A real mixed bag this DD volume from Joe Kelly, and some of the artists involved were just not at their best.
I really loved the Mr Fear storyline, the Daredevil/Deadpool annual was great (and it fixed something really bad old hornhead done when starting his hero career), and A time to say farewell, a tale about young Matt's arrival at college with his dad Battlin' Jack Murdock and when he first met Foggy is just one of my most fan favourite DD stories ever.

A sad end for this first run of Daredevil, which ran from 1964 to 1998.
Joe Kelly picks up the Mr Fear arc, which began a little earlier. The tone is lighter and more humorous, but it doesn't save a confused, convoluted plot that achieves very little, with a stupefyingly incoherent conclusion. I honestly thought an issue was missing between #374 and #375!
This is followed by four bad James Bond-style episodes, utterly incongruous with DD.
The final episode – written by Chichester – comes out of nowhere, is rather poorly constructed and ultimately concludes nothing. We all know DD was selling poorly and the editorial wanted to relaunch the series via Marvel Knights, but still! The series was buried in a common grave without fanfare, and that's a bit sad.
On the art side, it's little better. The great Gene Colan draws a few issues but is let down by a completely unsuitable inking. There are few inkers capable of doing justice to Gene the Dean, and Bud LaRosa isn't one of them. The rest is generally mediocre, despite some decent work by Ariel Olivetti. The final issue is drawn by the excellent Lee Weeks, but it's not enough to save this shipwreck.

This volume wraps up the original Daredevil series at 380 issues. This had high points and low points, but for the most part it was good. I didn't care for the final issue, but this was by no means a bad volume. The Mr. Fear storyline was pretty good as it was a roller coaster ride. Good volume overall.

I started reading through Daredevil about a year ago, and finally, I've made it to the end of the first run of issues. 380 proper issues, plus more than a few side stories, annuals, crossovers, and in this volume, a flashback that I'm not totally sure fits into continuity, but is charming nonetheless for what it shows us of Matt and Foggy's first meeting.
That aside, this is a pretty strong collection of issues to round out the run. It's interesting too, as we really see the point where computer coloring, and maybe even inking, took over the industry. I suppose that's my takeaway more than anything here. I've been reading from Daredevil #1 and the evolution of the art and processes across that time is a fascinating thing to see as you read along. In just under 40 years we went from quite simple ink drawings with flat coloring to (at the time) state of the art computer coloring and wild swings in style so unique to each artist as to be far more recognizable than back in the day when everything was a slight variation on the in-house Marvel style.
So yeah, when it's all said and done, I've really enjoyed my time with Daredevil so far. I can only hope I have as much fun reading the modern era stuff as I did with these classic comics.

This was a bit of a slog to get through. For me, the annual featuring Typhoid Mary tangling with DD and Deadpool was a definite highpoint but that was only a single issue out of this sizable collection. The rest of the book suffered from some rushed art and stories that largely felt like filler.

Eu acabo de adquirir um novo respeito pelo leitor de quadrinhos que, nos anos 90, todo mês comprava gibizinho do Demolidor, porque é muito ruim.
Sério.
É inexplicável.
Primeiro tivemos o Demolidor de armadura, depois tentativas frustrantes de corrigir aquela porcaria, e agora, bom, agora foi o boi e as cordas com o Joe Kelly.
É.
O cara do Deadpool.
A primeira coisa que ele faz? Deadpool, Demolidor e Mary Tifóide num retcon horrível do Homem Sem Medo do Miller/Romitinha.
Depois, ainda temos o Sr Medo num plano mirabolante para fazer o Homem Sem Medo sentir, bom, medo, obviamente , que envolve acusar a Karen Page de assassinar um policial - e ela matou o cara mesmo. Também temos atribulações amorosas no namorico do Foggy com a Liz Osborn, a mãe e a meia-irmã do Foggy também aparecem por aí.
Depois de tudo isso, para colocar sal grosso na ferida, Scott Lobdell aparece, faz uma lavagem cerebral no Demolidor e manda ele pra Paris. A troco de quê? Não sei, o agente da Shield que cuidava disso morreu atropelado.

E para esfregar o sal grosso, a última edição - 380 - tem o Chichester escrevendo uma metaficção sobre o Deathdevil - um Demolidor de Armadura, claro, que solta bombas nucleares pelos punhos.
Eu deveria ter gastos meu Vintão em Ploc Gigante Laranja/Uva que eu teria ficado mais feliz.

Surprisingly a pretty good collection, considering it follows quite closely from Fall From Grace which wasn't that great. There's a gratuitous crossover with new fan favourite on the block, Deadpool, as Joe Kelly takes over writing Daredevil for a year or so. A good conclusion to the original legacy run.

Didn’t really care for the last story where Daredevil is a SHIELD operative but the end of DD’s original run is good. Natasha returns to Matt’s life as he tries to clear Karen’s name as Kingpin pulls the strings. 1997-1998. 8/10

This was a pretty mixed bag. Some fun scenes, some interesting villains, but also rushed art and rush stories.
