Peculiar Mysteries #1

You've Got Tail

Rate this book
You’ve Got Tail by USA Today bestselling author Renee George is a laugh-out-loud cozy mystery. Kidnapping, murder, and a town full of people hiding the truth will keep Sunny Haddock busy as she tries to unravel the strange happenings in Peculiar, Missouri. Fall in love with a hilarious cast of characters in Book 1 of Peculiar Mysteries; a paranormal romantic comedy that will not only have you laughing… it will also melt your heart.

Welcome to Peculiar, Missouri!

Sunny Haddock, an animal-loving vegetarian psychic, is stoked to leave California behind to start a new life in the Ozark town of Peculiar with her best friend Chavvah Trimmel. She ups the moving date when Chav goes missing, and Sunny high tails it to the small town. What Sunny doesn’t realize is that she’s moving into a community of were-shifters, and they don’t want a human resident. Especially one dumb enough to arrive a couple of days before the full moon — the only night of the month shifters have to take their pure animal forms.

When the gorgeous Babel Trimmel, Chav's younger brother, (along with the sheriff, the mayor, and some other nice folk) suggests Sunny haul her U-haul and butt back out of town, she’s undeterred. Her psychic abilities might be out-of-whack, and blood makes her faint, but she’s not a quitter. Besides, she's not about to go anywhere until she finds out what happened to Chavvah.

But Sunny has more to deal with than unfriendly townsfolk... like disturbing killer visions and the dog-like animal no one else sees that seems to be stalking her every move. To make matters worse, she is finding Babel to be more irresistible than crack on a donut.

Sunny needs to get her ability and her hormones under control if she wants to solve the mystery and save her best friend.

When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)

I was looking for a fun paranormal cozy mystery to dive into, but You've Got Tail ended up being a disappointment. The story had potential, but things went down hill fast. I’m not sure why I kept reading.

I did like Sunny’s psychic ability, but she lacked any understanding or training with it. I found the characters names funny, but then that got old fast. The last thing I enjoyed was Sunny’s introduction to the town where she meets Babel for the first time. It put a smile on my face.

Sunny comes to Peculiar to find her missing friend. She keeps saying she’s going to find her friend, yet she doesn’t do a thing. She has these psychic visions all over town, but doesn’t understand what it means. I would have liked her, but she didn’t do anything special. I was annoyed by all the rambling, which goes on and on, that she does in her head. And, she wasn’t good at detecting. All she does is run around clueless sticking her nose in things and getting into trouble.

The romance; between Sunny and Babel was nonexistent. Their was no development at all and I wouldn’t call it a romance. It was confusing; is what it was. These two are either having sex or they aren’t. Their was no building of any type of relationship.

The writing was fine, but the plot left a lot to be desired. It was obvious very early on who the villain(s) are, at least for one of them. Their was very little focus on the actually bad guys. We literally never even meet some of them.

Anyway, You’ve Got Tail was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

You’ve Got Tail by Renee George

Hilarious, sarcastic, and offbeat narrative make this paranormal mystery romance super fun.

The only part I didn’t like was the wishy washy on off thoughts and actions she put Babel and herself through about being together. Okay, she’d been hurt in the past. Make a decision already and stick to it!
In the end, the mystery is solved, love wins out, and the series begins.

Excerpt
“Stay out of it. I can handle myself.”
His lips relaxed into a half smile, turning me back into slush. “Of course you can.”
My knees buckled for a second. Crap. Why did he have to be so sexy? “Babel,” I said firmly, trying to sound in more control than I felt. “Is there a purpose to tonight’s visit? Other than the initial scaring the bejeezus out of me?”
“Sheriff called. Said you were nervous about a barn owl. He thought I could come over and reassure you.”
The way he said “reassure” made it sound like a naughty, naughty word. I’m almost positive when the sheriff had said it, he hadn’t made it sound that way at all. “Consider me reassured. Anything else?”
“Do you want me to stay?”
Yes. “No.”
“I could sleep on the couch. It might make you feel safer, what with all the dogs and owls creeping around you.”
Okay. “No.”
“You sure?”
No. “Yes.” I was a woman of many contradictions. My brain had apparently joined forces with my libido, but at least my mouth hadn’t betrayed me.
He shrugged. “Suit yourself.”
“You can take the couch.” Traitorous mouth! “Just for tonight, though. And don’t be getting any ideas,” I added. After all, I was in control. Right?”

Hoping for a quieter, simpler life, Sunny ups stakes and moves from California to the small town of Peculiar, Missouri. She has sunk all her money into buying a vegan restaurant with her best friend Chavvah. Unfortunately Chavvah has disappeared and every single person in the town is making it abundantly clear that she's not welcome and should go back to where she came from.

But Sunny is made of sterner stuff and she refuses to leave until she finds her friend. Then in rapid succession she is attacked by a coyote, learns the town secret and through her psychic abilities (did I mention she's a psychic?) discovers someone is killing the residents. It's up to her to solve the mystery and save the day.

So much fun. It really is laugh-out-loud funny.

I’ve been going through a slew of shifter stories lately and this one was just meh. It wasn’t very funny and it didn’t really hold my attention.

Loved it!

There's so much animosity when Sunny Haddock sets foot at Peculiar, Missouri. She's on a mission to find her friend, Chavvah Trimmel, who's been missing for weeks. Seeing Chavvah's younger brother lying on the floor with no clothes on isn't exactly the welcome Sunny has been hoping for. Sure Babel Trimmel is hot and gorgeous, but he's much younger than her. Plus she can't date her bestfriend's brother, because that would be violating #girlscode...

Inasmuch as Babel wants Sunny for himself, he isn't the type to stay in Peculiar for a long time. He's there to find her sister and nothing else... But he needs to find his missing older brother, too. Could their disappearance be related? And why are all the townspeople hellbent on luring Sunny Haddock away? What does the town of Peculiar be hiding.

Sunny had admitted herself that she's no detective nor does she have sleuthing skills. But she's doing her best to find her friend and stay alive amidst all the threats and attacks she had endured during her stay in Peculiar. Sunny is the endgame and she's much more than a friend. Did I mention that she's also a psychic?

I needed something to cheer me up this week and Renee George made that possible. Loved Sunny Haddock and Babel Trimmel, they proved that age doesn't matter in love, nor tails and paws. Shifter stories had always been one of my favorites and this book didn't disappoint.

Corny but cute. All in all, I'll call this a middle of the road read. I liked the characters but I I didn't really feel the romance develop at all. Honestly, the writing was fine, but the plot left a lot to be desired.

The villain(s) are obvious very early on, one of them because it's always this person in such books. I mean ALWAYS. Is there a crazy ex-girlfriend who is hostile for no apparent reason other than she's not the heroine or in the heroine's circle? Well, there you go. That's you villain. ALWAYS. And as a woman that always makes me irritable. (I don't need the constant 'other women can't be trusted' lessons, thank you very much.) What's more, very little of the book actually focused on the bad guys. So, I never really felt the tension. You literally never even meet some of them.

Anyhow, it was an ok fluff read. I didn't dislike it but wasn't floored by it either.

As a side note: Publisher, if you are going to draw your covers, could you please at least have your designers/artists read the description of the characters? I understand when using stock phots you can't always find an appropriate match. But you drew Sunny and she's clearly described in the book (several times) as having brown hair.

Romantic paranormal mystery with laughs a plenty

You know I have always admired an author that can weave a mystery and suspense into a good romance. It seems to me it would be enough to just capture all the day to day and build a romantic relationship between two people let alone deal with life and death issues, plant clues and solve mysteries. I mean come on think about the planning and the energy that goes into such an endeavor and then we expect the author to be good at writing dialog, humor and sex let alone bring life to the world of the paranormal. Let’s not forget our expectation for a well edited manuscript. Yep, that’s a hell of a lot of talent there and Ms. George has it in spades. You’ve got Tail totally rocked.

Sunny Haddock is a total rock star, well not literally. Heck I have no clue if she has a musical bone in her body. What she does have is a wonky psychic flare that hasn’t always proven reliable or helpful in her life. Sunny is also tenacious as all get out. When everyone in town tries to steer her right back onto the road out of town, she puts down roots and doesn’t budge an inch no matter how dangerous or bizarre things get. Sunny is bound and determined, she is going to find out what happened to her best friend, Chav. Adding insult to injury Sunny can’t help falling for her best friend’s younger brother, Babel. Talk about inappropriate and totally against the girl friend code. Too bad her heart and her hormones aren’t listening.

Babel Trimmel has been searching for his missing brother, Judah for two years. That is until he finally gave up and left the task to his sister, Chav. Now he’s kicking himself in the butt because Chav has disappeared too. When Chav’s best friend shows up he’s in a quandary. Does he follow his instincts to do everything in his power to claim the woman? Or, does he shoo her out of town as quick as he can to protect her from discovering the secrets of the town? Well as much as he’d like to think he has the choice he’ll soon figure out the choice isn’t all his. Not when one stubborn woman won’t leave and she’s not exactly falling willingly into his arms either. This boy’s got his work cut out for him convincing her they’re meant to be and keeping her safe while they try to solve the mystery surrounding his brother and sister’s disappearance.

While there are enough jealous vibes springing off both of them to alert anyone that someone is definitely protesting too much, the heat is positively scorching. The clues start to stack up thanks to the help of a ghostly coyote and the visions of Sunny. As the clues mount up so too does the danger. You’ve Got Tail was a great read and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of mystery and suspense with their paranormal. Of course, a good laugh or two never hurts as well.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Got this as a freebie on Amazon. First in the series. I struggled with the rating. I almost didn't continue after the 2nd chapter. I felt the author was trying too hard with the humor. Now I like humor in my paranormals, but chapter one was outrageous! I kept skimming the boring chapters.
There were a lot of them. It's a shame, because I thought the author had an original idea with the plot. The dialogue wasn't cluncky, just too much dumb humor. I hated the male lead's name - Babel (Babe). I hated that Sunny - the female lead is psychic & her first vision with the male lead is him balls deep in the villainess of the story. Wow. Just not into this - not continuing with the series.

Here's one of those dilemmas to rate things. Technically the writing isn't bad but honestly it fails as both a mystery with heavy romance subplots or a romance with a mystery subplot. I'm not even sure it succeeds as urban fantasy since it's such a mishmash of everything but it bills itself as a mystery and it fails as one. It also claims to be a comedy but that's a matter of taste. It's more silly/stupid than funny.

Sunny has moved to Peculiar Missouri to be half owners of a diner with her BFF Chavvah Trimmel. Only Chavvie has disappeared as Sunny arrives and she finds a gorgeous naked man in her soon to be diner sleeping on the floor. He grabs her and instead of being freaked out, she's all Oooo he's hot. (because that's a natural reactions). Turns out he's Chavvie's baby brother, Babel in town to find out where his sister has gone not to mention a few years before their brother Judah also disappeared.

Well Sunny is also psychic and is now seeing a ghost coyote following her around (takes her awhile to figure that out). She's also super unwanted in this town and almost everyone b ut Babel and Ruth try to drive her out. It's obvious why. I mean the author tries to build suspense but how can you when you named it You Got Tail and say in the blurb they're a town of shifters?

We get a lot of Oooo I can't possibly sleep with my BFF's baby brother for about five chapters which are literally almost nothing else but about how hot Babel is and how she can't sleep with him and how everyone wants her gone. By chapter six (about 24 hours) she's slept with him. Within another few days he's hopelessly in love with her and they're both jealous nitwits so I honestly don't care. So it really fails as a romance too. There's no building toward a relationship.

It fails as a mystery as well because Sunny spends FAR more time worrying about if she should sleep with Babel, what happens now that she's slept with Babel, how many girlfriends might he have and ooo isn't the town healer/shaman hot too than she EVER does about Chavvie being missing. It's not really to well past the halfway mark that anyone even bothers to look for Chavvie or Judah and no one even takes her seriously about what's happening.

She gets beaten so many times it's not funny. She's beaten one day, gets into a car wreck the next and still has the energy to have hot monkey sex with Babel. This was a loss leader freebie intro to the series. It convinced me I don't need to read more.

DELICIOUSLY CUTE, FABULOUSLY FUNNY AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: You've Got Tail
Series: Peculiar Mysteries
Designation: Book One, Standalone Novel, NO Cliffhanger
Author: Renee George
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Comedy/Mystery
My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
YOWZA!!! Renee George hit the ground running with You've Got Tail, the first fabulous, fun-filled novel in her spectacular new series, Peculiar Mysteries. Yes siree! This isn't my first rodeo with Renee George so I know to expect the unexpected but I must say, she even surprised me with this one. George exploded out of the starting gate, put the pedal to the metal and screamed down the straightaway all the way to the finish line. I was completely out of breath by the time I reached the end. I laughed, giggled, chuckled, snorted, sniffled, snickered, snuffled, sniffed, sobbed, sniveled, howled, hiccuped and whimpered through the entire book without even the first hint of boredom, apathy, impassivity or dissatisfaction. By the end of the book, I was bawling like a six year old who had just dropped my ice cream cone. Yep, it was that good! And who in the world said paranormal romance couldn't be funny and mysterious? Well, whoever it was didn't send Renee George the memo because You've Got Tale is not only romantic, sweet, sexy and passionate, it's also hilarious and a magnificent whodunit! Move over Melinda Gordon, there's a new ghost whisperer in town and her name is Sunny Haddock! The story is exciting, original, well crafted, humorous, suspenseful, romantic and sweeter than honey. And did I say hot? Oh yeah! It has lots of action, in and out of the sheets! Hubba! Hubba! The narrative is exceptionally well written in the first person with the story being told by none other than the fabulously funny protagonist, Sunny Haddock. The dialogue is smart, sassy, snarky, snappy, witty, hilarious, well executed and flows effortlessly. Personally, I think Sunny would also make a phenomenal stand-up comedian, if she could take time off from giving psychic readings to all her new friends in Peculiar. And speaking of friends, the characters in this lively tale are simply magnificent! They are fascinating, captivating, engaging, endearing and laugh-out-loud funny. By the end of the book, I felt as if I personally knew every single character and Sunny, well, she was glorious; she literally sparkled. Heck, I even fell in love with the ghosts! I may have had the slightest girl crush on Judah. Okay, it was more than a little girl crush but in my defense, he was completely adorable. George skillfully combines these elements into a divinely entertaining paranormal tale filled to the brim with danger, drama, suspense, mystery, murder, kidnapping, comedy and romance. Oh, and did I mention sex? Yep, it has a little of that too. What didn't I like about this book? Not a darn thing!
With a name like Ambrosia Sunshine Haddock, Sunny never had a chance at a normal life. No siree! So, it didn't come as much of a surprise when Sunny realized she was a psychic, more or less. Well, mostly less, that is until she arrived in Peculiar, Missouri searching for her former roommate, best friend and future business partner, Chevvah "Chav" Trimmel. Chav had left the shores of sunny California and made the trip to Peculiar two years prior when her younger brother, Judah disappeared. Chav had fallen in love with Peculiar and its town folk. In fact, she invited Sunny to join her in opening a vegetarian restaurant in the small town. Chav had even named it Sunny's Outlook. How sweet! Two weeks prior to her scheduled moving date, Sunny receives a mysterious text from her bestie Chav simply stating "Sunny. I need u." Oh my! And now, Chav has disappeared too! Oh no! Yep, gone without a single trace. Well, get ready Peculiar, 'cause here comes animal-loving, strictly vegetarian, squeamish-at-the-sight-of-blood, not-so-sunny, Sunny Haddock and she's loaded for bear! And squirrel and coyote and werewolf and raccoon and deer and anything else that gets in her way. She's hell-bent on finding her friend and she will not rest until she does. She has no time for distractions from Chev's hot, handsome younger brother, Babel "Babe" Trimmel, who seems determined to either wrestle her into bed or run her out of town! Huh? Whatever! Babe may be more irresistible than crack on a cupcake but she refuses to buckle under pressure! Except, in bed of course. Oh, and all the other wonderful town folk want her gone too! What the heck? Well, she may faint at the sight of blood, especially her own, but never let it be said that Sunny Haddock is meek of heart or short on courage. She's staying! And they can't make her go! Can they ?!? Can Sunny solve the missing persons mystery and will she be able to find Chav before it's too late? I'll never tell! No spoilers from me but I will say this...Beautiful, sassy human psychic-check! Handsome, determined werecoyote-check! Large cast of unforgettable characters including the ghosts-check! An adorable ghost coyote-check! Danger, drama, murder, suspense, puzzling disappearances, heinous villains and a mystery only Sunny can solve-check! Fun, laughter and quite a few giggles-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion and a blazing hot romance between an older psychic and a younger man/coyote-you bet! That and a whole lot more! Deliciously cute, fabulously funny, seriously sexy, completely captivating and divinely entertaining!!! Hands down, one of the best books I've read this year! This is a standalone novel with NO cliffhanger with a wonderfully written happy for now ending and by that I mean, George leaves the door wide open for future adventures for psychic, not-so-sunny Sunny with her younger man at her side and in her bed!

There are some other odd things going on in Peculiar, and Sunny, with the help of an irresistible man, is determined to figure out what is going on. Apparently, someone doesn’t want her to, and she has to figure out if there is anyone she can trust in this strange town. You've Got Tail by Renee George is the first book in the Peculiar Mysteries series. Psychic Sunny Haddock moves to Peculiar when her friend, with whom she was to open a restaurant , goes missing, only to find the town is inhabited by shape shifting were-animals. Not really the book for me. Sunny comes across as silly and immature and rather annoying. There wasn't much of a mystery and not much detection. The only decent character seemed to be the werewolf doctor. Rather disappointing overall.

A fun book; Sunny moves to Peculiar, Missouri to help her best friend, Chavvah, run a vegan restaurant. However, when she arrives, Chavvah is missing, & most everyone in the town wants her gone. Including Chavvah's very sexy younger brother, who is very attracted to Sunny. But the town has a secret. And for Sunny's safety, it is best she not be around during the next full moon.

A roller-coaster of emotions, interesting characters and a horrible murder. I couldn't stop reading this book. There is humour, romance, action and drama. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the horror of the murder, but it is part of what provided the drama and emotion to the story. I will be reading more from this series and from this author. Fantastic!

OMG!! One of the best paranormal mysteries I have read in a long time.

Sunny moves to Peculiar, Missouri....and the name suits the town perfectly! Not only does Sunny walk in on a full blown murder mystery but she also walks, unknowingly, into love, no matter how hard she fights it. Highly suggest this book if you are into paranormal romance, mystery and a little sass!!!

Sunny Haddock was a psych with some other streaks but she could not control her visions and most of the time she felt clueless, confused and with headaches. She didn’t think that the visions were a gift, oh no, she thought they were a curse. After all, they didn’t help her with her cheating boyfriend. But when she received a text message from her best friend and business partner Chavvah Trimmel, asking for her help it was enough for Sunny to pack and go to Peculiar, Missouri. She had not saw Chav for almost two years when Chav went to Peculiar looking for her missed older brother Judah and now she too was missing. Nobody in the town knew about her whereabouts. She met Chav’s, gorgeous brother, Babel Trimmel, who was very secretive and suspicious and she immediately liked what she was seeing. She tried to make friends in the town but everybody wanted her to leave the town as if she were bad news. Sunny was sure something was wrong in the town. When she made clear that she was not going to leave the town she was attacked. Also, she was seeing and hearing things. She was scare but determined to find Chav. Babe had become her protector and lover but the town was hiding too many secrets and they were big, scary and dangerous. Too many involved in the drama. Soon, her life was on the stake and the truth was terrific. Could Sunny survive the search for Chav? This story had intrigue, suspense, violence, mystery, good and bad emotions and of course, hot sex. Some scenes had t much feeling and my eyes were moist because of the sadness they caused. Sunny’s character was tenacious in her struggle against the obstacles the town people put in her way and funny with her spontaneous comments and lust after the gorgeous males in the town. The relation Sunny/Babe was funny with Sunny constantly arguing with herself. The author made an interesting character with her. Liked how the different situations of the characters were entwined adding to the suspense. The development of the plot was intriguing because almost everyone was suspicious and it was not until the last chapters that the truth was revealed. Kept my attention until the end and liked the outcome.

You’re mine, Sunshine Haddock. 5 FURRY STARS

I'm yours, I’m completely yours. HOLY WERETASTIC BATMAN! What a FANGERRIFIC annd WOLFGASMIC story! It is so incredibly humorous, so smoking hot, so light-hearted, so mysterious and so much more, all unified PAWFECTLY together into one helluva FANGTABULOUS storyline that is both rich & deep!! I love all of Sunny's phrases, thoughts and snarky one liners! Renee did a WOLFDERFUL job of blending all of the quirky with the serious, the hot, the happy, the sad, and so much more! I found myself fully immersed in the story right from the very beginning, hell even from that delicious cover! The ingenuity of the storyline, the characters, the creatures, the abilities, the town, etc. is all…well…GENUIS! Being able to relate & connect with the characters, laughing, crying as well as feeling for & with them, not only adds to the story, it also is proof of just how talented Renee is. I have read a fair number of Renee's books and have immensely enjoyed every single one of them! However, none of them have been as PAWESOME as You've Got Tail! The way her stories all pull me in from the very start proves that she has a true gift. The wide range of subject matter and genres of her stories just add even further proof of just how phenomenally talented she is. But this book, this one combines all of those traits/qualities and adds so much more! The fact that it is a full length novel allows or gives more weight to the storyline, there is more depth and this tremendous richness that had me pulled in so quick & deep into the story that I felt like I was there with Sunny, sometimes even as if I WAS Sunny!! Although that might have been all naughty wishful thinking when it involved Babe. wink Nah! It is all due to Renee’s wondrous ability to weave a story so magical, so beautiful, so hilarious, so romantic, so steamy that you cannot help but be transported into the story to live it with the characters! UPDATE OCTOBER 2016: I JUST LISTENED TO THE AUDIO VERSION OF THIS BOOK. WHAT A KICK! THE NARRATOR IS PERFECT FOR THE FIRST PERSON STORY, SUNNY, WHO IS FEISTY, SNARKY, BUT MOST OF ALL HUMAN IN A WORLD OF STRONGER THAN SHE IS PARANORMALS. WE SEE AND HEAR HER WEAKNESS, YET THE STRENGTH OF THIS WOMAN. IT WAS A GREAT TIME FOR ME TO "RE-READ" THE GREAT STORY. I MORE THAN RECOMMEND THIS AUDIO/BOOK TO ANY WHO HAVE NOT READ AND FOR THOSE WHO HAVE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET YOURSELF A BEDTIME STORY--OF COURSE, YOU MIGHT NOT GET ANY SLEEP.....
Original Book review:What great mystery--a fun read with some really serious situations. I am not (usually) a fan of first person narrative. Ms George has educated me. Now I know I am a fan of witty, funny and sharp first person repartee. Yes, Sunny talks to herself—a lot. And it is often hysterical.
Sunny travels to Patience to find her friend, Chavvah, who has gone missing, just like the older brother she came to town to find. Sunny is also an on again off again psychic. Little does she know what she is about to find. A town of shifters, all kinds, who don't want her to find their secret and want her gone, a sexy little brother to her friend who is anything but little and wants Sunny. No, no—friends brother and much younger man—not good.

But the secrets that plague the town are killing people and the longer she stays, the more people she meets, the more her abilities give clues to the crimes. So much so that Sunny is repeatedly attached and a ghost of the missing attaches to her—and not in human form.

There is not one dull minute in this read, there are laughs and emotions, characters you love, hate, who repel, and lets not forget a crazy female or two. This is one you should not miss. If you do YOU'LL BE SORRY....

HORRIFIC DANGER LURKS AMONG THE UNSPECTING CITIZENS OF PECULIAR!

Incredible exhilarating well written read. Renee has pushed the boundaries of imagination to create an entertaining story that astounds you from beginning to end. The characters are credible and certainly praise-worthy. Faced with many stressful perils Sunny did not succumb to defeat; her passion and lion-hearted persona make her a most valiant heroine; Babel's protective nature and unfading devotion shines like a beacon. I relished this story, it was a most gratifying read. If you dote on shifter fantasy with sizzling romance, mystery, and humor this is definitely a fabulous choice for your library. {I was given an arc for a completely honest review}. In the world of shifters the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations I highly recommend this book....

You've Got Tail

Hilariously Funny While Also Serious Mystery Story!

I was gifted this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
You’ve Got Tail follows Sunny Haddock, a beautiful, brave, and funny psychic, who travels to the Ozark town of Peculiar to find her missing best friend Chavvah Trimmel. After several unsuccessful ventures she doesn’t give up but enlists the help of Babel, Chavvah’s gorgeous brooding younger brother who happens to have the hots for Sunny and a Phantom Dog.

What Sunny doesn’t realize is that the Town she came looking for Chavvah is a town full of shifters that do not welcome strangers who may learn their secrets. Will Sunny be able to find Chavvah? Will she uncover the secrets before it’s too late? Will Sunny and Babel get a HEA?

Chav has talked Sunny into moving to Peculiar, Missouri with her and co-buying a restaurant there calling it "Sunny's Outlook". Sunny heads to Peculiar when she gets there she finds the restaurant unlocked and trips over a sexy naked man in the middle of the floor lol. The sexy man turns out to be Babel lol. oh course while he is out she does what any hot blooded woman would do drools over his sexy very hung naked body, and checks to make sure he is ok lol. When she smells Whiskey on him she gets a spray bottle of water to wake him up with. Oh it wakes him up all right and Sunny finds her self trapped on top of all that yummy goodness lol. Babel tells her to leave town only Sunny is a stubborn, determined young woman and is not leaving!. She is staying and finding Chav no mater what any one of the quirky town people say lol. When you decide to start over in a town named Peculiar, you should expect the unexpected.

Sunny planned to start a restaurant with her best friend but heads there earlier than planned when her friend disappears. The welcoming committee is not so welcoming and don't shy away from telling her to leave. They make it clear she doesn't belong. Even her friend's good looking brother, Babel, wants her to leave and offers to buy her out.

It doesn't take long for her to realize that the townspeople are shifters and she is very much in danger by staying. She also has an attraction she can't shake to Babel (Babe). Her psychic abilities are getting stronger and she knows she can help find her friend and solve a major mystery about the disappearance of others if she can stay alive.

I really enjoyed the humorous dialogue. Sunny tends to say exactly what she is thinking and it definitely leads to funny interactions. She is not shy about admitting to her good and bad traits. Her attraction to Bebel starts off pretty awkwardly and then becomes something much more. She hasn't had a lot of people in her life she can trust.

Poor Sunny gets really abused physically in the town. There is a lot of violent behavior. The end has some real sadness and I definitely teared up as the mystery was solved.

I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more by the author.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.
