Golden Alexander moves away from her family and the safety of them to find out more about the house her father inherited. Why not ask the family? Sorry. Parents died and it was her and her sister. But where did the house come from? Her Father was always secretive and as a child Golden remembered him writing in journals. She tried to take a peek one say and her father quickly hide it away from her eyes and told her someday she would know but she was too young to know then. When he passed she searched for those journals with no luck of finding them anywhere. So when she moved to the inherited house she was hoping to reconnect with her memories and also start out new, which meant finding a job. She interviewed to help out on of her neighbors with watching her elderly mother and odd jobs needed to be done. She was hired, but not without the son Kris having his say about it and also a lovely argument in Polish with his mother.
One day the journal showed up in a wooden box with the family name on it. Strange. She opened it and found her nightmares weren’t nightmares and her life as she knew it was changing forever, or until the family curse caught up to her and Kris. Need more? Read it!
I loved this book! Golden is an intriguing character and I am hooked. Kris needed to relax and let fate work its magic in the love department instead of fighting it. I liked some of the flash back, but some felt a little weird. The flash backs did help tell how the curse developed though so I can’t complain.

This book had me intrigued as soon as I read the synopsis. The story of eternal love is a classic in Asian folklore and so I was instantly interested. The research on geographical locations was impressive and considering this is a debut novel, the construction and execution of the plot indicates that other offerings from Ms. Kimble will be just as pleasing. I did feel that the story was dragged out just a tad and some of the events occurring in the storyline could have been combined into one but ultimately that is at the writer's discretion to do so.

Impressive work Ms. Sophia Kimble and I look forward to read "Avenge Her" when it is released. Good Luck!

I was taken by surprise how good this story was. I really enjoyed this book because it is different from so many paranormal stories I've read before. The beautiful character Sophia is reborn over and over until either the curse is broken or the demon Lailoken takes her for his wife. The story takes you back in time when Celtic the old language is spoken hundreds of years ago. Sophia and Kris are drawn together as fate has it in the curse, they can't be torn apart for the love they share is too strong, they must hurry and find a way to break the curse before they die and history repeats itself. I highly recommend this book to paranormal, romance, suspense, fantasy and adventure readers. I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway for free.

Golden Alexander has moved back to Poultney, Vermont to the house her father left her. She lost her parents and her brother and for the past seven years she has dreamed about a handsome man and has seen a demon who is always chasing her. When she applies for a position to care for an elderly woman she meets the man of her dreams, Krzysztof Pietka and her life will change in ways she could never have imagined.

Krzysztof is immediately attracted to Golden and his reaction to that attraction is to act as an asshole or as Golden refers to him, "Asshole Guy". Kris has never been able to have a relationship with a woman, he becomes nauseous and impotent whenever he enters into a sexual act. Now for the first time he is being aroused by a woman and does not appear to be having the same reaction he usually has, but he is afraid to find out if he is wrong. Golden also has very strong feelings for Kris, and like him she never even desired a kiss from a man, now she wants so much more.

All of a sudden Golden and Kris begin to learn about a curse, a curse that began in Scotland in 1292. Aonghus Mor MacDonald was the head of his clan and for years he allowed a Druid High Priest to advise him, leading him to wealth and power. Now the Druid, Lailoken wants payment for his services and that payment is in the form of marriage to Aonghus' third daughter Goldhain. Goldhain is in love with Krzysztof and when the castle is attacked and her family killed it is Malculum who helps them escape. Filled with anger and a desire for revenge Lailoken captures them and puts a curse on them. Every ninety years they will upon their reincarnation, meet and on the Summer Solstice be burned alive. Now it is the ninth time that has happened and hopefully Kris can finally destroy the demon and protect the woman he has always loved.

It is time for Golden and Kris to return to the Carpathian Mountains and find help. Can this finally be the last time the curse will play out? Will Golden and Kris finally have the love that has been denied them for centuries? All attempts to stop the curse have failed is this the time that things are different. Malculum, now Malcolm Campbell has also been cursed to live through the deaths every ninety years as his punishment in helping Golden and Kris escape. He also lost someone he loved early, Golden's sister, is there any hope that he can find his lost love again? Are these three people destined to playout a curse for all time? There isn't much time since the Summer Solstice is a few days away and everything rests in Kris and Golden being in time to stop Lailoken.

This is a story of a love that never dies and even though death ultimately separates the lovers they always find each other again. The curse may kill them but it never kills their love. It was a beautiful story and I look forward to the next in the series. There is no cliffhanger and the storyline is complete.

This is (mainly) the story of Golden and Kris, though a few other characters become a key part to the story.

When we first meet Golden, she has went across the country (from California to Vermont). She is clearly running from things in her past, and it becomes apparent quickly that the paranormal is involved.

She meets Kris, and nicknames him 'Asshole Guy', from his rudeness. This same man has appeared in her dreams for years, and instead of whisking her off her feet, he does the exact opposite.

The story has quite a bit of Polish (from Kris and his family), and Gaelic (from Golden's side).

There are also several chapters of flashbacks from the 1200s.

It seems as though the past continues to repeat itself. Can the present version of the story keep from repeating the mistakes of the past?

I was drawn into this story quickly, but I must admit that a lot of the conversations frustrated me (Polish and Gaelic). Also, I got a bit lost during the flashback chapters.

The author does paint vivid pictures in present and past, and you did feel as though you were right there with the characters. I think it is a good book, and has great potential as a series - depending on where the next book takes it. I feel as though this book made a great standalone, so I am unsure if a future book would involve these same characters or not.

Christmas is only days away and I feel as I just stepped off of a time machine. I just finished reading Protect Her and am now having a hard time bringing myself back to the real world of glittery trees and merry carols. While I normally don't much go for demons and curses, this was a powerful book to read.
Golden and Kris are lovers who were cursed centuries ago by a terrible demon--like there's ever been a good demon, right? The evil Lailoken first condemned Goldhain and Krzysztof to a fiery death, only to return at the appointed time, reincarnated. Destined to meet and fall in love, they could only hold each other a short time until their ultimate date with death once more. Endless times the young lovers reincarnate and repeat the sad cycle, forever trapped in a living, dying curse.
This time, however, it might turn out differently-- or will it? Golden is strong, stubborn and smart. Sassy and determined, she might find a way to break the curse once and for all. Or die trying. With her lover and hero, Kris, at her side.
With grand period detailing and great imagery that switches from the creepy to the exotic settings they globe trot to, Golden and Kris's story is one steamy, hot and intense read. As are the longings between them as they fight their way around and over every obstacle before them.
Five stars for a well written story! Bring on Book 2 please!

~I was given an ARC for an honest review on behalf of Obsessed by Books~

This was the first time for me reading a book by Sophia Kimble. Protect Her was amazing and enjoyable read. I loved reading Protect Her I couldn't put it down it was that good. I was hooked on the first page and glued to the story I couldn't put it down and I didn't want it to end.

Protect Her tells the story of Golden who moves away from her family and goes back to the house her father owned. She has dreams of a man that she never met in her life. They both meet each other and Kris feels the need to protect Golden. They run into each other at a supermarket and Golden starts having these thought of Kris and how he makes her feel. Both Golden and Kris were cursed by a demon centuries ago. Golden and Kris travel to Poland and to the Scottish Highlands in search of a demon to break their curse.

Golden was a strong female character who was stubborn and determined to set herself free from her curse. Kris was totally uber hot and protective of Golden he felt the need to watch and protect her at any given moment.

I loved this paranormal read it had hot steamy scenes. Suspense and a little bit of history thrown in it as well. I will be looking forward to Sophia Kimble's books in the future.

Wow. What a wild ride! Protect Her, by Sophia Kimble, caught me by surprise. I expected Protect Her to be good, but not so good that I couldn’t put it down!

Kimble’s characters are so easy to relate to, you want to protect them from anything you can. The good guys in Protect Her are easy to like, and the bad guys are just that, bad to the bone.

One of the things I loved about this book is that there were so many historical elements! Kimble was able to use the abundance of historical information to give life to the world around Golden and Kris, no matter what era they were living through.

The passion between Kris and Golden is very intense and makes me little jealous. Their love has spanned the ages and withheld the tests of time. Who wouldn’t be jealous? This is a couple that you WANT to see succeed in their relationship.

I recommend this book to any adult looking for a thrilling read featuring some fun and light hearted characters, love, steamy sex scenes and interesting history that helps tell the story of love everlasting.

Sophia Kimble, has written her self a very good story, Im not normally one for Ebooks but I did really enjoy this one.I do normally struggle read Ebooks but not this one, this one I couldnt put down. I read it all in one sitting. You would never of thought that this was her debut novel because it was so well written.I love the fact that Sophia Kimble hasnt just set off and wrote any old book, she has took the time to do her research and it shows in her flaws writing. Im a hopeless romantic at heart so I fell in love with the love story between Golden Alexander and Kris Pietka. love at first sight *sigh* . Im really looking forward to finding out if Sophis Kimble is going to turn this into a series as there is potential for a really good one

Usually, I steer clear of demon stories. But I’m glad I made an exception and decided to read Protect Her. From the start, I was hooked by the author’s easy, conversational style and, of course, the protagonists: Golden Alexander and Kris Pietka. Instantly attracted to each other, these beautifully flawed characters travel back in time to break an ancient Druid curse. I was particularly impressed by Ms. Kimble’s impeccable research skills and attention to detail. In writing this novel, she has seamlessly crossed several genres—paranormal, historical fiction, New Adult—to produce a spell-binding tale.

An excellent debut!

The story covers a timeless romance, taking the reader into a vivid, rich view of the past to tie into the troubles our heroine faces in the present. The description of the Druid magic is thorough, ensuring the reader that the author has researched this area well. The storyline flowed nicely and immersed me in the couple's race to stop the curse. The characters were likeable and had me hoping for more, and with the introduction of the heroine's sister and a romantic interest there I'm suspecting there just might be more as this is the first of a series! I really enjoyed it!

Protect Her brings paranormal, historical fiction, New Adult, and fantasy all together in one well-written novel. If you like curses, sexy but flawed characters, demons, and a splash of romantic heat...you will love Protect Her. Ms Kimble has a talent for keeping readers engaged. Pages were turning well past bed time. This book was hard for me to put down, yet easy to return to since I connected to the characters. Looking forward to Book 2!

Review: Four Stars

This book was hard to get into; I stopped and started three times before I could get passed the second chapter. It’s not too often I run across books where it takes so many chapters to get into it and start enjoying the story. I found myself going back to the summary to see why I asked to review this book. Once I got into it; I could see what appealed to me.

All the characters were well-developed and, you gained that connection with the story through them, as it should be. Once I really got into the story, I couldn’t put the book down and finished it in one night. The overall flow of the book was good.

Conclusion:

It’s a toss up would I recommend this story to others since it took me three tries to get into it and I know most of my friends enjoy the same type of books as I do, it makes me wonder will they also have trouble connecting with this story. I most likely will check back with this author and read the next book in the series and see if she did better.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The writing of Protect Her was really well done. Although sometimes the dreams or hallucinations didn't get as much description as I'd like to but you still understood what was going on and it didn't effect the novel in any way other then that I would have liked to see more about them. Kris and Golden are characters that are easy to fall in love with, or at least like. Although they both have their flaws that frustrate this does not mean you can't like them. It just makes them more human.

The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the almost whip lash speed at which the book goes. It seemed as if we were speeding through their story and I would have liked some time to take a breath or not move so quickly through out. But I did still enjoy Protect Her.

There were several different perspectives all in third person made the story interesting and allowed you to walk in several different shoes in order to better understand the curse and the back story.

I really enjoyed the ending! It was huge, and well executed and basically just really well done.

Protect Her was a good read with great characters and an interesting ending. All in all, definitely worth a look.

Enjoyable
Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.
I like the book but it took me a little longer to get into it. It felt like there was something missing, I just couldn't figure out what. I also wish there was a little bit more to the ending. After Golden is rescued nothing is said about what happened to her or what it meant for her. I think more then anything the supporting characters had more going for them.
All and all it was still an enjoyable read
