Beneath the Current

Rate this book
Casey is different, and not just the usual different. Stolen at age 5 from the lab that created him, he's been content to live with his 'uncle' in solitude for years, safe & protected, with the vast ocean surrounding him.
So when a stranger shows up on their island at the cottage next door, it shatters their carefully constructed peace. Can Casey manage to keep his secret or will this stranger destroy everything he's managed to keep under the currents?

Warning: not your typical merman story, includes physical and mental abuse. This is a m/m story and contains sexual relationships between men. Please do not read if any of this bothers you.

I don’t usually read merman stories or many shifter stories either...or sci-fi. So, this was a surprise for me that I begun to read and did finish the book. The idea was good and unique, also thrilling, and although some events and turns were predictable, they were all really good.

Didn't care for the MCs. Casey was shallow. Shawn was just meh. DNF.

I really liked the different take on the merman theme. It was so sad how Wyatt felt guilty over his "uncle's" death and felt like he was a monster, a mutant. He definitely needed Shawn to see the real him.

One of the better merman stories I've read. I really liked Casey and Shawn was ok. I despised Martin and can't say I regret how things ended with him. He kinda deserved it for what he did. The ending seemed a tad rushed, but other than that it's a good book.
