I found this book in one of the thousands of Little Free Libraries in Gainesville, Florida, located specifically between NE 10th Pl and 7th Terrace. I also found other books I found interesting, such as "Florida Brides" by Muncy G. Chapman and "Freedom on the Menu: The Greensboro Sit-Ins," written by Carole Boston Weatherford and cartooned by Jerome Lagarrigue.
The book is a very easy and quick read, and its vocabulary is very simple for someone who speaks English as a second language.
All the drawings are beautiful and very feminine. Looking at them makes you want to go to a tea party, in the purest English style, Alice in Wonderland style, or Victorian style, all very elegant, sophisticated, delicate, and subtle.
I would definitely read more books by this author, both for her drawings and her writing. I hope this is the first of many fabulous reading experiences, the kind that transport you to different places just by reading them.
What a sweet book! This is a cute gift for a toddler (the board book) or preschool child (the hardback version). Adding a tea set would be a perfect combination. My granddaughter and I love to have teatime together, and this rhyming book details all the elements of a tea celebration, complete with invitation, blessing and thank you note. Charming!
Bug kept grabbing this one off the shelf! She carried it all over the children's library for a while. She wouldn't sit still for the whole story, but she did let me read the whole story!
