Ishk has made it his job to protect his home planet from human females. Instead of offering to help Earth, the Karal should simply take the females they need, to breed the next generation, and imprison them in the breeding house. Forced to take a mate for himself, he is adamant that he is one Karalian who will never fall under the spell of a female from Earth
Evie is desperate, with no home she is forced to live on the streets, finding shelter wherever she can. In a bid to be more than a forgotten soul on the dying Earth, she enters the lottery, never expecting to win. She certainly never expected her lottery "prize" to be the hard faced, emotionless Ishk.
Can a life on Karal, with an alien who hates everything about your species, be better than the life she wants to escape?
Made to take one of the human females, Ishk takes her to his bed and mates with her, knowing it is his duty to produce a son before the Prime passes. However, while Evie is in his bed, he still intends to convince the Hier Council that Earth females should not be allowed to roam the planet. He believes that a smaller number of females should be taken and kept for breeding purposes, and shared amongst the Karal. It would put less strain on the planet's resources and save their sons the heartache of watching two parents die.
Yet when faced with the true facts about his plans, can he change? Or will it be too late and his past deeds will ruin the future he now craves.
Hunger: Chosen by the Karal, contains scorching hot sex scenes and is meant for adults only.

Just my way of saying thank you for giving my books a try.
This was a nice addition to this series but I did't enjoy it quite as much as books 2 and 3. I liked the idea of this book but I would have liked the heroine to have made the hero work harder. I completely believed the hero was sorry but I think the heroine through out this book was too giving and too ok with everything, and willing to accept whatever. She does stick up for herself a little but after everything I wanted her to be stronger. My other concern with this book was that for me the HEA was not strong enough. After everything these 2 had been through I wanted a more solid HEA. All in all not bad but I had hopes for more.
The worst book of the set. And I had some hopes since Ishk did not use the sex simulator. He was a true virgin. But that backfired on me. We don’t get his POV, just him.. practically raping her. And her POV. Not sure how she is not tore up considering the pals who liked it struggled. So not liking it… seems like she would be jacked up. Plus I hated this hero in the last book and hated him here so…. This book was a big bummer for me.
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 4/5 Innocence in losing it: 3/5 Build up to losing it: 2/5 Hotness of losing it: 1.5/5 Busted touching himself: no POV of losing it: female
COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING, TOTALLY COMPELLING AND DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Hunger Series: Chosen by the Karal Designation: Book Four, BBW Alien Romance, Standalone Novella Author: Harmony Raines Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING STARS ***** Wow! Harmony Raines has strutted her stuff and once again surprised us all with a foray into the wonderful world of science fiction and what a delightfully entertaining treat it is! Hunger is the fourth book in her riveting new series, Chosen by the Karal and it totally rocks, people! Raines has outdone herself - again! I admit, I've been really looking forward to the release of this story, probably more so than any of the others, and it was definitely worth the wait! Harmony Raines nailed it! It is, without a doubt, the most emotionally charged release to date. When I wasn't sobbing my eyes out, I was waving my fists and seething with anger. It was utterly perfect! I have loved each and every book of this series so it's difficult to pick a favorite but this story really captured my heart and tugged at my heartstrings. By the end of the book, I was blubbering like a big baby. So be forewarned, have your box of tissue at the ready! Each release of the series is a standalone novella with no cliffhanger, each revolving around the same premise but featuring a different couple and also includes many of the characters from previous books. Now having said that, I would like to highly recommend reading the books in order to maximize the enjoyment of your reading experience. This is just so exciting! I love science fiction! The premise of the series: In a near future dystopian earth, the planet is overpopulated and on the verge of destruction. The air is polluted and there is a severe shortage of food, fuel, natural resources and breathable oxygen. Many of earth's animals are now extinct. Six months ago, an alien race called the Karal arrived via a wormhole offering to help mankind and save the day in exchange for an alliance and breedable women. Wait! What? Women? A lottery has been called and women that meet certain criteria have the option to enter their names in the drawing. And just what is the prize if you win the lottery, you ask? To move to the planet Karal where food and oxygen is abundant, become the very lucky mate to one of the handsome aliens, serve as his personal broodmare and become an alien baby machine. Huh? Wait, that's the prize?
Hier Council member Ishk may have been ordered by Lytril, the Hier Ruler, to come to Earth and claim the next female lottery winner but that certainly doesn't mean he has to like it. Quite the opposite in fact! The people, the planet and especially the human woman Evie Miller disgust him. All he wants to do is get this over with as quickly as possible and return to his home planet of Karal so that he can resume his plans of conspiracy to overthrow the Hier Ruler. The Hier Ruler has been influenced by the wiles and sorcery of the earth females. It's time for the citizens of Karal to oust the current Hier Ruler. The idea that humans deserved special treatment from Karal was false and his species needs to wake up and just take the women they need without recompense before it's too late. His planet needs a new Hier Ruler and who better to lead than himself. He would never allow himself to be swayed by whatever magic they use over his fellow Karalians. He would show Lytril and the other Karalians that he is the strongest among them. He doesn't care about love or sex. He wants no part of either. Even the idea of having sex with a human was disgusting but he would do his duty and breed with the repulsive female. As soon as she becomes pregnant with his son, he will send her to the breeding house to live and once his child is born, another Karalian would be welcome to her, as it has been done in past generations and as it should be done now. He would never allow the human female to remain with him in his home and raise his son. Never going to happen! Or would it??? Hmmm....I wonder???
Evie Miller has been homeless and destitute since the violent death of her parents when she was only a child. She had come to the city for a fresh start, a new beginning but her dream had quickly turned to a nightmare. Living on the streets and avoiding the men that wanted to use her body was becoming harder every day. She began to think her death would be a welcome respite from her life of misery. She wanted to escape her constant hunger, desperation and anguish. And for that reason, she entered the Lottery and if she won, her prize would be an alien. Huh? Oh yes, she would become a baby factory for the aliens but at least she would be away from the dangers of earth. Three women had already been chosen and were now living on Karal with food, clothes and clean air. But after winning the Lottery and meeting Ishk, "her prize", Evie quickly begins to suspect that no matter how terrible her life is now on earth, it will only become worse on Karal with Ishk who only wants to use her body to breed and produce a son. He is arrogant, condescending and cruel. She would rather be sent to the breeding house than live with him. She could never love a "man" like him! Or could she??? I wonder???
The book is exceptionally well written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view and gives the reader an insightful peek into the mindset of both primary characters. The story is exciting, original, inventive, unusual, well crafted, fast-paced, romantic and arousing. The dialogue is well executed and flows effortlessly. The characters are unique, fascinating, captivating, well developed, engaging and endearing. Raines skillfully combines these elements into a brilliantly entertaining science fiction story filled with adventure, heartbreak and romance. No spoilers from me but I will say this...Beautiful, curvaceous human who has already lost so much in her life-check! Handsome, pig-headed Karalian Hier COuncil member who refuses to acknowledge his emotions or the needs of his planet-check! Danger, drama, adventure, an unexpected apology, a change of heart and an awakening that will leave you breathless-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, heartbreaking angst, sweet romance and a rebirth of love for two lost souls-you bet! That and a whole lot more! I know I've said it before but I'll say it again; this is by far, the most emotionally charged story to date! I loved it! Harmony Raines, you really nailed this one! I can hardly wait for the next book in this exciting new series! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!!! My Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFUL STARS *****
This was a truly unique story of finding romance and adventure in space. Evie a young woman who is faced with hardships and possible death on earth is in a lottery for human females to become mates for alien men on another. This dramatically different story packed with lots of thrilling adventure and action and drama between two very different people was a truly amazing read.
Hunger (Chosen by the Karal Book 4) by Harmony Raines. Ishk is to have a female from earth but he doesn’t want one. He prefers the old ways. Evie is the one picked and as much as he doesn’t want her she begins to get under his skin.
Earth is dying from pollutants and over use of resources. An alien race is searching for mating vessels to continue their dying race. They find them on Earth where they form an alliance. In Hunger by Harmony Raines a lottery has been created to allow males a chance to find a mate. They need a mate to breed with before the male is no longer virile. Ishk sits on the high council and has been chosen to receive this gift by the Hier Ruler, but he doesn't feel softness towards the earthlings and their plight. He believes they serve one purpose and that is to carry their offspring and should not be allowed to roam freely on their pollution free planet.
This is a quick read and although I haven't read the previous books in the series I was able to follow the story. Evie and Ishk have many differences to overcome. Evie's background is a skim (bottom feeder) and she is considered lower than scum. Her parents were killed when she was young and she was left to fend for herself. Ishk lost his father at a young age and fought hard to return to his farming roots and be a voice for his people amongst the high council.
This science fiction romance was entertaining. The author creates the Karal world and the characters beautifully.
Book 4) This series makes you think. Sci-Fi tale with the dying planet Earth, and an alien species needing women to replenish their generation. A lottery will be held so a female can go to their planet to mate and procreate their species. These aliens are virgins, but have studied what to do. Evie is herself a virgin, and this new world is different, but fresh and exciting. Ishk is cold and indifferent as he meets her. After more research, he realizes his mistake at their mating, he never finished the training. He didn't please her, and he's ashamed. He must make it up to her. Feelings are changing on his planet as the females are introduced and begin to bring out the repressed emotions of the alien race. Their plan has to change if this new generation is to thrive. Interesting story, hot sex, and deep characters make this worthwhile. Ishk finally explains his new opinions to the council, and that he wants his Evie with him, always. This can be a stand alone, but I think would be more fun for the reader if you know the characters as the series develops. Well written, realistic and telling, this is a fun series. Highly recommend. ENJOY !!
I've been reading this series through the Kindle Unlimited program. Harmony Raines is a talented author who weaves interesting worlds with wonderful characters. Unfortunately I just could not get over what a jerk the main character Ishk was and no matter how much I learned the reasons for his behavior. The main female character Evie is great but I got the feeling that even Evie figured out Ishk was such a self centered jerk that there relationship might never get to a place of love and trust. This is the first time I've had a "happily-for-now" ending by Ms Raines. Hunger was too short and the story seemed to jump around too much. If your reading the series I'd still recommend reading this book so you can keep up with the characters and story.
I have really enjoyed this series, however I found that though I didn't mind this book, it wasn't as enjoyable as the rest of the series. I really didn't think much of Ishk at the beginning and though the story of his background came to light, shaping the adult he is, I was sympathetic But still struggled to like him. As for Evie she just didn't have the strength of character I have come to expect from the ladies in the series. I have been looking forward to the next book as Okil is a huge favourite of mine and I would like to see that he gets his happily ever after.
The male lead was a hard character to develop sympathy with. What he had done in the previous book was just too cruel. The female lead was extremely vulnerable and considering what she went through I found it hard to believe she would be so sympathetic with Ishk. Good story, but at the same time probably needed more pages of content to make the turnabout believable.
an orphaned and homeless earth woman is given to a misogynistic alien who only wants to breed her then send her away and take the child when it's born leaving the woman alone in a prison called the breeding house. then he starts to feel things and his research shows his ideas are wrong to begin with. eventually he regrets his mistake and convinces her to start over.
Warning: adult sex scenes. Forced to take a human mate, Ishk makes clear his disgust. The human girl who won the lottery to be his mate and live on Karal (with clean air and water and food) has been beaten down so far by unscrupulous humans that even arrogant Ishk is a step up for her. What happens to a breeder human when her mate kicks her out?
Well-written story with lots of heart. A really interesting world created and loved all the hot steamy scenes. I just love the the series and I am ready for characters to have their story told.
I Really loved this book and all of the series. I hope Okil's story will be coming soon. The characters are well depicted and the plots are GREAT. I am not a very good reviewer, but this series hooked me and I unable to put the stories away.
What can you say when the 'book' is a only 100+ pages long..... the author touches on some heavy topics like lost childhood due to sudden parental death, etc. but there's no depth or development. Just a rush through ideas over the pages. Shame really. I would have enjoyed it. The talent is there.
Wow what a book Evie was such a wonderful character and Ishk boy did he have that humble pie coming. I disliked him so much in the beginning but the author did such a great job with him by the end you are routing for his redemption. Great book
Hunger was intriguing. The alien was a little cruel. But he makes up for it. I enjoyed reading it and I can't wait for the next one, Okil's looking forward to his book.
