A word from the Hello and thank you for your interest in my book. It has come to my attention that some people have been mistaking my books for those written by the famous author duo Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. This is not the case. I wish to clarify that I am not, by any means, related to Douglas Preston or Lincoln Child, Lee Child or any other author called Preston Child. I hope this clears up the confusion.
Still learning about writing and marketing books. When I'm not writing, I'm usually checking out single malts at The Black Cat, Rose St, Edinburgh. Join me :-)
On the whole I did enjoy this but found towards the end I was waiting for something to happen. The reason for this is because the story jumps about in time and with a lot of characters this happened a lot, as each characters thinks of something in there past that effects there future. Other than that I enjoyed it and liked the idea of the plot. Many of the characters from the first book also appear in this book, as it continues from where the last finished but you don't need to have listened to the first book to understand it. Mark has settled back into life at work, that is until his old friend the professor turns up unexpectedly and asks for his professional help. Divers are disappearing from a small island and the professor knows why. Mark enlists help from a business man and Grandfather to one of his students, this is because this time he needs a submarine. The professor doesn't tell them but the team is on the hunt for the hand of king Midas that lays at the bottom of the sea. It is on land that they find there greatest danger in the form of an old foe . He has plans to get his own back and finally get what he wants, even if it means causing civil unrest amongst the small island community. Can Mark and his team get to the bottom of the disappearance or will they have to call in the big guns. The narrator is the big reason I choose to listen to this book.
Always enjoy book on archeology and this was good this was a secret having connection to Greek mythology. This had more action and suspense Given audio which was good for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Mark Lockheed and team return, this time hoping to help the professor stop a disaster that he first encountered in his youth. The trip is made more difficult with the return of an old enemy set for revenge.
I intentionally skipped Book 1 in the series due to it's subject matter. I enjoy a good Holy Grail chase, but couldn't plow through the unbiblical view the author created. Regardless, I jumped to Book 2.
I was intrigued by the plot. This particular Greek Myth isn't often explored anymore. It had all the makings of an incredible adventure. In some aspects, it succeeded. The story surrounding Saint Kitts was well done. I wish the author had tunnel vision to stick with only that plot line. There was way too much information about the characters & their backgrounds. Too much time was wasted on scenes having nothing to do with the Saint Kitts plot.
It almost felt like the author kept changing his mind on the book's direction, deleting, & trying again. I was drastically disappointed in the ending as well. I won't go into it as it will spoil the book. Although it is the second in a series, I found it to be able to stand alone. There is a back story, developing from the first book, but readers should have no problem following along.
I am going to continue a bit with the series & hope it will improve. Fingers crossed that not every ending is a cliffhanger of sorts. I give it 3 stars.
I'm not really sure what this story is about. Some of the text deals with an object from Greek mythology. More of it deals with the childhood and teenage woes of the members of an archeological team and their billionaire benefactor. Add a bloody uprising on the island of St. Kitts, and. finally, a lot of loose ends, and that's it.
The team gets in trouble again... A quick fun read about Mark and Kathy from the first book as they get involved in another archeological thriller. I am curious to find out how the Professor and Marissa end up.
