Fire Bear Shifters #2

A Spark to Bear

Rate this book
Baker extraordinaire Riley Hughes needs a little time alone, and a solo hike through a nearby wilderness seems like just the thing. But her peaceful trek soon becomes terrifying when she finds herself caught on the wrong side of an enormous wildfire. Luckily for Riley, a strong, handsome firefighter sweeps in at the last moment to save her. She gets a second chance at life—and a sexy new boyfriend. But when her new love interest reveals his shocking secret side, Riley has to decide whether starting over with someone so different from her is worth the risk.

Hunter Wilson is one fearless bear shifter. As a smokejumping firefighter, he regularly jumps out of planes and takes on giant flames. But beneath his tough guy exterior hides a sweet, sensitive bear. A bear who wants nothing more than to take care of Riley, the beautiful woman he's convinced is his lifemate. The only problem is that stubborn, independent Riley doesn’t want to rely on a man for anything—especially not when that man is hiding a bear inside of him. Hunter has a chance to make Riley's lifelong dream of running her own bakery come true, but he'll have to convince her that's he committed to her for the long haul.

Can Riley trust that she really does have a future with Hunter? And will Hunter convince Riley to believe that her biggest dreams are possible? Find out in the second installment of the Fire Bear Shifters Series.

Content Warning: This 30K word novella is a standalone with no cliffhangers. As you would expect, firefighting bear shifters know how to heat things up! Expect explicit love scenes and adult language. Rawr!

A sweet and cute shifter romance. Hunter was my favorite shifter in book one and in this second book he finds his life mate and HEA. The start to their relationship is intense and the writing was vividly cool. The description of the fire and surviving it Ning over the was intense.

The relationship is fast paced and an almost instalove on both parts. Zach is still way quick to anger which is annoying, but the other group dynamics were fun and the talk between Hunter and Luke was sweet and heartfelt.

This is a fun and easy series to read. There is not much backstory given, but it is still an enjoyable world and group.

Short chapters. A good read. Wish more shapeshifting in it. But good.

Riley has had a rotten few weeks. She’s been fired from a job she loved, not because she wasn’t good but because the new owner didn’t see the value in spending the money on her. Her boyfriend broke up with her shortly after that one devastating blow. So she’s taken off into the wilderness, into the mountain forests to simply think about what comes next and to accept what’s happened to her structured live.

What she never expected was to be in the direct path of a forest fire or to be running from the flames realizing that this trip may be her last.

Hunter and his crew, his clan had done all they could at this fire sight. The fire was too close and they were being taken out by helicopter. When he smelled it. Or rather smelled her, in danger, his lifemate. He did the only thing he could do – drop from the rope leading up to safety and run into the flames to rescue his mate..

Hunter and Riley’s romance is sweet, tender and a bit frantic. Discovering that your life mate is human is never easy for a shifter. There is always a chance of rejection because of fear and misunderstanding. But while Hunter may be the youngest of his clan, and most likely to be voted a sweetheart who’d never hurt a bee — there is still a lot at stake for he and Riley.

I enjoyed A Spark To Bear very much. It has given us a deeper peek into the makings of this clan and how they are adjusting (or not) to having humans among them.

A sweet story

This was a very sweet uncomplicated easy read. I don't feel like I learned very much about Reilly, however that didn't seem to distract from the story. Hunter and Reilly meet and fall in love. There are no secrets, no one kidnaps one of them or tries to ruin their relationship, there is no hiding some deep dark past that is accidentally revealed by someone else.. Hunter told her his secret up front. Reilly accepted that secret and life went on. Despite the books lack of disaster and conflict ( not including the fire), there was nothing boring about it. Sometimes its just nice to read a story that isn't constantly tearing the lead couple apart.
I enjoyed it very much and found Hunter very sweet and amazing. Again I feel like I don't know too much about Reilly but from what I do know I feel like this was the perfect match for Hunter. I hope to see more of this couple in future books.

After a break up and loosing her job, Riley decided it was a good time to try solo camping. Hunter is the youngest and easiest going member of his team. One fire changes everything. Will Hunter be able to keep them safe? Will Riley accept Hunter for who he is?

LOVE Hunter! Loved Hunter's quick acceptance and camaraderie in the first book with Charlotte, but he proved again in this book, how good he was. Didn't blame Riley for her independent streak, but loved that she accepted help when it came down to it. Great second book to this series!

Fire bear Romance - no cliffhanger

Kindle Unlimited book. Standalone in a series. He jumps from the plane because he smells a female....could it be his mate. Will she be able to accept his bear?

Not much of a Spark.

3 1/2 Stars. Hunter and Riley's story was very sweet. Not much of a plot unfortunately. This bear shifter, though sexy....could have had a little more spark. I am hoping book 3 is better.

Book Two

In this second book of this series, another smoke jumper bites the dust...well, finds his true mate, anyway. This was another good story - and in this genre, that can be hard to find!

Another quick book

This was another quick read like book 1. Since it is so short everything is rushed and quick. Like book 1 it is ok but not much really going on.
