Can Maura overcome her perfect image and finally be true to herself and her heart?
You ever realize that what you're doing and where you are in life isn't where you're supposed to be?
I did.
My name is Maura Doughers. I'm perfect. I have the ideal soldier boyfriend and all the money a twenty-two year old girl could dream of. My life is just like it should be. But it's nothing close to what I want.
I'm beginning to realize the person I am isn't who I'm meant to be... and maybe the person I'm with isn't the one for me. Is what I feel love or lust? I don't know...
What I really want is forbidden and most certainly not something my parents would approve of. But what about me? What about what I want?
Well, I'm about to get it. No matter the consequences.
*While technically part of the Here's To series, this CAN be read as stand-alone as each book will follow a different couple.* **Recommended for 18+ audience for explicit language and sexual situations.**
TEAGAN HUNTER writes steamy romantic comedies with lots of sarcasm and a side of heart. She loves pizza, hockey, and romance novels, though not in that order. When not writing, you can find her watching entirely too many hours of Supernatural, One Tree Hill, or New Girl. She’s mildly obsessed with Halloween and prefers cooler weather. She married her high school sweetheart, and they currently live in the PNW.
Teagan Hunter continues to surprise me. It's hard to believe that HTY is only her second novel.
This book had me laughing out loud, yelling out in frustration and at times tearing up.
This is Maura's story. If you thought you already knew her story from HTT, you're sadly mistaken. Maura is torn between following her heart and molding to what her parents believe is best. Her journey of finding herself is beautiful.
I connected like crazy to Maura and what she goes through to find herself, at 35, I can say I'm still finding myself. The steps she takes to become who she's meant to be are sometimes frustrating but every single one is needed.
This is a beautiful story about finding yourself and in doing so finding the forever you were always meant to have.
I can't say much more without giving away some major spoilers. Just trust me. Take this journey. You'll be happy that you did.
3.5 stars Tldr: loved the couple but not the way the love triangle was handled. Impressed by the author's growth. This author has a lot of potential to become a favorite. I was so hesitant to read this book given the author's track record for me of failing at writing dramatic plots and the fact that I knew this was gonna have some major drama (my own fault for reading out of order). She actually did a really good job of delving into the emotional depths and giving it the time the issues deserved, though I still thought it could've been darker given the content matter. I was still scared though because it looked like I was nearing the end and we hadn't started resolving the situation and she has been known to magically resolve things to get the book to an end. Though I still would've preferred a little more time on the resolution and hea and of the book, I will say I'm impressed by how much better things got between that last book and this one on that front. I was also nervous to read this book because it was set up in a way likely to result in cheating which is a huge book killer for me. There was no physical cheating but I do think it erred on the side of an emotional affair though it was close to the line. The heroine realizes she's with the wrong brother very quickly in the book. While I understand why the author choose to handle the situation, for me the added drama wasn't with the ickiness I felt from it. She's been with brother one for like six months, most of that long distance from what I can tell. She doesn't like the way he treats her when they are together or how he talks to her when they're apart. Yet when she decides to do something about it instead of just ending it she keeps putting it off to do it "in person" but also hanging out with his brother even though she's got feelings for him and knows he has them for her. Even assuming she was right to do it in person she's fucking loaded and it's not like he was deployed, he was stateside she could've bought a plane ticket to go do the right thing. I really really liked this couple together but the way they treated their beginning really really bothered me. I still really like this author's writing style and I give her props for growing leaps and bounds. I'm curious about gaige but I don't really know/like Haley so I'm not super eager to read that one. I'm thinking I'll read something else and come back to it. As a side note I don't think I've read an author who changes pov so much between books. I read two that were only from the heroine's pov, then two that switched back and forth, then this was broken into parts with each long part alternating. I'm not sure I dig it but it keeps me on my toes at least
If you've read my review of Here's To Tomorrow, you probably know that I really enjoyed it (and that you should pick it up too!). Here's To Yesterday is the second installment in the Here's To series and I couldn't wait to dive into it.
I have a love-hate relationships with books in a series. Most of the time I love the first book in the series. The characters, the setting, the story - everything is new. But this is not the issue I have. The issue I have is with the follow ups, since my expectations for them are usually way too high. I can't help it, but when I read a perfect first book I want the follow ups to be equally perfect. As I mentioned in the beginning, Teagan Hunter's debut novel, Here's To Tomorrow, was great. I loved the easy story as well as the characters. But Here's To Yesterday seriously topped that!
I don't want to give too much away, since the blurb on Goodreads are a little vague, but the forbidden story-line Teagan went with is great. It is also something I haven't read in a long while. Nothing is better than reading a fresh story for a change.
The story is told in POV sections which was a nice change instead of the usual alternating POV. The storyline was so interesting, it kept me captivated from the very first page until the very last. Teagan kept the story even more interesting by revealing some surprising things about both characters and by adding a huge plot twist.
I loved Tucker from Here's to Tomorrow, but now I'm full on head over heels in love with him! Seriously.
This is the story of Maura (Rae's BFF) who we all thought would get with Tucker in the last book, but instead started dating his brother Tanner. Of course you can already see the love triangle developing and it is definitely full and center for a big chunk of the book, but what I loved the most about this book was that it wasn't just about the love story.
Oh no, this was so much more. It was more of Maura's story and her path to independence and true self discovery (which every young heroine needs to take). I loved every minute. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me the feels and I ate it up. I also loved the moments where we got to see Rae and Hudson's story continue (sigh Rae and Hudson <3). If you loved Here's to Tomorrow, definitely give this one a read!
Wow... I need a minute after this one. Just when I didn't think Teagan could outdo herself in the Here's To series, she goes and delivers Maura's story, one I wasn't expecting in all the best unexpected ways. She drew me in hard early on and didn't let go at all, making the bumpy, beautiful ride so worth every moment.
Here's To Yesterday was a twisted, emotional, deep romance that surpassed what I every could've thought... delivering a book that I hated to love in moments and loved to hate at times...but all in the best ways. This book and these characters took me on a roller coaster of emotions with Maura and two brothers...yeah it was all kinds of complicated but so is life in real time.
I'll say Teagan really shined and grew bounds with this book from the previous two. All of the angst... All of the feels... All of the everything... It hits hard and it hits fast but man by the end was every single moment unforgettable.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, and heartbreak.
Before reading this story please read the below books first Here's to Tomorrow (Here's To, #1) Here's to Forever (Here's To, #1.5)
This is Maura story. Maura thought she had everything. But he life is slowly falling apart. She is learning things she thought she knew are different. She needed a friend and he stepped up when he also needed a friend. But what happens when you are feeling more for your friend then for your boyfriend? She is falling for her friend and wonders if she should go after her own happiness and not worry about everyone else’s.
I love the chemistry between these two. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Here’s to Yesterday is a romance, but also about two people finding happiness in, not just the relationship, but them as a whole. Does that make sense? I hope so.
Tucker and Maura are complicated but when is love not complicated. There is the one issue that Maura was dating his brother. But whatever, I didn’t like Tanner anyway. I know, I’m horrible. But he didn’t deserve her anyway. Now, this isn’t a cheating story. Maybe emotionally, but it was obvious they couldn’t just be friends.
Though I didn’t connect with Tucker and Maura on a deeper level. I still really enjoyed this. I loved that Hunter took the time with these characters. They were coming into their own. In a sense, they needed each other to get there, even if they were apart. This is an excellent series, and I’m glad that I jumped into it. Hunter’s writing style really is beautiful. And the things these characters say to each other. Make you want to melt
The Here's To series is shaping up to be an entertaining ride of ever changing emotions and irresistible people. Teagan Hunter appeals to what makes us most human. Whether it be insecurities or responsibilities, she connects with readers on a deeper level. What I find to be most refreshing is she never loses the wit and charm that lights up every tale. Here's To Yesterday is Maura and Tucker's story. Sometimes what we thought we wanted becomes what we never intended it to be. Maura is making her way out of the shadows and finding her place within the light. Tucker is the life of the party, but wishes for more than just a jolly good time. Amidst the complications of life, love and heartache emerges a love story that makes it's mark on the heart.
This is book two in the Here's To series but it can be read as a standalone. This is Maura's story. If you read Here's to Tomorrow then you have already met Maura. So the blurb starts with "You're not supposed to fall in love with your boyfriend's brother..." I was kind of like oh I don't know if I'm going to like this one. Knowing it has Maura it it I know the boys characters would be Tanner and Tucker and wondered how the transition from one to the other was going to go. I wasn't totally sold on the story line from the blurb. I jumped into this one with low hopes and I was just hoping to get a little more view of Hudson and Rea. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked this story. If was perfectly written and I really enjoyed it.
these two quotes EXACTLYYYYYYYYY ! falling for your brother’s gf trope i am your loyal soldier … i just love messy
“i hate the way you make me feel. i hate that you get me, that I want you. i hate that we’re in this situation because I’m too much of an asshole to hold it all in. i hate that i’m saying this out loud, but i can’t keep it in anymore. not when you look at me like you do,” he says softly.”
“i shouldn’t want to stand here and beg you to break up with my brother because when you look at me i feel like someone finally understands everything about me. that’s not how it’s supposed to be.”
This was better than the first two, but again, this is just a little juvenile in writing quality IMHO. I wish we would've not known about the whole Tanner end plot from the first book and would've gone in blind. The 3rd section also just went by so quickly. There was no description of their growth as individuals and then it was just... happy ever after. IDK, just missing a lot of depth.
Too long, too much narrative, just too much everything. I started to skim thinking there was a story beyond the obvious and even though there were a few surprises, it wasn't worth it for me.😔🙁😒
Here's To Yesterday was absolutely amazing and completely blew me away in all of the best ways possible! I loved Maura and Tucker's story with all of my heart, and it was even better than Rae and Hudson's in Here's To Tomorrow. And that's saying a lot, because I loved their story too. Teagan Hunter is a freaking brilliant writer and I am so happy that I discovered her beautiful and highly entertaining words, stories, and characters. I'm actually really upset with myself that I didn't start reading this amazing series earlier. She did a phenomenal job with Maura and Tucker's story, and I truly enjoyed reading every single page of it.
Maura and Tucker were amazing characters and I immediately fell in love with them and their story. I loved their personalities and chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. They both dealt with difficult situations and feelings in this book, but all of it was definitely worth it in the end. I loved that Ms. Hunter wrote the book in three parts: the first was told from Maura's POV, the second from Tucker's, and the third from both of their alternating points of view. It was amazing to see what each character was thinking and feeling throughout, and it truly made me connect with Maura and Tucker on a deeper level. They were extremely difficult not to like, and I seriously fell head over heels in love with them and their story. I loved everything about Here's To Yesterday and I honestly wouldn't change a single thing about it. It was simply perfect and I am so glad that I read it.
The secondary characters were once again wonderful and highly entertaining, and I loved getting to see all of the familiar faces from the first book. I loved this tight-knit group of friends so much, and I am extremely excited to read the rest of the books in the Here's To series.
Here's To Yesterday was truly phenomenal and I couldn't have asked for a better storyline and characters. Maura and Tucker's story is definitely one of my top favorites of 2017, and I couldn't have been more ecstatic with the conclusion. If you haven't read any of Teagan Hunter's novels yet, I implore you to do so immediately. You are truly missing out on some of the best stories and characters I have ever read!
Wow, reading this book was a roller-coaster ride, you were going emotionally up and down.
Maura is in a difficult position, she chose the wrong brother.
Now, a lot of people can judge if they want, but I feel like Maura was doing the best she could do, and you cannot chose who you fall in love with or who you give your heart to and her heart belonged to Tucker, not Tanner.
This is a messy love, where a lot of people's hearts and prides are on the line, in the end, someone will get hurt, but going through this painful journey with Maura was really tough. My heart though, my heart really broke for Tucker because the despite the painful times Maura was going through, the pain Tucker must have felt between his (sometimes dick-ish of a) brother and the girl he is in love with.
Talk about messy as hell.
In the end though, despite all of the messy drama, the love between Tucker and Maura is beautiful, and Tucker is beyond swoon worthy, he is seriously so amazing, can I please clone him? Pretty please?
I absolutely loved Teagan Hunter's first book, Here's to Tomorrow. So when I found out she was writing another book with the same characters, I really couldn't wait to read it. Here's to Yesterday exceeded all of my expectations, it was amazing!
This book is about Maura and her journey to find herself and what she really wants out of life. Throughout her journey we see all of the same characters from Here's to Tomorrow. These characters are my absolute favorite. Their interactions and banter are so, so funny. And the chemistry between the two main characters is intense!
This book made me feel so many things, anger, sadness, hope and happiness. I loved taking this journey with Maura and seeing her discover herself for the first time.
I can't wait to read Teagan Hunter's next book to learn more about these characters and see what happens next!
Story of Maura and Tucker, Tanner's half brother. Maura's realizing that she doesn't really love Tanner because she can't be her true self with him... and that her overbearing, abusive parents love him that it's hard for her to cut the cord, with him and them.
Tucker can see M isn't happy and tried to befriend her, but together they realize that they're really into each other.
This is yet another story where parents can f-stuff up for their kids. And a cheating story I could actually stomach.
Oh Wow! What a 4.5 emotional ride!!! All the feels! I loved it, I hated it, I laughed, I cringed, I hurt and then it all got back together again and I loved it even more.
This is Teagan' s second book which can be read as a standalone but you wouldn't want to miss the introduction of this crazy family. (first book is free until jan 14, then this book will drop to 0.99 for a couple of days too. Go grab them!!!!).
4.5 stars I really enjoyed this book. IMO Teagan has grown so much from her debut novel. I love these characters. Tucker is amazing and so sweet. I like the pace of their relationship and how it evolved. Maura's character surprised me she isn't quite what you would expect from Here's to tomorrow I love how things weren't rushed and they had time to grow.
Holy twisty twist of twists, Batman! This story will shock your socks off. Completely took me by surprise. Throughout, there is tenderness and compassion mixed with a whole lot of doubt and "what ifs". Read this. You'll let out a big huge sigh (not telling you why) when you're done. I highly recommend reading Here's to Tomorrow first, but it's not a requirement.
Holy not what I was expecting. Here’s to Yesterday was a wonderful novel. I was sucked in from the very beginning. I really wanted to know about Rae’s best friend and this Tanner guy I didn’t like too much. This book gave me that and more. I was not expecting what happened in these pages. This book has drama, but what good book doesn’t? This book also has a lot of sweet and charming moments.
The plot of this book was written well. The author took it somewhere I was not expecting. I really thought I was going to get one book, but I got an entirely different one. I don’t want to say too much in fear of spoiling it, but holy heck did I love the plot line in this book.
Maura is an interesting character. I liked her in the first book, but I felt there was more to her than I was seeing. This book showed that I was right. Maura had an interesting childhood that lead to who she is now. She is caged and just waiting for the right time to bust free. I loved her journey. Then you have Tanner. In the first book, I didn’t care for him too much. It was implied that he had a sweet side, but I wasn’t quite sure. Add in the element of Tucker and holy heck lets say drama. Tucker is my dream man. He is funny and sweet. Plus he has a guitar so yeah.
The heat in this book is there, but it is muted. It isn’t all fireworks from the start. This book isn’t as focused on the heat, but that is a good thing. This book dives into some serious topics that have certain lines that cannot be crossed. This book did a good job toeing those lines and giving us just enough story with a touch of heat.
I liked the way this book was written. It is separated into three sections. Her, Him, and Them. I liked that format. We were able to see from each character’s point of view and watch the drama unfold. The pace of the book was steady. It didn’t feel like it was dragging on. The characters were written well.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Even with it touching on a sensitive topic, I feel like it was addressed well. I especially liked the message that you cannot live your life for someone else. In the end, you won’t be happy. That resonated with me because I have had to come to that same conclusion on my own. Even with getting some flak from others, I have stuck to it and I hope Maura does too.
Maura's story had a lot more angst to it than Rae's and if you know me by now than you know I loved it! Honestly the plot in this book was amazing and so was the way it was written. The book is divided into 3 parts, Her, Him and Them which is super cute and really allowed us to get to know the characters and see how they were dealing with all of what was going on while they weren't together.
I won't get into details because if I do I'm sure it will spoil something and we don't want that. I'm not even telling who Him is back that is half the fun and the angst. Seriously I was not expecting the events in this book even though thinking back you kind of can see it coming. Anyway it was amazing and I loved me the angsty goodness that it was. Musicians are my thing, just like angst.
This book pulled on my heartstrings and made me tear up in sadness and frustration but I loved it anyway. I loved Him more than Hudson and I can't wait to see if I'll love Gaige even more. There's a lot to him that I want to discover.

Here's to Yesterday is book 2 of the Here's To series by Taegan Hunter. I am a lover of love triangles so this book caught my eye. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the book. Here's to Yesterday is more than about falling in love with your boyfriend's brother. It's a powerful story about stepping outside your comfort zone and being brave to follow your heart instead of conforming to other people's expectations.
I was expecting a lot of angst and judgement just like any other love triangle book. However, I love Taegan's way on handling a very well-used storyline. Instead of focusing majorly on Tucker and Maura's turmoil and guilt, the story brought out their friendship and trust that they built while they were trying to fight against their attraction towards each other. Both main characters were very likeable and the supporting characters were well placed. There were some laughing moments, some frustrating moments and some tearful moments.
Although the Here's To series was revolved a group of close friends, each book was a complete standalone and has a different theme. I was able to get into this group of friends without any confusion and sense of loss. Overall, I really enjoyed this well-balanced and engaging story and would recommend it to others.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I did not care for Maura at all... I didn't care for her in Rae's book either. But Tucker! I loved Tucker!!
Maura is one of those girls that just doesn't know who she is or even what she wants and for me, I can't relate as much to just doing something to please others. So her dating Tanner because he was the "easier" choice for her parents and image in general just pissed me off. Especially for her to hold out so long on sharing herself with others and then just throwing it away.
Tucker is one of the most patience men I've ever read. He waited for a long time to pursue Maura. I would be so mad at my brother for going after the girl I'd told him I was interested in.
The reader can see from the beginning that Tucker is the one for Maura and she is just making herself miserable by being with a man she doesn't love instead. That being said the chemistry between the two was off the charts!
Sadly, this book just went on too long for me.. I think this book could have been a novella and gotten the same point across. The major issue that came about at the end was unnecessary too. It blindsided me and honestly I think was taken too far.
I'm interesting to see what happens with Gaige because he has been the most tight lipped this whole series and I'm interested in knowing his story.
Here’s to Yesterday by Teagan Hunter “Heartache and healing, 5 stars”
Tucker has wanted Maura since he spotted her in a coffee shop. Life decided to send him a curveball in the form of her dating his brother. A brother who doesn’t know what he has. When Tucker sees Maura start to fold in on herself he decides to step in and make sure she gets out. What starts out as harmless somehow grows. Maura was drawn to Tucker when she met him but because of her past she went for his brother. The two are opposites. When Maura starts to see her relationship isn’t all its cracked up to be she finds her self in over her head. Will she stay with the one who makes her feel like an object or will she leave him for the one who makes her feel everything? There is no cheating in Here’s to Yesterday. These two just become best friends while Maura is with Tuckers brother. Then tragedy strikes that forces these two apart. When they finally come back together will they finally get there shot, or will it be too late? This is probably my favorite book in the Here’s To series and that’s saying something because normally I hate love triangles. These two both brought something different to the table and really balanced each other out. I was rooting for them from the start. This isn’t an easy love story, its messy. So, prepare yourself. Plot-5/5 Characters-5/5 Heat-5/5 Writing style-5/5 Overall-5/5
So I have read this previously, and the second time around, it was still a good read.
Rae doesn’t know what to do with her life. She just graduated with a marketing degree and she can’t find a job, so she’s working as a waitress. And to top it off she has a car that keeps on breaking down. But maybe her day just looked up when she meets the hot mechanic who is fixing her car. If only she can contain what comes out of her mouth, lol
Hudson is a single dad who’s life is looking up. He has a job he loves, a daughter he adores and soon he will have the home that he’s always wanted. Then he meets a girl who is straightforward and doesn’t mind speaking her mind. And everything is falling into place for him because she agreed to go on a date with him. Not what he expected but they seem to be the perfect match for each other. But can a relationship work when both parties have secrets that they are not sharing with each other?

Truly sweet romantic story. Both parties struggling to find their happily ever after but also learning to trust the other with their secrets. Definitely a plus for me.
This is my favorite book in this series.... but be warned... this story isn't always sweet and pretty.
I'm still speachless, because for me this book has inside a lot of more history than, You'll read on the cover.
We know Maura and Tucker from the first books this series. They seems to be cool and fun.... They started from hate, then friendship go by... but when You look closely You'll see broken souls and hearts. They try not to fall for each other, because they can't... There’s always Tanner behind them, no matter what....
When I was startnig this book, I didn't expect what this story give me.... really
What "hit me" literaly the most ???
That this book isn't only about love between man and woman... this story is also about love between children and their parents.... and how much lack of feelings can take people to wrong choices in Your life...
Wow just wow, i adored book one and i seriously love this one! I loved Tucker from the little bits i saw of him in the first book and this one just solified that for me.
Maura is in a relationship with Tucker’s brother, but she isn’t happy. She is use to living her life the way it’s expected due to her overbearing parents, rather then the way she wants or in a way that will make her happy. Until Tucker convinces her that she need’s to live her life the way she want’s. Tucker quickly worms his way into her life.....and into her heart.
Tucker, swoon. The guy can sing, can play guitar, is sweet, hot and caring what is not to like? Like Maura however he molded his life choices around other people, and just like Maura he slowly learns to live his life the way he want’s, but will that be with or without the girl he has secretly loved for over a year?
