PBI Case Files #5

Remote Paranoia

Rate this book
In this episode of the PBI Case Files, the team is called in to investigate a string of suspicious deaths. It seems a team of retired Order agents are being picked off one by one. The Order is a team of alien and supernatural being that are called in by the Fates to keep people on the right path. It is a great honor to be called in to serve on this team. What the Paranormal Bureau agents discover will keep them up at night! No one is safe while these rogue killers are on the loose, especially not while they're sleeping.

This is the fifth episode of PBI Case Files. It is not necessary to read the previous episodes to follow the story as there are back story devices used in the body of this book but it can really enhance your understanding of the characters and larger plot that carries through the first season of this series.

This book, as well as the rest of the episodes in the PBI Case Files is written like a weekly television show. It is a paranormal mystery serial.

Previously on PBI Case Files:

After a drunken night of mishaps and nightmarish discoveries, two sisters, Francesca (Frankie) and Sarah Hollister are recruited into the Paranormal Bureau of Investigations which is run by the Demi-Goddess Karma. They get partnered with a brooding vampire, Devon who Sarah finds utterly attractive, and an un-socialized alpha were-bear, Fang (aka Levi) who Frankie finds to be a Neanderthal brute. PBI Case Files ~ The Beginning is available on Amazon.

Case File #2, Outbreak; The team investigates a possible bath salt incident in Florida that turns out to be a mutated strain of Ebola that forces the carriers to crave human flesh in order to survive. Because of Fang’s and Frankie’s heated relationship, he lets his guard down, and she becomes infected. As she lay on her death bed, he makes the decision to bind his life force with hers to save her. The problem with that is…now, she is his mate!

Case File #3, Lost Plane; The team was called in to investigate a plane that vanished over the Pacific Ocean. They’re partnered with the Alien Bureau of Investigation (ABI), and thanks to a banshee’s help they discover time travel, cyborgs, and that the fate of the human race in the future is in jeopardy.

Case File #4, Justice Driven; Sarah and Devon have their first date which is interrupted when they are kidnapped by the Amazons. The PBI team partners with the retired horsemen of the apocalypse to save their friends. It’s a well-prepared attack, and it turns out, the act of vengeance was sanctioned by the Gods. The vampires are infected with a drug that neuters their ability to harm other living things.

The Vanished Series is a spin off from PBI Case Files, specifically episode 3, Lost Plane. Death Interrupted and The Mating Challenge is based in a dystopian future. A future where things that happen in this time are reflective of what is to come. As the team sees glimpses of their future the hope is what they do now in PBI Case Files will change what happens in Vanished Series.

For now, the Vanished Series centers around the passengers and crew of Avalon Flight 370 which disappeared over the Pacific Ocean.

The PBI is at it again against evil forces trying to eliminate supernatural beings. Fast paced read. PBI Case Files #5 is full of action, suspense and an easy to follow story line. This series is AWESOME and would make a great TV show! I would absolutely recommend reading them all! After defeating Craig, an evil psychic and telepath, the team gets a call from Sarah, who is still MIA, alerting them to a plot to release an airborne drug that will kill thousands! And that sets you up for the next book :) Excellent author. I enjoy her other books as well. 5 stars!

This is the first time I have read one of Jami Brumfield's PBI books. OMG! What a fantastic paranormal romance mystery book. It just grabs you at the beginning and holds on to the end. It has a strong group of character and the plot is great. I now have to go back and read the rest of the series. You get insight into the romance of the characters. This is book 5 in the series, but it can be read as a standalone without much trouble. I have given this book a 5 star rating.

"Hot things that go bump in the night"
This book is interesting and exciting!. The characters are unique and amazing.
Libby a white witch is finally released from her commitment to the Order. The Order is a team of Alien and supernaturals beings that are called in by the Fates to keep people on the right path. Libby comes home to spend time with her family only to discover her Mother has terminal cancer. At first she freaks out but then her old friend logic sets in, and she starts to compartmentalize things so she can help her Mother. Only Libby never gets a chance as she is killed. Then Jerrell a Alpha team mate of Libby's is killed to it seems someone is killing off retired team mates of the Order.
The Goddess Karma is the head of PBI (Paranormal Bureau of Investigation)
This case is brought to her attention. So she calls a meeting with the best members of her agents. Frankie (who almost died when a child zombie bite her. Her partner Fangs a Werebear bonded with her saving her life but ended up mated to her for life which she is not happy about!.) Fangs the Werebear Frankie's Partner. Devon(who is in love with Frankie's missing sister Sarah). Tucker and Jasmine.
Karma tells them about the new case only Frankie is not happy about it as Karma had told her finding Sarah was their top priority. Karma tells her yes it is but they must find out who or what is killing off the members of the order. Wow this book is amazing with its suspense, action and steamy hot Romance!. It is a must read book!.

I loved this Case file from the PBI, I was quickly drawn within the story, trasnfixed to the pages while Devon, Frankie & Fang work to solve the case. Sarah is off with the Amazon's, I'm not really sure what she's doing, hopefully Jami can put some light to her side of things soon. What a case this file is, leaving you guessing, full of twists & turns...

'Remote Paranoia' is "PBI Case File" number 5 in the series, it can be read by itself or you can read the series in order... I would recommend reading it in order. I CAN NOT wait to read what case comes next for the PBI.

This may contain spoilers!! I read this as part of the Wicked after Dark anthology and did not read anything else in the series.

That being said based on Frankie's attitude I don't think I will ever pick one up...

"It was true he took most of the risk" Talking about the time she was literally about to die so Fang bonded with her to save her life...
"If he had asked..", "the way he took fate into his own hands and forced this life on her"

He should have let the bitch die...sheesh
