The story features a determined girl, Madi, that tries several sports in search for what truly inspires her. She calls on her friends to help her through the process, but ultimately stands firm in choosing what brings her joy.
When children read “Running is Totally for Me” they will see stereotypes and gender roles being broken. They will hear encouraging words not only for the characters, but for themselves.
At the back of the book you will find three activities that you can do with your child right away. The activities incorporate language, math and science all while getting your kid moving. You will also find links to free printables that accompany each lesson.
My 13 year old niece and i reviewed Running is Totally for Me by Cassie Celestain. The character finds different activities and tries them out. She likes it but not something she wants to do forever. We think it is better for younger kids who enjoy the rhyming and repetitive nature of the phrases. It contains realistic images and can tell they are hand drawn. Since I am a runner, I found the book to be adorable.
Hooray for Encouraging Kids to find Their Activity
Hooray for encouraging kids to find their activity! An easy read for early elementary students. Parents will love the encouragement of activity and individualism. Thanks for adding activities, what a bonus! I can't wait to read more from this author.
