Poor description of bdsm experience
The story starts out as Master Gallant is to train a submissive Miss Katherine because of a debt owed to the owner of a club or inn as it is referred to. Here is where I find fault a submissive Miss Terrel pushes her self into the training sessions because she only wants Master Gallant as her Master ,so she decides she will do what ever it takes to get his attention. She acts out and disrespects his authority from the first meeting and continues to do so in and out of the training setting. I just hated her character she was far to forward for a submissive . A Master puts up with such actions ? This was historical setting maybe that was the reason for this story line.
I read on for about another 25% of this book so at 57% I couldn't read anymore. I could have kept describing the story but it was more of the same until she apprehended him had an employee from the establishment tie him with a hood on and started hitting him with her hands and a crop and started to dominate Master Gallant that's when I decided to quit this story. I just couldn't bring myself to continue with this book.
I am sorry I purchased the other books at one time I enjoy reading a series without waiting for the next book. So I've wasted time and money on something which I will delete from my kindle without even opening the other 3 books.

Have you ever been surprised that you were really into a book? I was taken aback when I read this one. Not in a bad way either.
I received this book as a freebie from a giveaway that I can't recall. I thought it to be a modern BDSM tale, but quickly discovered it to be a historical fiction. While not opposed to this genre, it is not my usual choice.
Set in the 1800s in an English brothel for men of means and certain BDSM fetishes, the book was unexpectedly provoking. Never have I felt arousal at the hands of 19th century prose. There was an enchantment with the way the author stayed true to the use of language of that era. Normally put off by this, I found myself enraptured and wanting more.
The storyline was a bit annoying and took a tad too long to develop, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5. I did not bond with the main character Miss Terrell, a 'blackamoor' who was a former slave, now under the employ of a Madame. She was described as almost irresistible and she was well versed in her craft. What I hated about her was her desperation to become a sub for Master Gallant.
Though he was a kind man who knew his way around the bedroom, I could not understand why Miss Terrell kept throwing herself at him. She ended up raping the man to get what she wanted. Only then did he succumb to her wantonness.
It put me off that such a beauty was so desperate for his approval, that she actually never received, bY the way. There is a sequel, so the author left this open for the next books in the series. I am curious enough to read the next installment, but not right away.

I have to be honest this book was free and I grabbed it because of the title. I didn't realize it was a Historical romance- which I don't care for but I can't penalize the author because of my mistake. So I put that behind me to write the review. This is a well written book and has a great story. It is very erotic which I enjoyed. It you want a hot read I recommend this book.

Miss Terrell is unflinching in her desire to gain the favor of Master Gallant. He is determined to stay away to not anger a political ally. Like Adam with Eve, he will partake of the forbidden fruit. Unconventional ending and I will pass on the next chapter but good story nevertheless.

This novel had a lot of good moments, a lot of sweet moments, and a lot of amazing moments that just brought a warm smile to my face; however, there were the times were it would lull and I would think about placing it down in favor of another, but in the end I'm glad I stuck it out and finished it.

I loved Master Gallant but this is the first book in a long time time where I did not want to read the rest of the series. I am curious to see where it went but Miss Terrell does nothing. I did not care for her character. I am not sure it just didn’t pull me in enough to continue with the series. I just could not buy into the story.

Unfortunately, as steamy as the scenes were, they seemed rather two dimensional to me and I had a tough time getting though the book. This ended in a cliffhanger that I will not be continuing on with.

Very Hot read. It's not your typical Bdsm romance. For a start both the hero and heroine work in a bawdy house. Very refreshing to read about a mixed relationship in those times.

Ms. Terrell is a submissive whose submissive talents are bought by Sir Arthur, but her wanton desires lies to Master Gallant and tries several attempts to seduce him. I had to admire Miss Terrell for her mischievious ways provoking Master Gallant while he is emotionally torn between being honorable or giving in to his desires. I was drawn to this complex tale of bdsm and loved every word. I am looking forward to the next book. Lovely job, Ms. Brown

Getting use to
This was my first read from this author and to also read a period piece. I loved this story. Ms Terrell puts me off her as she is very blunt and speaks out of turn especially for someone who was a previous slave, you would of thought that as a former slave that you would be very cautious in your approach and that you would not be so brazen as to approach a white male Dom to have you're wicked way with you as your self esteem would of been knocked or being black that he would not desire you. Ms Terrell has a lot of gaul and affront. Rather her than me if I was in her position. Most definitely will look out for this author's future books. Well written and very intriguing.

If Miss Terrell is anything she is tenacious! I loved this story. Miss Terrell and Charles could not have been a more unlikely couple based on personality alone. She insists she will make a good submissive to him and he and I certainly have doubts about that. But under all the sassy and seductive personality of Miss Terrell, there is an enigmatic and insecure woman who is afraid to dream of bigger things outside of just the comforts in life. Charles is already finding it hard to resist knowing more of that part of her. I really adore this series and the idea of these two being together, if not for a certain Sir Arthur being in the way.

This was intriguing, particularly for the fact that it is an interracial pairing set in a historical romance. I enjoyed the journey. I was only sad that it came to an end and I wasn't able to continue onto the next book immediately. The language and grammar were a bit stuffy at times for my taste, but I guess it was to be expected in this case. I'm a bit disappointed that there was no conclusion, so, I can only imagine where the outcome lies for these two characters. The options are limited after all since it isn't a modern day setting.

I first read the finale of the series prior to reading this "series" opener. So although I knew how it ended, I wanted to see how it started. I was NOT disappointed! Steamy, manipulative, and engaging. It was a pleasure to witness how the relationship came about and I look forward to plunging into book two of the trilogy.

In the 1800's in England is the Red Chrysanthemum, a place that is much like a bordello, but there are dominant and submissive women, and a man Charles Gallant. Gallant is there to repay a debt to the owner, Madame Devereux. He trains women in the art of submission. The love of his life is Mistress Scarlet, the daughter of the apothecary, was a dominant and he made her a submissive in front of the whole club. She left and has not returned, as much as Charles wants her. His current job is to train a new wife, Katherine Wendlesson. Lord Wendlesson is an older man and wants his wife immediately submissive, so he can have an heir. A blackamoor from Barbados, Miss Terrel, has been hired by Sir Arthur, whom many rumors of violence have spread throughout the establishment.
