For five years Jamie has managed to outrun his past, his pain, and anything remotely resembling an emotion. Now, with his probation over, he’s finally ready to leave town with plans to fade into the crowd and noise of Las Vegas. No more court-ordered grief counseling. No guardian trying to keep him out of trouble. He’s convinced all he needs is a blackjack table and a strong drink for the rest of his life. Trixie believes she can tame the monster that keeps her tethered to Las Vegas. Her boyfriend, Eli, is difficult, but she can handle him. One night, however, her child’s in danger rather than herself, and she realizes running is the only chance they have to survive. Jamie offers safe passage out of town on one condition—Trixie cannot pry into his past. With every mile they drive, they grow closer. But the storm that chases them won’t relent, and somehow they must find a way to weather it together. The Rough Waters 1: The Goodbye StormBook 2: The Runaway StormBook 3: The Rising Storm
Writing is a way to make a lot of different people do exactly what you want them to do. When I can’t get my toddler to listen to me, I turn to my characters. They always cooperate!
I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry.
Ten Things to know about me:
1. I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.)
2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.
3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.
4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.
5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.
6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.
7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.
8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)
9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.
10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

This book is by far not as good as the first one. I had some worries about it because the main character this time is Jamie and he was my least favorite character in the first book. Not the least favorite person but character. He is way too perfect. He is sooo smart and such a women savior and does everything right. Just sickening.
This is why the first book was better. It had people besides Jamie whose characters were not one dimensional. And they showed different ways of feeling about death and such. This one is a pretty simple cliche story about a woman running away from her abusive boyfriend and Jamie helping her. It was not too interesting and I hated the dialogues. Who talks like that?
And there was a mistake made with the female lawyer character. She went on with that tirade on how she hates men and some feminist stuff about being a female lawyer. Which would be good if the guy, who was a douche, actually said something about her being a woman, lol. Would have been easy to add that. Otherwise she seems unreasonable.
What I liked though was the backstory about Jamie's mom. There wasn't much on it but it was a good story.
I am sure I will like the next book more. Noah was the most interesting character and I truly hope he remains such even though he decided to be a good man.
Yall….. Yall no but seriously Yall… I haven’t read a book that affected my heart like this in a LOOOONG time I knew this book was gonna be good because of how much I loved Jamie in the first book BUT THIS THIS WAS FAR MORE THAN I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR the character development of Jamie is so MOVING and so BEAUTIFUL It shows the power of when you meet your person The person who makes you want to be better The person who makes you want to open up and finally bring your walls down That was Trixie They both NEEDED each other to heal and it was done in the most tragic yet beautiful way they both were running from their past and just wanted to look the the future without looking back But sometimes you have to look back to gain closure you need to move forward Trixie’s story was so emotional My heart went out to her and her daughter for the life they were quite literally trapped in She just wanted her daughter to be safe above all else The second her daughter was in any sort of danger she acted without hesitation When your life is in shambles you need someone to rely on and they had each other They healed each other And the plot on the corruption in the government was INSANE LIKE THAT STUFF CAN REALLY HAPPEN YO SO CORRUPT ITS CRAZY but Roberta the lawyer in this was THAT GIRL YALL SHE WAS SUCH A BADDIE I LOVE WHEN WOMEN KNOCK DOWN A MANS EGO TO MERE DUST SHE DID DAT YALL SHE. DID. THAT. pls read so I can talk to someone about this PLEASE I WANNA LET THIS OUT TO SOMEONE
Travis and Autumn and even Noah and Donna made appearances in this And it was all just so perfect I have absolutely no critiques This was a FIVE STAR READ QUEEN The feelings this book evoked in me yall I truly was rooting for Jamie And it makes me sad that he’s fictional but there’s people out there just like him With a messy past with anger and resentment built up inside of them But there will be a day when someone helps them to release that breathe they’ve been holding They’ll be alright… GOD IT WAS JUST SO GOOD GUYS I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND IM SO SAD ITS OVER I just know this is the best one outbid the Rough Waters series But I am excited to read about Noah now I miss Jamie, Trixie and Maisie already My family…
The Runaway Storm by Danielle Stewart is the second book in the Rough Waters series and this book will follow Jamie. You absolutely must read book one to understand this book. This book was intense and heart-pounding but so good. I love Jamie as a character. He feels so real, so thoughtful and he reflects on things he goes through! Once again this book shows how tough can be willingness to help someone who is not ready for it. Jamie's rough life experience in childhood and later acceptance support from Travis made him strong, independent and kind-hearted so when he spotted trouble that Trixie was into, he was there to help. Not expecting anything back! But life sometimes can be dangerous and soon Jamie finds out that he started an unpredictably dark game.
This is Jamie's story. There was a lot to unpack in this book. Death, mental illness, domestic violence, what actually makes a family. Jamie has gone to Las Vegas to make as much money as possible to care for his mentally ill mother. A mother he has nothing to do with, due to a tragedy years before.
While in Vegas, he meets Trixie. Nothing happens, she's just a waitress and he knows her. He sits many nights at the same black jack table and gets to know her a little bit. Until one night when a newcomer sits at the table and makes a pass at Trixie. Trixie gets mad at Jamie for trying to help her. He steps outside to calm down. Trixie steps outside, also to calm down. That's when Trixie's drunk, abusive, controlling boyfriend shows up saying he's left her 4YO daughter locked in his truck, but he can't remember where it is.
Danielle Stewart books always have great characters that are so raw and real. You can’t get enough and usually want the book series to never end. In Rough Waters #2 Jaime and Trixie are opposites personalities that have had some tough breaks. Thrown together by chance, they escape Las Vegas in order to hide and protect Trixie’s sweet 4-year old daughter from Trixie’s powerful ex who is desperate to hurt them. A quick wonderful read.
I cannot remember the last time I’ve rolled my eyes so much. I will avoid this author AND narrator. So relieved when this STUPID fairytale finally ended!
This was a nice follow on from the first book in this trilogy. It shed more light on some of the other characters back stories, developed the world further whilst taking a completely different type of storyline compared to that of the first. It was an enjoyable, engaging, quick read.
Danielle Stewart has written another amazing novel in the "Rough Waters Series," and in general. She is an author who never disappoints no matter the series of genre.
This was Jaime and Trixie's story. It was wonderful to see the many ways Jaime grew throughout this novel. Whi!e he and Trixie had several challenges to overcome, they learned to do so as a team and s!only with a great deal of honesty on both their parts. They learned to become both introspective and to grow as a couple and family and the benefit of facing challenges head on. A deeply honest and realistic novel, it was also enthralling and one I couldn't put down.
Danielle Did an awesome job of continuing the story of Autumn, Travis, Jamie and Noah. She keeps the reader hooked right to the very end. The suspense made the story along with the sadness. Looking forward to more of this series.
After reading the goodbye storm, I waited a day to buy the other two books in the series. And I was not disappointed. Danielle Stewart makes you fall in love with Jaimie, who isn't all that lovable. And there were parts I really had to pause to dry my tears. On to the 3rd book!
Absolutely loved this story. Found myself sobbing several times. looking forward to the next book in this series. Danielle Stewart has such a way with words.
