Title: Lucky
Series: Prequel to Twenty to Life
Author: J.M. Darhower
Release date: 1st September, 2015

If you are already a fan of J.M. Darhower, there is no sense in explaining how she dominates when it comes to Mafia Romance. From my early experiences with the Monster in His Eyes series to the most recent, I can honestly say that I’ve always found her writing enjoyable and her stories intriguing.

"In another life, maybe this could’ve meant something."

Lucky is the short but impactful prequel to her upcoming standalone Twenty to Life which centres on eighteen year old, Maddalena Bazzoli. Although she is the only child & heir of notorious mob boss Camillo Bazzoli she is far from a pampered princess. In fact she is being called upon and forced to take on her family duty. With that, comes a merger; a marriage rather. Hers. And so her last night of freedom, brings her final act of rebellion.

 photo 456D0083-9E1A-4919-A383-A927150B2FFF_zpsnziulqqv.gif

This is an arrangement; it's that simple. You'll do your part, and that's that. It means nothing."

Once again J.M. Darhower creates such a wonderful concoction of power, lust and family duty. Not only does she succeed in whetting my appetite with this juicy morsel, but she also has me stopping just short of salivating for more by its end.

"I'm getting married to a man I don't love."

"I'm not supposed to. It's not about love. Doesn't matter how I feel about it."

Ah, holy hell! That ended way too soon! I LOVED this short story. J.M. Darhower, whom I have labeled the "Queen of Mafia Books", is back again with prequel to a new romantic suspense 'Twenty to Life' that is sure to be a hit.

Maddalena Bazzoli is the only daughter of notorious mob boss Camillo Bazzoli, and has been "ordered" into an arranged marriage with a man she does not know, as part of a business deal between her father and another family.

"I'm a pawn. I'm a bargaining chip."

On her last night as a single woman, she wants one last night, one more chance to experience freedom before it is taken away. Armed with her fake ID, she is intent on living it up when "Lucky" sidles up next to her at the bar. Conversation flows, but not as quickly as the alcohol, and the two discover they are both in need of an escape.

Lucky takes "Diamond" back to his apartment where sparks fly and they lose themselves in each other. Using each other to forget. If even just for one night.

"In another life, maybe this could've meant something."

This prequel will whet your appetite, leaving you to CRAVE for more.

Can't even lie, I only read this for the short story JM Darhower wrote, Lucky, which I read is a prequel to her new book, Twenty to Life.

I am just going to say this. THAT WOMAN IS A GENIUS. This 30-40 page story was better than some 300+ page books I have read.

I am now officially dyingggggggggggggg for Twenty To Life. It will no doubt be incredible, amazing, epic. What a different original storyline. I am SOOOO damn intrigued!

**REVIEW FOR LUCKY BY J.M. DARHOWER**

"In another life, maybe this could've meant something."
ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF MAFIA ROMANCE!!!

Seriously. J.M. Darhower could do no wrong! I still need to catch up on her other books, but that's beside the point.

WARNING: Lucky is a prequel novella for her upcoming standalone Twenty to Life!! Twenty to Life will be a romantic suspense/thriller which I'm so excited to read!

Lucky focuses on Maddalena Bazzoli who is the only daughter of a notorious mobster. Come morning Maddalena will be forced into an arranged marriage to a man she's doesn't love or know. So what's a girl to do? Have one last night out. One last night of freedom and forgotten the cage her life will become.

"Forgetting. Yeah, it's goddamn beautiful."
With a fake ID and one goal for the night Maddalena ends up at a bar where she meets Lucky. Shots are poured and both of them in need of a night to forget. Part of the ending I saw coming, but there's another part of the ending that left me sitting here with my mouth open. All I know is I can't wait to get my hands on Twenty to Life!!!

Lucky by J.M. Darhower.

Lucky is a very short story that is sort of a prequel of the author’s upcoming romantic suspense novel, Twenty to Life. I wasn’t sure what to expect but when I saw Darhower’s name attached to it, I knew it would be gold. And I was right.

Honestly there’ nothing I can really say without basically reiterating the summary. It’s mega short but yet left me feeling anxious and excited for more. I’m dying to find out what’s going to happen with those two and especially learn more about her new husband.

To me, Darhower is the queen of mafia books and even though this was probably no more than 30-40 pages, it was still better than half the books out there that are 200+ pages. Yeah, I went there.

If you are a fan of mafia/romantic suspense, and if you’ve read books from this author before then I can promise you that you’ll fall in love with this short story. This is one not to be missed!

**While this entire collection has 18 short stories, my rating and review is based solely off of the story from Darhower. Also, thank you J.M. Darhower for the copy in exchange for an honest review!!! <3

*LUCKY by J.M. DARHOWER*

There's nothing by J.M. Darhower that I won't read. And I aboslutely loved this short story.

This story is a prequel to an upvoming new book called 'Twenty to Life' is now on my must-read list.

Maddalena is the only daughter of a mob boss, and she is about to enter into an arranged marriage. She decides to throw caution to the wind and spend her last night of freedom with a sexy, mysterious stranger she meets in a bar, far from her NYC neighborhood. "Lucky" is sexy, broody and the perfect candidate for a one-night stand with no strings attached. They don' even know each other's names.

There is a huge twist at the end and it is a credit to Ms. Darhower's writing that she packs more chemistry, intelligent dialogue and creative plot into this short story than most novels that I have read. Don't miss this!

The year of 1998. The movie Shakespeare in Love, was released and there was a scene where Dame Judi Dench won the Academy Award. It was a tiny roll but it left a huge impression and just from this short story, Lucky by J.M. Darhower, it leaves another one. This is the prequel to Twenty to Life, a new mafia themed storyline. If I was to say anything about this story, I would give everything away but I will say this; though it's somewhat predictable the last line will have you saying, WOAH.

A bag of mixed goodies. I expected all short stories, but most of these were excerpts.
It was fun to get to know new authors and there are several books I can't wait to get my hands on.

Blind Date by Emma Hart ~ 3 Stars
Short but sizzling. Simple story- well not so much a story line but just smut- mind you, it's very hot- so hot! I want more

One Night with Harrison by Heidi McLaughlin ~ 3.5 Stars
What?! OMG! This is soooo... Crazy? I can't believe the story line! Defo gonna have to read more

A Vegas Love by Jillian Dodd ~ 4 Stars
Smutilious and I want more! so going to read the entire book!!

Lucky by JM Darhower ~ 4 Stars
Thought totally predictable- i was riveted! Well written, entertaining, sizzling and left me wanting much more. Basically my biggest issue with this? It's to damn short!

One Taste by LP Dover ~ 2 Stars??
If I would base this simply on the plot... It would be 1.5stars But i like the writing style and I kinda liked Luke.... I didn't however think much of Lara She is the walking cliche heroine that I guess goes with that cliche plot... I was annoyed by how flakey she was-She was oh so determined not to go there... And then she faltered in 2sec flat

Before the Wreckage by Melissa Collins ~ 2.5 Stars
I am not sure what to rate this. It's well written, but the story - well the romance in particular is just not my thing. It's too predictably clinche and -well for lack of a better explanation- too romancy. So I guess round 2.5 Stars?

Hold It Against Me by Alivia Anders ~ 3 Stars
Never read anything by Anders before. This was entertaining, but I am not sure if I would read more...

Prelude by Anna Cruise ~ 3.5 Stars
This has Cruise written all over it. It's totally her MO and I really enjoyed it. Definitely will read Interlude when it's published!

Thou Shall Not Fall in Love by AO Peart ~ 4 Stars
In one word: smutilicious Basically not much of a plot or anything - but who cares? It's hawt and mega entertaining 4 guilty pleasure stars"

Quintessence by Cameo Renae ~ 2 Stars
Gotta say first up; it's well written The low rating is for the usual usual PNR thingy -in fact I kept thinking I read it before..

A Frigid Encounter by Jennifer Foor ~ 1.5 Stars
My biggest issue with this: I didn't like the writing style I found this terribly boring most of the time, even though I like the idea behind this The smut? So not my thing as well

One Night Wife by Kelly Walker ~ 2 Stars
Not bad but just not for me

Only Once by Julia Crane ~ 2 Stars
Ok so this might not be politically correct BUT while I am aware that this is suppose to be touching and all that , I couldn't find myself giving a toot. Too predicable too cliche - just not my thing

A Night Worth Dying For by Lizzy Ford ~ 3.5 Stars
Gritty, smutty and dark- really enjoyed this one!"

Finding Skye by Morgan Black ~ 3 Stars
Well told, but a tad too melodramatic for me. I might read the novel... Not quite sure yet

Shattering all the Rules by Savannah Rylan ~ 2 Stars
In one word? It's ok Not bad, but not amazing either. Basically rather usual usual. More or less only smut, not bad smut but not memorable either

Press Your Luck by SE Anderson ~ 3 Stars
m/m romances are just not my thing even if they are well written

Surprised by You by Steph Nuss ~ 2.5 Stars
I haven't read any of the Love I'm the city novels- so I found I couldn't connect to this one The character building was too cliche and didn't work for me. Don't think I will read the series.

For me, the ONE anthology is perfect for when you just fancy a quickie in between books. Last night I curled up with my Kindle app, and experianced three one-night stands, all without breaking a sweat (or taking my eyes off the screen!).

Blind Date by Emma Hart - It's no secret that I love books by Emma Hart, and this short and incredibly sexy story was no different! Dayuuuum! I think her character, Bee, said it best, "holy fucking ovary boom." I definitely want to explore more from Bee, Carter Hughes, and his tie. So. Damn. Sexy. 4.5 Stars

One Night with Harrison by Heidi McLaughlin - I absolutely LOVE Heidi McLaughlin's Beaumont series, and Harrison James has always been my favourite of her characters. This sexy short, I loved, all while feeling like I shouldn't, once I finally remembered who Alicia was!! But seriously, hotness overload, and Harrison--how could I not love it? 5 Stars

Lucky by JM Darhower - I'm ashamed to say that this was my first taste of JM Darhower's writing, but it most definitely won't be my last! Wow! Talk about addicting!! And that sneaky twist at the end... It left me desperate for more, which lucky for us (see what i did there?), we will get in future release, Twenty To Life. I can't wait!!! 5 Stars

Overall thoughts? This bundle of sexy, teasing stories is well worth the bargain pricetag of 99c. And the three stories i've read so far? They get an overall rating of 5 fantastic stars!!

One Night with Harrison by Heidi McLaughlin...poor, yummy Harrison!
Heidi brought us back to the time where we learn just how little Quinn was conceived. The mischief and deceit that lead Harrison to become a father by surprise.
This story was VERY well written and gives us a better look at Harrison, pre-Katelyn, pre-Quinn.
I've always been a huge fan of Harrison and I'm telling you that this short story is an amazing one that you must read!

Blind Date by Emma Hart...holy hotness!!
Everything you are looking for in a story! Lust, determination, sexy, fire..it's all there!! I know this was just a short story but holy hell, I need more!!
You are going to truly enjoy this one!

Vegas Love by Jillian Dodd...loved it!
Ashlyn and Cash...they are way too cute together!! I loved their short story. I need to read the rest of this book!!!!!!

My review is for One Night with Harrison by Heidi McLaughlin (will add more reviews as I finish)

I love the Beaumont Series, and especially Harrison. I love reading about his one night with the crazy Alicia. Alicia wanted one thing and one thing only Harrison the sexy drummer of 4225 West and she would do anything to have him. This series is a MUST READ. Fall for all the Beaumont Men

Thou Shall Not Fall In Love by A.O Peart

I really enjoyed this story. You meet Ali who has had it with her boyfriend. She goes to the mall but decides to go home only to find her car won't start. A hot stranger comes to her rescue and decides to have coffee the next day as a thank you. But there paths are not done crossing yet? I really enjoyed this story

So far I have only read LUCKY by J.M. Darhower. This author does organized crime like no one else. She always knows how to hook me.

Lucky is about a girl with a mobster father who has agreed to an arranged marriage for her in order to join two mafia families. She's not elated about this plan; so, tonight she's heading out for one last hurrah. Girl definitely sows some wild oats. Great prequel! And that ending left me very excited for the upcoming Twenty to Life.

I got this book the day of release, and it was for one story alone, One Night with Harrison by Heidi McLaughlin. I am a huge fan of Heidi's and I have a few anthologies that I have purchased for her book alone, but for me One Night with Harrison was a book I could not miss out on. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to get this review out, I even had to check as I was pretty sure I'd already written it.

One Night with Harrison gives us the history of Harrison and how he ended up with Alicia turning up at his doorstep with a baby in tow. When we first meet Alicia in this story, it's made quite clear what her intention is, and what she wants from Harrison., who has no idea what it about to happen.

This is my one chance to show Harrison James that I'm worth his time, even if my therapist disagrees.

Alicia is a crazy piece of work, she is obsessed with Harrison and the only thing she wants from him is a baby, and as we learn later on in the series even this does not last long. Seeing how her mind works and what makes her tick definitely makes for a creepy read, and I honestly wanted to just put a stop to it all and tell her to get herself together and act like a civilized human being.

My heart broke for Harrison, Seeing what he went through without any way of stopping in was heartbreaking, and I really do sympathize for anyone who has had to go through this traumatic experience.

Final Verdict
Heidi has done a great job of making you feel emotionally connected to this story, feeling hate and sorrow for the characters. One Night with Harrison is a great addition to the series and is a must read for any fans of The Beaumont Series.

***REVIEW OF LUCKY by J.M. DARHOWER***

Let me start off by saying that I knew nothing of Lucky prior to receiving the information about the One compilation and the ARC of Lucky from author J.M. Darhower. I never go into books blind because that’s just not my style, but this was simply a short story so I opened it up knowing nothing more than the theme was one-night stands.

So in this short story, Maddalena Bazzoli is a mob man’s daughter looking to get lucky for one night, her last night of freedom before entering an arranged marriage. She gets more than “lucky” and that’s all I’m going to say.

What I will say is that this is not my first time reading a J.M. Darhower story. In fact Monster in His Eyes is one of my favorite books. And in just these short pages I could already feel that same style and by the time I reached the end, I was ready to go back and read it again, just to pick up on all the things that suddenly had new meanings than they did the first time around.

“Tomorrow you might feel differently.”

I don’t think I’ve had a read like that since Monster so knowing that this is the prequel to an new upcoming stand-alone romantic suspense entitled Twenty to Life, well I can’t wait to read more! The groundwork is certainly there for another intriguing “hero” and a very complicated relationship.

“In another life, maybe this could’ve meant something.”

Happy Release Day to ONE! I had the opportunity to read the short story by J.M. Darhower titled LUCKY! I love Darhower books and the possibility of whats to come with a one night stand and devoured this book in one sitting. My rating is based on this one short story and not the book as a whole though with the number of amazing authors included in this anthology, I am sure it will be a hit!

Lucky is the prequel to a new series by Darhower and the reader is introduced to Maddalena Bazzoli who has one last night of freedom before family obligations has to set in, something that she is not happy about. Lena is the daughter of a mob boss and when she meets Lucky at the bar, they bond over drinks and a hot attraction that is undeniable. Their one night stand is delicious and memorable yet I have a feeling it won’t be the last that these two see of each other.

When all is said and done..will Lena be able to fulfill her family duty or did her luck change the day she met this mysterious stranger at the bar?

Well needless to say there is MORE to come and Darhower knows how to whet the readers appetite and leave us wanting more and I WANT MORE MORE MORE! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series to find out how this story will develop.

I absolutely love the short story by Angela Peart. I have read the series where this character is from and looking forward to more in her upcoming spin off series. I highly recommend you read her series Almost Bad Boys to get more insight into her characters.

I loved the story by Lizzy Ford. I have read each and every book that she has ever written and this story didn't disappoint me. This story was full of twists and turns. When you think you know who has done it BAM you find out you were totally wrong. I would love to see this story made into a serial in the future and expanded from.

I also loved the short story by Julia Crane. What would you do if you were in the same situation. I really felt sorry for this character and wished that she would have her happily ever after. But unfortunately that wasn't in her cards. I would love to read more into this story in the future.
I can't wait to read the other stories in this anthology. I would highly recommend getting this fantastic anthology in order to get a taste from New to you authors or if you have read any of them getting a glimpse into some of their beloved characters in their series.

I absolutely adored the Almost Bad Boys series and upon learning that a sneak peak to a spin off was in this anthology I just had to have it. You get a taste of one of the characters from the Almost Bad Boys series , Ali, as a turn of events may lead her to what she has been wanting...sort of *wink* She is a diva to the core, loves her voluptuous self and doesn't mind appreciating a well cut male physique every now and then. Ahh, I can't wait for more!!!!

I read Lucky by JM Darhower and it was an awesome story. It is a short but what the author does in a few words/pages is amazing. She has me hooked and I want to know more about Lucky and Maddalena and thankfully we will in a future novel. But back to this story. I sort of guessed what was about to happen but that was okay because it had me hooked and now I can't wait for more!!! I need it now!! I want to know will Maddalena fall in love and have a HEA or will she stay true to her dad and share the secrets you know she'll learn. I can't wait!!! For real!

Fantastic collection of short stories by fantastically talented authors. I can honestly say I enjoyed all but one of them and that was only because it's not my genre. Brilliant opportunity to try authors unknown to me. I'll be looking out for the books being released shortly to hopefully continue dome of this great stories.

So here it goes. I read Thou shall not fall in Love by Ao Peart.
This is quick and sexy. The short of it is a girl who has not had luck in love meets this sexy man and begins a friends with benefits relationship. I was left wanting more. It's sexier that Ao Pearts other reads. Make sure to grab it.
