It’s no joke. Marcy and I got married.”

“So, um, how did you end up doing something like that?”

Nick smiled at Tom’s bumbling attempt at discretion. “That is a long story.”

What drove me to Taking a Gamble was the blurb. When I started reading I wasn't sure if this story would be my cup of tea, but it ended up being a great surprise. This novel is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. No cliffhangers.

The hero and heroine have an amazing chemistry together and it was refreshing to see them lay it all out there right at first.Since they have known each other for a long time it wasn't weird at all. They shared their issues, insecurities, talked about their families..I enjoyed reading that before the sex scenes.

This book is fluid with plenty dialogue, pacing was ok. I really enjoyed the author's voice. It left me wanting more so I will start by reading the series before this spin off was published. Overall, a rich and scorching hot contemporary romance. I took a gamble and won.

This is a spin off series of the Time for Love series that starts with This Time.  This is a total standalone book however we see a lot of the same characters for the Time for Love series.

Marcy who is one of Danni’s and Chelsea’s best friends (from Time for Love series).  She is down in the dumps because all her friends are getting married and finding the men of their dreams.  Here Marcy is basically single with no prospects for her future Mr. Right.

Nick, overhears a pretty embarrassing conversation that Marcy is having with a D-Bag and strikes up a conversation with Marcy.  Now Nick is Danni’s older brother and Marcy’s high school crush.   Marcy has long gotten over her crush (or has she) and has put Nick in “he is a man whore” category in her mind.

On a dare to prove that she isn’t boring Marcy agrees to go with Nick to Vegas.  Well she defiantly isn’t boring.  Since she wakes up NAKED, in bed with Nick wearing nothing but a Wedding ring… OMG

Now I was thinking this was going to be a story similar to the Movie What Happens in Vegas.  However I was dead wrong.

This was such an endearing story based around two people starting off Marriage in a most unconventional way, but agreeing to give it a try and see where it goes.

“You want me to give up a year of my life pretending to be married to you?” “No, I want you to invest a year of your life wholeheartedly committed to being married to me.”

I found myself smiling throughout most of the story.  That is when I wasn’t laughing.  Or even tearing up.   The love scenes where hot and I loved Marcy's and Nick's story.  I can’t wait to see who is next!...Sara

This is the first book from this author that I have read but i have to say it will definitely not be the last! I feel like I should have read the other’s in the series beforehand since I didn’t really get the whole dynamics of the others characters but I don’t think it really took away from Marcy and Nick’s story.

I was sucked straight into this book and I found that I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the authors style of writing and the story flowed really well.

So we have Marcy who is this uptight kind of boring woman who seems to scare men with her intelligence and her no nonsense attitude! I found her a little hard to relate to at times and she got on my nerves a little with the things she said to and about Nick, but in the end i really enjoyed her character.

I really loved Nick, he had me so captivated with him from the beginning of the book and even though there were a few times where he was kind of a jerk he redeemed himself so much. I swooned hard when he showed up at Marcy’s work to take her out and his constant attention to her was so charming.

There were a few times I got a bit choked up, especially with Marcy’s work but overall this story had a smile on my face and gave me quite a few chuckles along the way.

I can’t wait to see what comes next for this group of characters and I will be going back to read the other stories from this author before I venture any further with this series.

This book is a spin off from the Trish Edmisten's Time for Love Series.
When I began reading this novel I was curious to see how a love story would be in the big gambling city. I was pleasantly surprised that it was full of passion and sweet tender love. Who would believe that two people could wake up in bed, find themselves married in Vegas, and actually make a go of it.
The novel itself was hard to put down, and I really got into this story. At first Marcy is a depressed young lady. All of her friends have left her behind, married, and moved on. In High School she had a major crush on Nick, but when things did not work out she simply chalked it up to him being a playboy man whore. On a dare, they take a trip to Vegas together, and she finds that he's actually a likeable guy. When they discover they got married on a whim, they decide to try and make it work.
Taking a Gamble had me laughing out loud and at times getting misty eyed. It is well worth the read. If you like emotional reads as I do this would be the book for you.
Trish Edmisten is an awesome writer and I plan on reading more of her work. This one tugged at my heart and will remain one that I remember for a long time.

This is the first book in a four book series that features characters from the "Time For Love" series, which in turn featured characters from the YA book "Like You Mean It". Every book in the "Taking On Love" series can be read as a standalone, as they provide enough background information for the reader, however, it is more than worth it to start from the beginning with "Like You Mean It". The main characters in "Taking A Gamble" are Nick and Marcy, who were both originally introduced in "Like You Mean It". Marcy used to have a huge crush on Nick when she was a teenager, but when they meet up again as adults, Marcy seems to be completely over Nick, so how comes she finds herself married to him in a ceremony she can't even remember? In "Taking A Gamble", Nick and Marcy find themselves in a unique situation, for although they have know each other for years, they have never been close or actually known hardly anything about each other and on more than one occasion Marcy has shown absolute distain for Nick. It will be up to Nick to convince Marcy to take a gamble on him and their marriage. Will he be successful or will their marriage be over before it has even began?

I loved Taking A Gamble. I've read the books that came before this one. The characters were very familiar to me. Coming in to the story, I more or less knew what to expect. The thing was, I didn't really know much of these characters. I liked Marcy from the other books. She was a solid character. In Taking A Gamble, we saw other sides of her. She didn't feel as stiff as we saw her from the point of view of Chelsea and Dani. I loved that. And Nick, don't even get me started. In Like You Mean It, I almost hated Nick. He was immature, and kinda mean. In The This Time series, I actually started liking him. He was flirty, sarcastic, manly, but cute. But it was nothing compared to the sides of him we saw in Taking A Gamble. This story had the perfect amount of steamy, sexy, and cute. There were so many adorable moments. There were so many moments that left me 'awwing' with how sweet Nick was. I was honestly not expecting for this story to play out this way, but I was so glad it did. It was a good conclusion to two characters that I wasn't sure how their happy ending would turn out.
