REA’s CLEP American Government Test Prep Earns You College Credits! New from REA! CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) is the College Board’s credit-by-examination program for more than 30 subjects. Each exam passed earns the student between 3-12 credits at 2,900 colleges in the U.S. and abroad. Our test prep for the CLEP American Government exam comes with two full-length practice tests and detailed explanations of every answer. The comprehensive review covers all American Government topics found on the official exam, including the institutions and policy processes of the federal government; the federal courts and civil liberties; political parties and interest groups; political beliefs and behavior; and the content and history of the Constitution. Also contains test-taking tips and study strategies to boost confidence on test day.
Second edition, copyrighted in 2013 and published in 2024. A quick, affordable read to review American government and politics for the CLEP (College-Level Examination Program). The author remains politically neutral for most of the book, with a few random asides. It includes a couple of practice exams and access to additional online material. My only complaint is that the content has been only minimally updated since the 2008 election—the most noticeable change being the inclusion of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. A solid study guide, but not exactly compelling reading on its own.
Update: easily passed with an adjusted score of 73 (20: low, 50: pass, 80: high)
Really great resource for passing the CLEP exam. I studied this book for about a week, took the practice tests online (the same version as in the back of the book), and passed with flying colors. I had no previous knowledge of American Government, aside from what I learned in 8th grade, many many many years ago. There were a few questions that I had no idea on and I’m not sure if the topics were covered in this book, or if the information just did not stick. Had I studied anything else in addition to this book, perhaps those gaps would have been filled. But I’m pleased with the result. I passed the test and no longer have to take the full course for credit! It’s all I can ask for.
