After seeing Tessa Grant calm his storm-spooked horse, Ethan McClure is impressed. But does the new vet have what it takes to prove her mettle with Ethan's local horse-rescue group? Ethan can't deny her healing touch with animals…or her powerful effect on this rancher. But Tessa is busy trying to get her footing after leaving Kentucky to start over in this mountain town. When she learns a family secret that turns her world upside down, Tessa's ready to push everyone away. Unless Ethan can help her embrace forgiveness—and forge a path to her heart along the way.

Ethan McClure is impressed by Tessa Grant's ability to handle his storm spooked high strung stallion. But even more so when he sees he handle a breech delivery from a maltreated mare. Her petite size had at first made him doubt her abilities, but these incidents made him welcome her to his ranching community. Ethan is head of the local horse rescue group which does a major rescue shortly after Tessa's arrival. The story covers her growing relationship with Ethan, Doc Adams the vet she has come to partner and New Mexico, an area very different from her home in Kentucky. All three people have issues to resolve. This is the third in a series revolving around a family that run several related horse therapy operations as well as their own ranches. You don't need to have read the others to enjoy this. Nice story.
Being a girl who is 5' tall and a large animal vet is not what people expect when Tessa goes to New Mexico to work with another vet. However it doesn't take her long to begin to change their minds. The story also includes some about a group of ranchers who rescue animals and of course there is a bit of love tossed in. However there are some surprises for Tessa also, some good but some not so good.
This is a nice, quick read with clean, Christian oriented romance. Throw in a story line with strong family ties, plenty of horses and a couple of surprises...and who wouldn't like it?
This is the third book featuring one of the McClure children and the author gives another wonderful, feel good story. Ethan McClure is a rugged cowboy with a damaged heart. When he encounters the new vet he’s does what so many people do, judge based on appearances. But he soon realizes that Tessa Grant is a force to be reckoned with.
The author did provide some surprises in this story that made it even more charming. I loved the interactions between Tessa and Doc, the senior veterinarian, who is set in his ways while Tessa wants to bring the practice into the 21st century.
There is also some drama in the story as Tessa, Ethan, and Mary deal with protecting seized horses from a local rancher who had neglected the animals.
The thing I like about this author is there is a solid spiritual aspect and it’s generally with more than one character. This story is no exception. More than one character faces his or her past and develops a deeper relationship with God.
The only complaint I have about this story is we don’t get to spend much time at the equine therapy ranch. But it’s still an enjoyable read.
Although this story has characters from the other two books it stands on it’s own. Recommendation
I’d recommend this for anyone looking for a light, charming love story with some interesting twist. You will find that as well as a glimpse into the human heart and God’s grace in action. Disclaimer
I did receive this book from the author, but was under no obligation other than to give my honest opinion.
3 Stars ~ This is the final book in Ms. Harris' trilogy of the McClure siblings. Earlier we had Zach, the broken veteran and Beth, the empath trying to mend everyone's emotional wounds. In this one, we have the eldest, Ethan. He's the rock, the one they all rely on but sometimes fail to see he's got his own feet of clay. Something Ethan is all to aware of, having a secret from his teens that still eats away at him.
Enter Tessa, she's a wee bit of a woman and she's the local vets new partner. Ethan's first encounter with Tess is her mending her horse with gashes by flying debris from a sudden storm. He reluctantly admires the way she handles his high strung, Ranger. It's not until she handles a weakened horse's breach birth that Ethan realizes she's up for the challenge of caring for the district's large animals. There are some dark secrets from Tessa's past that she's been oblivious to, until her mother makes a visit and meets the Dr. Adams the vet she's now partnered to.
This is a lovely story of painful secrets and pasts filled with disappointments and mistakes. Finding each other Ethan and Tessa learn about forgiveness and second chances. This was a lovely wrap up for Ms. Harris' trilogy.
I really enjoyed this book that told the story of Ethan who was mentioned in the two previous books about his siblings. He works with the local vet to rescue horses. A few surprises and twists and turns were added that were fun to read about.
Tessa has found a place where she can be a vet to large animals even though she is a little bitty thing. Ethan is surprised when the new vet actually can touch his horse Ranger. She has a way with animals. Can the mistakes of the past keep them apart or will God bring them together?
What a great way to finish this series! I love the new characters that were expanded on and introduced in this story! Another happy ending that was engaging and interesting to read along the way.
