes in the plot that did not get resolved that I need to read the next book in the series. I enjoyed the story and I look forward to more from this series and this author.
I received this title from the author in return for my honest review.
Twisted Sisters, certainly takes the reader on a twisted ride as the members of the Orion Circle work to find out what happened to the spirits haunting the sorority house, and why they can’t move on.
I didn’t read the first one, so some parts were confusing, but I caught on rather quickly. Twisted Sisters mainly follows the point of views of Kacie, a physical medium, and her boyfriend/love interest Logan, whose mother is a High Goddess in the Orion Circle. Tasked with moving on three malevolent spirits, this tale takes an eerie turn, causing the members to scramble for their lives.
Overall I loved the dark plot, and the concept of the Orion Circle. I was a bit confused about who was who, as I haven’t read the first one, but I understood the general gist of it so I could still enjoy the story. The Cast of characters are funny, dark, quirky. Kacie, the main female character is stronger than she lets on, and her boyfriend and her seem to make a pretty good part of the team.
Loved all the conflicts, and I love paranormal stuff. I love seeing how other authors pull off the ghost thing. It started out as a fun read (I’m a paranormal horror fan, what can I say?” But towards the middle to end of the novel started getting pretty dark. I’m adding a minor trigger warning, only because the level of sadistic violence (which is flashback only in this novel) is pretty heavy, or could be for some readers sensitive to such things.
Plenty of romance, ghosts, and supernatural abilities permeate the novel. Fun fact, I used to live in San Antonio. So it was fun to see the little references of things I knew about in this novel. On a side note, I’ve love to see more Blake, or a novel about him because I found his to be a really fascinating character.

Kaci is a high school student with special powers, as part of the Orion Circle, she and her classmates help people with their paranormal problems. When a college sorority decides to play with a spirit board, the Sisters unknowingly release three deceased Sisters that were brutally murdered in the house years ago. Bent on wreaking havoc, destructions and seeking revenge for how they passed, the three spirits quickly destroy the house and scare the occupants. The Orion Circle is called in to rid the house of spirits. When they arrive, they realize that these aren't ordinary ghosts, they are exceptionally strong and angry. Kacie, Logan, Daniel and the rest of the Orion Circle have to combine all of their talents in order to help these spirits move on.
I loved the first book of the Orion Circle and Twisted Sisters kept up the intrigue, horror and excitement. These books are fit for the Young Adult audience, but entertaining even for adults. I enjoyed seeing Kaci grow as a person and overcome fears that were both paranormal and in real life. Some of the best drama provided was the general high school antics. The ghosts and their backstory was wonderfully intricate and terrifying. I liked how the entire Orion Circle team really worked together and used their different talents to help these spirits. Another great Orion Circle installment, I can't wait for more!

MAY CONTAIN SPOILER:
This is a perfectly paced, horrific and magical novel. This novel was wonderfully written, but has tons of gruesome parts.
This book is the second in the series. Kacie and Logan had a sweet two (2) months of a great relationship, but some not so smart sorority girls started playing with evil spirits. This time there are 3 that were all involved in a gruesome murder. Kacie really wants to help them forgive people so they can move on. However, the dead want revenge for being murdered. This assignment takes tons of guts and energy to accomplish.
My favorite character is Raven because she is intelligent and outgoing. Raven reminds me of myself in a lot of ways.
This a paranormal book that starts off innocently enough by a group of college kids playing around with a Ouija board. They had no idea what havoc can be wreaked when invoking spirits from otherworldy realms. Well, they do in fact release several very evil, demonic souls. If trying to figure everything out and deal with their consequences, they discover they must find a key to “lock” or bind the evil souls again. If your a fan of good paranormal reads I recommend you pick up this book. It’s a good solid read, steady moving pace, with very believable characters. All elements of a wonderful paranormal book are revealed by this author. I enjoyed reading this! Bravo!!
It's been a while since the first book in this series, and yet, once I started reading, it didn't feel like that. But if you haven't read Tortured Souls yet, I recommend you do so, before you start Twisted Sisters.
OK. Public service announcement over, on to the book!
I will start by saying that this book is significantly shorter than its predecessor. And, whilst this is undoubtedly a great little romp through a paranormal incident, for me the depth, tension and threat was somewhat missing.
However, what we do have is an entertainingly spooky re-introduction to the Orion Circle. I hope for good things with the next one!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I feel this book was better than the first, truly. However, I wasn't really keen on how the first book was only Kacie's POV but the 2nd book switched back and forth between Kacie and Logan. The first book didn't do that, then all of a sudden the author decides to change it. Should have done it with the first book if she wanted it with the 2nd.
