Dream Girl

Rate this book
Chloe Barnes, sassy and spirited, has just landed herself a coveted spot on the cast of the Dream Girls reality TV show. She knows that nobody could ever find true love on a dumb show, but she’s in it for adventure and travel… not for sexy super-hunk Dominic, with his riveting dark eyes and abs of steel.

Chloe finds herself verbally sparring with handsome Dominic, and prefers to do things her way. Whether she’s raking manure in an evening gown or accidentally falling off the fishing boat, Chloe keeps things interesting. As they spend time together and passion grows, their banter turns to serious sparks.

But not all is perfect in the Dream World - Chloe is constantly out of favor with the producer, and there is a lot of competition and tension on the show. Should she risk it all and give Dominic her heart? And what's going to happen at the final ceremony - if she even makes it that far?

Alexis Alvarez writes romances - some are light-hearted contemporary romances; others delve into the exotic world of domination and submission.

Her female heroines are strong-willed women who are never push-overs, and who can hold their own in society and the workplace, but who are intrigued with the idea of kink and submission in the bedroom. Alexis writes with skill and poetry, creating worlds that are both dark and erotic and, at times, humorous and light.

Alexis is a writer, photographer, gourmet cook, former engineer, and mom. She likes other things besides BDSM fiction, and some of them include snorkeling, lemon bars, thunderstorms, and laughing so hard with her sisters and brother that her stomach hurts.

You can find Alexis at the website she shares with her two real-life sisters, who are also romance writers: www.graffitifiction.com

The banter between the main characters made laugh out loud so many times that even my dog even looked up at me in judgment. Chloe is sassy, hilarious, and refuses to play by the rules. When she gets a chance to participate in a reality tv show (similar to "The Bachelor"), she goes for it as the adventure of a lifetime. But she and Dominic learn that reality tv doesn't contain too much reality (ahem scripted drama and scheming) the hard way. The totally random facts (any book that references Phineas Gage is a winner in my book), friendship with other housemates despite pressures against them, and fun and hot chemistry shared between the main characters made the book.

An interesting premise with an execution that will have you laughing, hot and bothered, or wondering what the hell these crazy characters are up to.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
This was a fabulous, humorous, titillating, sweet romance that will have you laughing, sighing with content, and gasping for breath for hours. Dominic and Chloe know how to trade insults and burn up the sheets like nobody else. Alexis brings us reality TV wrapped up in a hot and passionate love story that is searing as well as endearing. Dominic and Chloe had me riveted from the very first sentence to the last. I couldn't wait to see what the producers had up their sleeves next to either throw Dominic and Chloe together or rip them apart.

Dominic is an eligible bachelor that is not really looking for love but owes a favor to a friend so this is how he becomes a bachelor for the reality show Dream Girls. He is an intelligent, seductive, debonair, stock trader that is caring and respectful towards women. He is charming, arrogant, and is confident whether it is in or out of the boardroom. From the moment he and Chloe exchange barbs the sparks fly and the attraction is unmistakable and the voltage just goes up from there. Dominic aka "Toolbox" as Chloe likes to call him, has this sensual, commanding presence that has Chloe alternating between breathing fire and becoming a quivering mess at his feet.

I immediately wanted to become Chloe's gal pal, she is just that kick ass! She has a quip for every situation, is not afraid to stand out and be unique, and has principles that run deep. She also is not looking for love just an adventure where she can indulge photography skills. Being in the wrong line at the right time is exactly how this opportunity lands in Chloe's lap and she plans to grab the bull by the horns and have the most fantastic experience. She makes every moment on Dream Girls memorable not only for her in the other contestants but for Dominic as well. Chloe aka "Trip" is a bold, brash, voluptuous, woman who is unaware of the effect her beauty has on Dominic until he takes matters into his own hands. In his hands is exactly where Chloe needs and wants to be.

Dream Girl is exactly what you need if you are looking for a romance that will make you smile, laugh, and is spicy enough to make your temperature rise at the same time. Alexis Alvarez has done it again. She has given us an original story line with unforgettable, lovable characters that will leave you wanting to look into unusual places to find love. I highly recommend!

This is the first I have read from Alexis Alvarez and have to say it was uniquely funny and sweet. I loved the whole concept about the Dream World. I`m not a fan of reality shows especially dating ones but have to say if the Dream World was real I would so sign up for it. Alexis Alvarez just made me laugh all the way and have to say through all this I was amazed at the quirkiness and sassy Chloe Barnes. Have to say that for a man against 20 women Dominic was really super calm through it all. Usually it is the man that steals the story but in this case it is all about Chloe. Alexis totally nailed it with the comedy, romance and just sweet unusual story line not seen in most case.

Dream Girl was such a fun and entertaining ride. I especially enjoyed the friendships between contestants, each woman brought something fun and "interesting" to the table and their conversations had me giggling out loud. The romance between main characters was dynamic and I loved the twists and turns this story took. I don't do spoilers so you'll have to read for yourself. Great job Alexis!

Reality TV at its dreamy finest….

Me and reality television don’t mix. I’m really more of a History or MovieMax kind of gal. Little did I know what I was missing until the Dream Girl show showed me the hilarity, the seriousness and the drama that lurks behind the camera lens… Is this Reality TV 101? I sure hope so because it is sarcastic, funny, back-stabbing and honest in a way that makes me view the whole genre with a different perspective…

Chloe is the full-on heroine of this laugh-out loud yet, at the same time, emotional romance. And it is a romance despite the false trappings of the love reality show they find themselves embroiled in.

Dominic is a swoony hero – handsome, successful and loyal to a fault. Well, it’s a good fault to have but it does him no favors when he is dragged into the rose-filled world of matchmaking love. They’re in it for different reasons and while love may not have been their end goal, it is dogging their every step.

Sparks fly from the start and Chloe is hilarious with a sarcastic wit that captures Dominic (and my) attention right away. Their chemistry heats up through one (mis-)adventure after another as they criss-cross the globe with a show that is helping and hindering them at every turn. Strong characters are not limited to just Chloe and Dominic as the show’s contestants and creators are memorable in their own sometimes friendly (sometimes really not!) ways. There is high drama of all kinds that make me laugh and make me wonder too. There are real people involved, after all, and not all is glitz and glamour and fluffy frivolity. Deviousness runs rampant and the show is highly entertaining, on and off the set!

Top ten favourite quote this year:
“I just hope you’re not going to be a total tool box. I don’t want to be dealing with the entire inventory of the Craftsman line at my local Kmart.”

Another great read by this author, my favourite (so far)!

Oh, my goodness! Dream Girl caught me by complete surprise. I am not a big Bachelor/Bachelorette fan and have only seen a few episodes but not in their entirety. If reality TV was as entertaining as Dream Girl is I would be a fan for life. I really enjoyed seeing what happens
when the cameras aren’t rolling or when it isn’t over edited. I laughed until I cried at the interaction between Dominic and Chloe.

Chloe is my kind of girl. She’s quick with her comebacks, funny and lets her sass show. I loved that she didn’t let anyone bring her down. She could take care of herself in just about every situation.

Dominic was thrown into being the next victim in the Dream World as a favor to the producer. He’s handsome, rich and decides that dating women in exotic places might be worth the sacrifice.
Dream Girl has lots of drama, showing of claws but especially moments of fun and love.

Alexis Alvarez is now a one click author for me because she really knows how to make even the craziest of situations real. I really enjoy the imagination she has in creating her characters.

Grab Dream Girl today and enjoy the ride.

4.5 Stars - Whether you're a fan of "The Bachelor" or not, this book is for you! Fans will bask in the drama, cattiness, challenges, and love. Haters are going to be saying, "See! It's all fake!" when they get a glimpse into the TV producers role and the not so realness of this reality show. I've had a love/hate relationship with it over the many years, so I appreciated it all.

I freaking loved Chloe! She's intelligent, strong, witty, feisty, and beautiful both inside and out. So what if she has a weakness for Dominic and can be a tad hotheaded at times. I couldn't help but root for her and laugh at her antics along the way. Chloe just made everything interesting. And the friendships she made will be lasting and the enemies long forgotten when it's over.

I had hoped for more time between Chloe and Dominic. Their chemistry and passion were electrifying. You could sense something more between them the very moment that they met. The teasing and sparring was spot on and helped to fuel their desire. And the sex was hot!!!

DNF at 63%.
This started out funny but then it went downhill from there. There was too much time in the middle of the book when it was all just Chloe and no Dominic and I got bored. Also, I feel like they barely even knew each other for more than half the book, they weren't even physical with each other. Then when they finally were, they still didn't know each other so I was a bit just... Not into it. I don't know. I kind of don't even like him. He kept saying suggestive things to her before they knew each other and it turned me off. I just wanted to smack him. and then when he started telling her he was into tying her up... Nope. Done. It wasn't presented in a sexy way, it felt awkward and yucky. Also, Chloe is supposed to be in her 30's but she girl chats with the other girls like she's a 16 year old. So yeah, DNF at 63%

As I view life through books, from the comfort of my recliner, I come across scenarios, which I am so grateful not to be a part off, in the real world.
The world of reality television is such a place. Contestants closeted together for a period of time, expected to carry out insanely stupid challenges, whilst always with the sword of dismissal hanging over their heads.
Life is bad enough, but through in a distorted producer and a support staff willing to distort the truth, and you have a very disturbing situation, that apparently appeals to the masses.
Through a touch of romance into the mix, and you have a story worth reading.

Wow, I almost felt like I was behind scenes of what I feel The Bachelor is really like! Alexis wrote a brilliant story that had a different plot that most the stories out there!

I was drawn into this story by Chloe's tell it like it is attitude, she kept the story free-flowing and fun, I couldn't imagine what would happen next so it definitely kept me engaged. The chemistry between Dominic and Chloe felt genuine. I like that there were behind the scene twists that caused some angst, adding to the story itself.

I have to say one of my favorite parts to this book was the Q&A With Alexis Alvarez!

Dream Girl by Alexis Alvarez is a standalone sexy contemporary romantic comedy.

I have read and enjoyed many of Alexis Alvarezs books to date. Most characters are fun and quirky, dominant and sexy and the stories are funny and diverse.
In Dream Girl, I liked the concept of the plot and I really enjoyed the sense of humour and the banter between Dominic and a Chloe from the very beginning and was glad that it continued through the whole book.

The only downside for me was with Chloe's behaviour sometimes. I got a bit frustrated with her at times. But overall, I did enjoy the book and had many laughs at the antics and some of the scenes. I got a kick out of most of the support characters as well.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Chloe and Dominic's story is truly fascinating. Being able to peek behind the scenes of a reality show and how reality and fiction intermingle in the story really pulled me in. I loved that part of the plot was set in Italy, which added even more romance and fun in my eyes.
The banter and bitching between the main and secondary characters was something I liked as it added to the contrast between deep feelings, steamy moments, and lighthearted fun.
I really loved this story and couldn't put it down.

The heroine, Chloe, is a very outspoken, funny, my kind of girl, in this book. I couldn't wait to see what she was going to say or do next. She is on a reality show and the fun just doesn't stop. I loved this story line and couldn't wait to see how it ended. Brilliant!

While there were some enjoyable moments, overall this book just didn’t quite work for me. I ended up skimming quite a bit. The dialogue, while at times entertaining, was very cheesy. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Dominic and Chloe. There was some predictability to the story.

I received an ARC copy of this book for a fair and unbiased review. That being said my favorite genres are romantic thrillers. However this book caught my attention almost immediately. It is a sweet, sexy, and very funny romance. In many ways it pokes fun at the reality television shows that are so popular these days. The characters are well developed and quite believable. Although the beginning is a little slow once you get to the meat of the book it progresses nicely. Dominic, the sexy male lead, is exactly that, a sexy male. Amusingly, he is not looking for a girlfriend and only takes part in the show as a favor to a friend. The “ladies” who hope to be his chosen dream girl go from hilarious to the kind of girl you want to kick in the bottom. I was rooting for Chloe, the female protagonist, from her first appearance. She is very funny and smart and her sister is possibly my favorite character. Chloe is your average girl competing with model thin snooty girls. If you like witty, character driven, romances then you’ll love this book. It takes a little while to get into it but once you do you’ll enjoy it.

The moment I saw the title of this book, I had to read it. I love reality TV shows, although The Bachelor is not one of the ones I watch. In this take-off from The Bachelor, author Alexis Alvarez puts the real back in reality. Dream Girl: Love on Reality TV is ten kinds of awesome. Chloe goes on Dream Girls, a dating reality show, because she wants to travel to exotic places. Dominic had agreed to be bachelor because the producer, an old friend, had done him a really big favor and called in his marker. When Chloe meets Dominic the sparks ignite between Trip Advisor and Tool (as they nickname each other). They’re perfect for each other – but the producers don’t see it that way.
This book is satire of reality TV dating shows, but yet offers up believability that makes it seem so real. The writing is great, the plotting is well done (pay attention, everything is connected and means something!), and it is just so clever and funny. I give this book SIX stars! It is 10 kinds of wonderful. If you haven’t read it, grab it.

A hot television realty show with a hot guy and twenty females.
Dominic is the newest hot guy on a reality show that he doesn't want to do. He was asked to do it as a favor for a friend. When he meets one of the contestants before hand he gets a shock into reality. Chloe is a real treat when it come to the other contestants. She doesn't want to demean herself or settled for what they want her to do. When Dominic's and Chloe's chemistry get involved they try hard to keep it down but it doesn't work.

As the play the game on reality tv for each other will they have a chance or will their chemistry go out before they get started.

This is the first book that I read from Alexis Alvarez

This book is an awesome read. The characters are funny and engaging. I was laughing and crying while reading this book. Chloe is an awesome girl. She is different from the rest of the contestant she defies every rules that she can. And she live life to the fullest. Dominic is an Alpha Dom who know what a great girl Chloe is. He is sweet and hot at the same time.

I recommend this book to people who loves HEA. ♥♥♥

This was a really fun read and a 'behind the scenes' look at "bachelor" style shows. The chemistry between "Tool Box" and "Trip Adviser" is obvious from the beginning, even if others can't see it. Chloe's sister and some of the girls Chloe meet on the show make the story move along nicely. I look forward to reading future stories about some of the girls and their adventures.

I so enjoyed reading this book. It was sexy and funny. I think this has been only my second time laughing out loud while reading a book. Not to forget, the book had a beginning, middle and end and a lot of pages. I'm going to be looking for more books from Ms. Alvarez.

Contemporary romance involving contestant Chloe on a reality TV show who is using the opportunity to travel and the show's reluctant prize, businessman Dominic. Witty sparks fly between the sexy pair culminating in a visit to Rome and the show's climax. Thoroughly enjoyable, funny and erotic.
