This is a decent book about rock climbing equipment and techniques, which comes with a semi-helpful DVD. I was looking for something a little more basic so it wasn't terribly helpful for me, but it was interesting to see some of the more complicated holds that I will probably never try. Actually, it's hard to identify the target audience for this book. The holds are complicated (putting your heel above your head while trying to get on to a ledge, etc.) but the book also discusses how to tie knots and use carabiners, which (one would hope) climbers who can scale rock faces by putting their heels over their heads should already know.
I'm not sure who the audience was for this book. The pictures were excellent, and the explanations decent, but I'm always concerned with climbing books that demonstrate both belaying and sport climbing. And, also, books that suggest that you can learn either from a book in the first place.
