IThis is the first time I have read something by Emily Woods and I must say that I will certainly be reading more books by her. It was a cute little short story about a young lady who wasn't happy living in the city and decided to move to become a mail order bride. She certainly found peace and happiness with the move.

A must read for all romance readers.

Emily Woods is a wonderful author. I love her books. I really loved this one. The only problem with this story is that it was too short.

The story is about Jay and Millie. I think Jay feels that he doesn't quite stack up to Millie's level. So he wants to court her a bit to make sure that she really want to marry him and love him.

They date and go out for a picnic; but Jay is so overjoyed about how things went he forgets to follow up and share his feelings with Millie and let her know he wishes to see her again. There is a meddlesome cowboy who has been trying to horn in on Millie.

Jay ends up being called away on job at the ranch he works for and Millie has heard from him. Missed him at Church and then is taken advantage of but Jay comes back just in time to save her from the unwanted advances of the other cowboy.

Very interesting

I would recommend this to everyone interested in finding out what courage it took to go out west,.
Did love prevail? Was life exciting as the our parents who forth on the journey across the high seas make us believe? Could we rake that step or would the poorhouse be there home?

What I enjoyed:
-Short and sweet love story.
-Millie was relatable in the sense that I’m leaving the city for the country as well, though for different reasons.

What I didn’t enjoy:
-It was a complete story but felt a little too short.

Good story

Too short. It could have been expanded a lot to make a much more interesting story. This was more like a magazine submission

Sweet

Very short, sweet, and adorable mail order bride story that carried a little punch. For such a short story, you got a clear idea of the characters and their goodness.

This is a cute short story (about 80 pages) about a a mail order bride. Millie - the h - dislikes her life in the city and after some correspondence with Jay (H) travels west to marry him. Most books with this storyline have the couple getting married right away - not this book. I liked the idea that this couple was going to get to know each other before doing so. Unfortunately, the book was too short for this to happen. There was no "getting to know each other". In fact, other than the potential groom meeting our h at the train station one day and taking her on a picnic another they didn't see each other for a week- then got married. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the book, just felt that it was too short to develop the idea of first "knowing" each other and a romance to be the outcome. I was provided a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine alone.

This book was a sweet short romance. I would put this one more of a short story than novella as it took me under 30 mins to read it. I think this book has a lot of potential with more interaction between Jay and Millie. There needed to be more romancing and interaction to show the attraction between the two. Some indicators that they were attracted to each other, affection was growing, and they connected would make this story believable and real. It was too short and not enough “story” to connect to the characters. When I finished reading the story, I felt that I really hadn’t read a story. I think the writing is good and can make for a really good book with some length and tweaking.

Another tale of the mail-order bride - and all the mis-communications and adventures that come with it.

This story was short and sweet. Millie and Jay met thru their letters and she came to South Texas to marry him. He met her at the station and brought her to the parson's house, where he planned on boarding her until they could court. She didn't know what to think...

Simple clean western. This is a mail order bride but was a little dry with Millie and her cowboy courting till them marry which to me makes it just a simple romance. It was pretty dry for me, but it was a short story and I finished it quickly.

Over the top sweet, plus it could do with a good editor.

10/8 Obviously memorable. I just reread it three months later, not realising that I had already read it.

I really liked this book. It was a sweet romance that was just enjoyable to read. A good mix of problems and then love overcoming those problems. I know that sounds super cheesy, but it really is a good romance.
