Audiobook: This was my first experience with Colin Joseph Galtrey's work, and I was entertained by the story. I admired the descriptive phrases which brought the world of Derbyshie Peak District alive in my imagination. I liked the character of John Gammon and his dedication to his job as a Detective Inspector. I admired the surprising twists found in this story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I thought Mary Phillips' narration added an emotional fillip to the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I volunteered without any renumeration to post this review which listed my opinions.
I feel awful. I like my books to make me feel good. Make me feel happy. But no, I am so sad. But.....such a good plot. The mystery. The angst. The wonderful characters. The feels. A real page turner. I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. I have listened to several books narrated by Mary Phillips. She is English. Which in the other books was ok. But in this book I could not always understand her heavy British accent. 3 stars for her.
I asked my local library service in Tameside to buy this book to support Colin Galtrey who is a local author. I enjoyed the book, and hope the library will buy some more of his books, so I can carry on with the series.
It was difficult for me to get into the story - mostly due to the narration. the accent was hard to follow. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
