The Lord has thrown a pillar of righteousness from the heavens to crush the head of the serpent and you are holding it in your hand. The wisdom of God is contrary to the way of our natural minds; we believe we need to be strong, and the last thing we want is to become weak or come to the end of ourselves. We have a survival instinct which causes us to just keep on keeping on with the works of the flesh; one more time around the mountain, one more attempt in our own strength and maybe, if we tell the same story one more time, it might finally become the truth.
