David Owain Hughes is a word-slinger of horror and crime fiction, who grew up on trashy b-movies from the age of five which helped rapidly instil in him a vivid imagination. He’s had multiple short stories published in various online magazines and anthologies, along with articles, reviews and interviews. He’s written for This Is Horror, Blood Magazine, and Horror Geeks Magazine.
Hughes is the author of six horror novels, four short story collections and a plethora of novellas. Although he predominately writes within the bracket of horror and its multiple sub-genres, he’s recently branched out into crime fiction and is slowly carving out a superb series of crime/noir thrillers under the umbrella title of South Wales.
I loved this collection of short, horror stories. They lure you in and then stick in your mind for you to mull over and wonder at the how's and why's of the characters and their psyches. A cleverly-written book full of stories that will have you grimacing and feeling exactly what the author wants you to feel. I can highly recommend this book to anyone who loves well-written, solid horror stories with a twist!
Wicked cover art, disturbing characters, unexpected outcomes, and chilling real-world scenarios--Another great read from an emerging horror master!
I liked how some of the stories were interconnected, and there were even a couple head-nods to characters and settings from one of the author's previous works. It keeps the level of insanity boiling and immerses the reader in familiar worlds. This collection also elicited quite a few sadistic chuckles from me; I like that type of dark humor.
I'm glad to have this on my physical bookshelf and can't wait for more demented tales from this author.
Every story was brilliant, great twists and turns, intelligently wrote. David Owen hughes is now in my top list of authors, Stephen king first of course. I've now got another four of his books and not one have disappointed me.
Very well worth the time. It was the first book I read on my new paper white and it was great. It was gory, such , fun, and imaginative. It small had some socks I didn't see coming. I recommend to all fans of modern horror!!!!!!
