Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich was a Roman Catholic Augustinian nun, stigmatic, mystic, visionary and ecstatic.

The daughter of a peasant couple, Anne Catherine Emmerich worked as a seamstress and servant before entering an Augustinian convent in 1802 at age 28. Frail and pious, she became known for her ecstasies, visions of the supernatural and "conversations" with Jesus.

After she became bedridden in 1813 she developed the stigmata -- bleeding wounds corresponding to those of the crucified Christ. A church investigation pronounced the wounds genuine. Ill for many years until her death at age 49, she offered up her suffering for the souls in purgatory. She was beatified on October 3, 2004 by Pope John Paul II.

I found this book "In A Year" on a TAN Books podcast that started on May 22, 2024. They picked that start date so that her visions of Jesus' Passion, Death and Resurrection match up liturgically from Ash Wednesday through the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, 2025.

I'm starting on Day 246, Ash Wednesday in Volume 4 of the book (because the calendar won't match up next year) and then will circle back around to the previous three volumes.

This four-volume series has been one of the most significant along my faith journey, bringing detail and life to familiar Bible stories. I would set it along with Maria Valtorta's Poem of the Man God--five volumes-- as an invaluable resource for growing in relationship with Jesus Christ and for understanding the big picture of salvation history. As a bonus the reader gets to know Mary and the apostles and disciples and develops new understanding about the development of both Judaism and Catholicism. I read the four volumes over the course of a year, only a chapter or so at a time each morning. I highly recommend it to all who take their faith seriously!

"Vida, Paixão e Glorificação do Cordeiro de Deus" (Life, Passion and Glorification of the Lamb of God) is a book written by the German mystic and stigmatist Anne Catherine Emmerich. The book provides a detailed and vivid account of the life of Jesus Christ, including his birth, childhood, ministry, passion, and crucifixion.

Emmerich's writing is characterized by its emotional intensity and vivid descriptions, bringing the events she describes to life in the reader's imagination. Her descriptions of the events of the passion and crucifixion are especially powerful and moving, providing a deep understanding of the sacrifices and suffering of Jesus Christ.

One of the strengths of this book is the author's ability to integrate her own mystical experiences into her account of the life of Jesus. This provides a unique perspective on the events she describes, offering insights into the spiritual dimension of Jesus' life and mission.

In conclusion, "Vida, Paixão e Glorificação do Cordeiro de Deus" is a deeply spiritual and moving book that provides a rich and detailed account of the life of Jesus Christ. The book is well-written and provides a powerful and emotional exploration of the passion and crucifixion of Jesus, making it a valuable resource for those looking to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith.

Sve preporuke! Sadrži mnogo detalja i objašnjenja vezanih uz poznate događaje iz Evanđelja, kao i puno dodatnih neispričanih događaja. Također, velika je pomoć u razvijanju odnosa s Bogom i boljim razumijevanjem Njegovog ljudskog života i poslanja.

This is my recommendation for a starting place with Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich's writings. I think the beginning is a great place to start.
