This was a sweet little love story about two people whose dogs annoyed each other finding love, despite obstacles such as their nosy neighbors. I enjoyed it!
Cute, quick story. There were things that bugged me... the neighbors... small town drama that wasn't too believable... and then it ended at 77%. Kinda glad I got it for free.
I enjoyed this story, the characters and the slow build up of the relationship. The secondary characters were great, especially the dogs. The end was abrupt. I would have appreciated a bit more.
This is a great story. It is a romantic comedy, Love Gone to the Dogs. This is the first book of the Second Chances Series. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will enjoy every word of it. This story is well written, humorous, and heart warming. You are going to love it. Author Leah Taylor has moved her family to a small town after being run out of several towns. Her husband ran off and left her and her boys and she is forced to write children books to support them. Her eldest takes after her and is normal but her youngest is a genius and doesn't fit in. Her youngest has skipped several grades and is his older brother's class causing many problems for the oldest. She also cares for her grandfather. He is also a genius and is always experimenting in his lab in the garage. Some of his experiments end up in explosions or fire that scares the neighbors. She also has to deal with a dog that runs a muck. She isn't even unpacked when she's answering her door to a furious neighbor. The good looking doctor is furious with her dog but it can't be Arnold, he is in the backyard fenced in. Doctor Shane O'Grady is a widower. He watched his wife die and he will never let himself love another that way. He is furious that the new neighbor's dog tore up his newspaper three days in a row. He comes over to tell his neighbor off only to find a beautiful little woman. How can he be attracted to this woman and her chaos? Her dog manages to escape the yard and goes to his back yard and has his way with his pure bred Princess and leads her astray. Shane is also the Mayor of the town and his other neighbor is trying to run Leah out of town. A journey of chaos and confusion. God has a plan for this family and the doctor and his mother. God has a plan; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Trust Him with your heart and watch Him move in your life.
Who would have thought two dogs could bring together two people who were in need of romance and a fresh start? That's what you get with this story about a woman who moves her family to a new town in hopes of being able to finally settle down and a doctor/mayor who doesn't realize it's time to leave his past in the past.
The chemistry between Leah and Shane reveals itself almost immediately with their first meeting. Agreeing to have a casual relationship with no commitment between, the two finally begin to realize that maybe that's not a good idea. It doesn't help that there's always something or someone who manages to interrupt them before they can move beyond heavy petting.
In the midst of trying to get to know one another, her family has to contend with their nosey neighbor, Ned, who spends his days being part of the neighborhood watch--particularly watching the trouble that Leah's family seems to be causing the town. That trouble amounts to the fact that Gramps is an "inventor" and something always seems to happen with his experiments. And then there's Leah's youngest son who happens to be a genius in his own rite. There's never a dull moment with the family and Ned tries everything he can to make the family look worse than they really are right down to passing a petition around town to have them move.
All in all the story makes you giggle at times. Sometimes you'll just say oh no what now. Other times you just want to tell Ned to sit down and shut up and to mind his own business.
This is my first and last book by Margaret Daley. I could not even finish the book. This type of writing is NOT what I expect to find in Inspirational Fiction.
Margaret Daley is a fantastic author. She puts so much passion and heart into her books. They are warm and inviting with conflicts and heat included.
Love Gone To The Dogs is a remarkable story about an unconventional family that is just looking for a warm, loving community to accept them as they are. They hope they have found just that when they move to Shady Oaks. However, within a matter of days of their arrival, disaster has already begun to have found them. Arnold, the beagle, not only destroyed the mayor's newspaper 3 mornings in a row but also began a clandestine affair with his prize show dog. Not a great way to announce yourselves to your new neighbors. Ned, the nosy, next door neighbor has it in for them practically from the get go and decides he is going to drive them out of town. This isn't the first time that has happened to the family but this time it seems to hurt more because Shady Oaks actually felt like home. Will they have to move yet again or can some special people convince them to stay?
At least five stars. The author effectively uses humor to tell this delightful tale of a single mother and her quirky family. One chaotic episode leads into the next one. It is one catastrophe after another. A genius six-year-old son, an eccentric grandfather that does experiments and more often than not dangerous ones. The ten-year-old is normal, thank goodness. Her dog is in love with the doctor's dog and also likes to shred his newspaper. The doctor is not happy! I absolutely loved this book. I laughed a lot as I read. I certainly recommend this book.
This was a cute story with some interesting characters, and it was a fun read. Leah has her hands full with her eccentric grandfather and two young sons depending on her. Leah's dog won't stay home but insists on visiting Dr. Shane O'Grady's female Princess which Shane had planned to mate with a dog of the same breed. I have read other books by Margaret Daley which have all been filled with suspense and danger. I was pleased to find that she can also produce lighter, sometimes funny, stories.
Leah brought her family to a new town and just wanted a chance for a new home.
Leah brought her extended family to her new home hoping this time they could find a place that would except them. After all a widow with two boys and their grandfather can’t be too bad can it. Even if one boy is a genius and the grandfather an forgetful inventor, and their beagle is an escape artist. That leaves her and her other son as normal neighbors. Can’t be to bad can it? Please God help them settle this time!
This was a cute love story, but the extremes that the one neighbor went to were pretty crazy. There were also a lot of spelling and punctuation errors, something that drives me crazy. All in all, it was a cute story and a quick read though. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor that was placed here and there. I was looking for something light and easy to read while lounging on a cruise and this was perfect for that.
Such a sweet romantic book with a touch of comedy, the characters had instant chemistry but both were not looking for a relationship but it was hard to stay away from each other since their dogs had a Romeo and Juliet thing going on with their owners trying to keep them away and the dogs wanting to be together.
Margaret Daley provides unusual plot elements to this enemy to lover romance. Purebred dogs, an obnoxious neighbor and two precocious family members add a lot of color. With a novella length things happen quickly in a fun cast paced read.
This book was cute but pretty predictable. It has some moments between the characters that are really good but my favorite character was Arnold the Beagle. He provides some great entertainment.
You people should just read this book yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourself and I really enjoyed reading this book very much so. Shelley MA
I enjoyed this story. The romance was fun to read. I liked how they met because of dog problems, how they dealt with them etc. I especially loved the happy ending!
