Funny Stories for Kids: Lily White and the Horrible Dwarves

Rate this book
What would the story of "Snow White" be like if the princess was an idiot, the evil queen was completely incompetent, and the dwarves, instead of being happy and silly, were instead super gross and mean? The answer: "Lily White and the Horrible Dwarves," a comedy short story that is so awesome you'll have to read it to believe it.

*****

Take your expectations for a fairy tale and throw them out the window! A noble prince? Lame. A humble princess? What a loser! A happy ending? You wish. This eBook is way better than all that. It will make you giggle, laugh, and ask for more. Either that, or it will make you scream for it all to stop. The only way to know is to read it.

The Funny Stories for Kids series, written/recorded by Dr. Dexter Dweezel and Professor Parnassus Pallie, is an ongoing effort to make fairy tales less crappy. "Lily White and the Horrible Dwarves" is the first in this series, with more to come.

This book really isn't meant for kids. Maybe for the adults that would otherwise be reading it to their kids. Don't be fooled. It is terribly raunchy. And what frustrates me even more than that is the poor grammar. I thought this would be a "nice" change from the average "fairytale" I read with my kids. Next time we'll stick to Grimm's.

This story was a ridiculous and funny read that was very short. Hunkules was a great addition to the satire of Snow White, and he was definitely my favorite character. The title says that the story is for kids, but I think there are a few ideas and plenty of upper-level vocabulary words that would fly right over a younger child's head. I would say this is more suitable for young adults and adults who like fairy tale retellings.

After adding books to owned books[shelf goodreads provides] I lost ratings and review. Will attempt to add the review. Books won on goodreads giveaways that is missing review due to this are books I have enjoyed. On a later date I will attempt to remember what I have written about them and will rewrite them.

RECEIVED FREE AS A GOODREADS GIVEAWAY. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK AND FOUND IT VERY AMUSING. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO HOTEL CALIFORNIA WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THIS BOOK. I CRTAINLY WOULD BE INTERESTED IN READING FURTHER BOOKS BY THESE AUTHORS.

Good but bad too....

The story is nice, silly but there are some disgusting words used in it which I don't like but you wanted to kinda describe the dwarfs so its ok still I would recommend it to children above 10 years.

Hilarious!! Loved it! Not sure if I'd let a ten year-old read it, but it is a great adult version of a classic fairy tale and I can't wait for more "less crappy" tales to come!

Pretty funny

It made me laugh. Grossed .me out. Then makes you laugh some more. Young kids would love this version of the story. It's fun to read it.

2.5 stars. It should have been a three stars rating as the story was funny and easy to read but I really didn't like the way the poor animals during the story were treated/squashed/kicked.

##Warning ##
This book says, " funny stories for kids". It is crude and has sexual tones along with bullying and killing. This is not, in my opinion, what children need to think about or learn is funny. For adults or teenagers who can choose to read it or not, then enjoy. But, you need to be able to "choose" this as an adult or teenager.
Snow White is named Lily White and the woodsman, who is suppose to kill her, is Hunkales. Some of the dwarfs are, Nasty, Stinky, Tricky and Dumpy. The story line, sex far as I read, loosely went around the story we know.
I stopped reading when I was just to upset. I found this book for free on a website for an honest review.
If you are an adult and like off the wall adult fairy tales this book is for you.

Okay

Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!

Funny

Story got a bit wordy in places, but overall I enjoyed it. Silly little fun. I'd read another in the series.

Although I may have a weird sense of humor, this book was great! It takes a classic fairy tale, Snow White, and flips it in ways that I feel children would enjoy and humor them! I would recommend this story to older students, around age 7-9, to start only because of the content in which they change within. Lily White, aka Snow White, is somewhat smart compared to the others. The queen is dumbfounded throughout and the dwarves, instead of being happy and silly, they become gross versions of the classics. The story follows the same plot but takes little turns to create a funny read.
Not only does the author want you to be captured as soon as you open the book, but wants you to enjoy the new world they created! Such a fun read and if I end up teaching older children, this book will be in my classroom as a choice read, for fun, on rainy days.

Loved it!

DISCLAIMER: I received this book for free via Goodreads Giveaways

Could we please agree this is NOT a story for kids? (seriously, it should be removed from the title). Unless your child has a good knowledge and can handle ideas such as: boy toy, beauty without brains, being extremely egocentric - almost narcissistic, something that borders on sexual harassment, alcoholism, etc etc.

I totally get the parody of it all, but it's just a tad too psychedelic for me and I would have preferred the sarcasm to be a tad more on the subtle side. It does have potential with a certain part of the readers' market that will find funny demythologizing childhood's perfect happy endings.

When I read it, it just reminded me of a cross between American Pie and Scary Movie: funny, but not quite there yet.

I'm ok with irreverent. I love satire. I'm don't get grossed out. I'm not bothered by potty humor.

This was drek. Not funny. Not clever. Just annoyingly crude, violent, sexist, and poorly written. Don't even bother. There are other silly, funny, gross books at there that are well written and amusing.

I read through to see if there was any redeeming plot twist or anything.

Nope.

Twisted tales, make room for a new twist on the classic Snow White story. Readers, get ready to laugh. Adults will laugh at allusions youngsters will not understand but there are also some things the tween or teen will explain why it's funny to the adult. I look forward to more fairy tales from these authors I received a copy for review from Goodreads first reads giveaway.
