Rate this book
A rock starlet whose biological clock is ticking... An ancient demon under orders to make a goddess out of the starlet... A Parisian heiress with a stalker obsession for the starlet-goddess... And a son of vodou whose life tangles with theirs, as time runs out for him to claim his rightful title... Four lovers. Ancient power. Modern passion. Is love enough to save their sanity from immortality? ___________________________________________________________________________ "Jennifer Stevenson is the mistress of magic, combining voudou, music, and the call of true love in a unique melange. In Walking on Sunshine, Stevenson makes the ancient seem new again, the ordinary seem exotic, and the otherworldly more real than we ever dreamed it could be. Bravo!” — Mindy Klasky, USA Today bestselling author of the Jane Madison Series

I started swimming at 40, riding horses at 42, roller derby at 52, speed skating at 54 ... something's backward there. Read about my latest bruise at https://www.facebook.com/JenniferStev...

I've been writing since I was four, and didn't publish a story til I was 34 ... something's backward there too. Read about my latest books at http://www.bookviewcafe.com/index.php...

Living my life backwards means I get to eat bacon every day and goof off all summer. Don't be fooled. Writing is still a job.

This continues with the characters of Baz and Veek, from 'It's Raining Men' ( (Slacker Demons Book One), so it would be best to start there, and then read 'It's Raining Angels and Demons' (Slacker Demons Book Two) and continue with Dancing With Cupid (Slacker Demons Book Three) on the way. That way, you know the background (it's very complicated!) and the characters (they are also complicated), and they are well worth reading. Be warned: the Slacker Demons books are not for everyone. They are funny, irreverent, sexy, romantic and feature demons (from the Regional Office aka Hell), angels (from the Home Office aka Heaven), an ancient god, the Goddess Aphrodite, and all are unlike anything you might expect.
Aphrodite has a job for sick-of-immortality, lonely and bored Baz. He must shepherd Iona's passage into divinity and keep her sane. Veek is assigned a new mambo by his mentor Jake/Baron Samedi to make him finally work. His new mambo is a rebellious teen named Sophie. Sophie is a would-be groupie for Iona, who is the singer-dancer that Baz has been assigned to help develop her goddess power. Complications ensue when Baz's job intersects Veek's job. In the following pages, a lot of sex demon adventures occur with some amazing sex scenes, vodou magic, the bugeoning goddess powers of Ioni, the machinations of Sophie to put Veek to work, all cause innumerable humorous situations, as well as some very emotional episodes, and of course the Baz sex demon-Ioni goddess sex scenes and the Veek sex demon-Sophie sex scenes, culminating in over-the top weddings and honeymoons. At Veek's wedding, we meet the future tenants of the Lair: described as "arm candy" by Veek and "the loveliest, wickedest, skankiest succubi in the second circle of hell" by Ish Qbybbl, who is also attending the wedding. I can recommend their stories in The Coed Demon Sluts series.
This book is a fun read, entertaining, full of humorous situations, funny dialogue, soul-searching for meaning and identity, lots and lots of sex, and very vivid, colorful descriptions everywhere.

Sex demons Baz and Veek have been assigned the tasks of looking after future goddess and current rock idol Iona. and Sophie, her crazy stalker (and distant relative of Veek). Everything turns out to be a bit of a crazy mess, full of vodou magic, music, sex and family drama. Will the demons find their place in the Universe? Have they found their soul mates.

The story switches from the point of view of each of the main characters, covering the past and present, allowing the plot to transition smoothly to its inevitable conclusions. All of the characters are wonderfully flawed and both likeable and frustrating at the same time.

"Walking on Sunshine" by Jennifer Stevenson is Book Four in the Slacker Demons series. I must confess that this is the first one I have read, and although I suspect that the earlier novels give a lot of background to the story, they can be read as stand alone novels. This is a crazy but fun read.

Wow! Enjoyed immensely! Jennifer Stevenson wrote an excellent book joining the last two slacker demons with their soulmates. This book was about four individuals with lots to learn and share with each other. You have Yoni and Baz and Sophia and Veek. Such interesting characters of gods and goddesses and voodoo mixed together. Interactions between the characters were humorous but serious as well. Sophia's father had moments of nastiness but their was hidden love and lots of caring. Goddess blessings to tie in the next series should provide humor and challenge to the next set of Lair residents, lol!
