Stars Landing #1 - ALL BOOKS IN THIS SERIES ARE STANDALONE WITH REOCCURRING CHARACTERS

HANNAH CLARY left her comfortable life in her small hometown to chase the corporate ladder. After three years, a string of odd jobs and a long stint on unemployment, she gets the opportunity to work at one of the city’s largest companies led by the mysterious and demanding ELLIOTT MICHAELS.

She spends long hours catering to every need of her rude, condescending, and distant new boss finding that, despite her better judgment, she feels a growing attraction to him. Just as she is contemplating all the possible reasons an affair with him would be a terrible idea, mysterious letters start showing up threatening her to stay away from him.

As the threats start permeating every aspect of her life, Hannah is thrown into a dangerous situation and is faced with a difficult decision: run back to her hometown and into the arms of her high school sweetheart Sam Flynn, or stay with the smoldering Elliott Michaels despite the mysterious tormentor getting ever closer.

So, I know I had a lot to say about this book which is why I kept putting the review off...but then forgot about it. Whoops! Anyway I'll just keep this short since I can't remember shit now. Maybe I killed a few too many brain cells on New Years.

I read this while on a Jessica Gadziala kick because her books are just that amazing. What The Heart Needs was very suspenseful and I loved the mystery of thrown in with Hannah's stalker, which I wasn't expecting.

Elliott was one of those bosses that you just want to shove down a flight of stairs, but then also you would want to run down after him, rip off his shirt, and tend to his wounds..or just stare at his sexiness, whichever you prefer ;) I really liked his character and the inner battle he waged within me. I just couldn't decide if I wanted to punch him or kiss him!

Hannah is what made my rating go down to 3 stars. I couldn't get into her character and overall found her not all that interesting. There wasn't much about her that I liked, and I know there were multiple things that annoyed me but I can't remember what those were (don't judge me too hard).

Anyways, for those of you who haven't read this author, get to it! Her writing it brilliant and intriguing, and it will suck you in to the world she creates, making it seem real and as if you're apart of it.

At 95% the Hero was still a shit head and was like "maybe i do have feeling for Hannah?" NO SHIT. And then 20 pages later the "i love you's" came. Jessica Gadziala is one of my favorite authors but this book was complete shit. Nothing was satisfying and even though i skimmed the end i felt like i wasted so much time trying to finish this. This is a very mediocre office romance so my advice would be to skip it; you can find something way better and more original.

3.0 RATING- I was prepared to really like this one. I may have a slight crush on this author going on right now. Unfortunately a TSTL heroine ruined it for me. When someone is stalking you, bullying you, following you, and trying to kill you... you do not keep it a secret. Period. Other than that (sigh), the writing was good. I just couldn't get over the heroine keeping everything to herself. Bummer.

Well, for the most part, I liked this book. It was sexy, full of plot, and well written. The suspense and intrigue were present and it made it a smooth ride but what I really liked was the brooding hero.

Elliot was a wonderfully complex and sexy character. I was drawn to him right from the start like a moth to a flame.

I believe my problem was with Hannah (who so far is my least favorite Jessica Gadziala´s Heroine). I couldn't figure out what hero saw in her. I felt her childish and uninteresting.

Once again fell in love with Tad,the supportive and hilarious best friend and flirty and funny James!

I have to keep reading the series and hopefully get another 5 star reads like BREAKER ♥ ::sigh::

First of all, this book needs some heavy editing. There were tons of typos and run-on sentences. The errors became distracting.

Second, I wasn’t feeling the chemistry between the MC’s. Elliot never seemed to know what he wanted and he ran hot and cold. He was only wanting the h as a mistress up until the very end. They had explosive seggs, but I never felt any sexual tension buildup or that there was a deeper relationship building. I never felt that they were supposed to be together.

Finally, the h was an idiot about her stalker. She did everything you could possibly do wrong before finally hiring a PI after an attempt was made on her life. She also kept it a secret from the H. That’s TSTL territory.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I’ve love and can’t get enough of this author’s darker series and Stars Landing was the only series I hadn’t read of hers. It’s more on the lighter side and mostly is centered around the small town in PA and its close nit residence. Some of the books are more serious and others plenty of humor with each having some suspense in them. The characters all cross over into each of the books so we get to continue to see how a previous couple is doing even after their book.

The first book is defiantly the most serious one of the series and the only one that takes place mainly out of Stars Landing. Hannah Clary left her small town with big dreams. Three years later she is on unemployment and struggling to make her bills. When she finally gets an interview with big corporation she thinks fate has finally decided to smile on her. She is second guessing that soon when her job entails being the personal assistant of the CEO who has a reputation of being cold and relentless. She works her butt off for Elliott Michaels with little to no appreciation from him. She is also confused at her unwilling attraction for him and his suggestion of wanting to have an affair. As she is dealing with this she also starts getting threatening letters that over time escalate to threats of violence. (my only pet peeve with this book is how long it took Hannah to finally tell anyone what was going on – by the time she hired a PI it was too late)..

We are introduced to many of the future characters in this book along with a character (the PI) from her Dark series. This was a great start to the series and I had no problem wanting to immediately go on to the next book.

After reading a lot of mixed reviews I was unsure which way this book would go.

Firstly I will say I guessed who it was pretty quickly knowing that the one person that was suspected was just to obvious. Call me Sherlock if you must (;

I enjoyed the storyline it's both gripping and intriguing. I actually really liked both Elliot and Hannah, yes Elliot was a dick to start but being in his head made it easy to love him regardless of his standoffish persona. Hannah for me was also a great lead, I understand why she hid the threats only trying to at first brush it under the carpet then from fear then to protect everyone else. I think they matched eachother perfectly and the side characters are for sure entertaining and intriguing.

My only grip is that mid through I found it dragged a little. Not enough for me to be disinterested but the drama coming to a head quicker and then getting more of the happy couple would have been amazing.

But nonetheless I really enjoyed this book and love this author. I'm more annoyed I didn't read this series sooner. On to the next.

3.5 Hannah Banana Stars

I picked this up as I've read all Jessica's other series and thought I needed to get into this series.
Although I really enjoyed this story, it did't give me as much joy as her Henchmen of Savage series did. I did like Elliott, however Hannah's "innocence" annoyed me a little!

We're introduced to loads of future Characters from this series and I loved this. It made me what to dive straight into the second book in the series. This was a good start to the series and i feel they will get better as the series goes on.

I didn't care for the ex Dan. I really didn't want her to get her way. Elliott and Hannah were sweet and I enjoyed reading about them. James is a hoot and can't wait to read his story. I guess I have a busy xmas break now that I discovered this author. I've decided to read all her books in publication order since a few characters are mentioned in other books. Enjoyable quick read.

Total sweetness!

Total sweetness......well, except the nasty rodent stealing evil person! But besides that this is a typical office romance of the broody boss man and the hot assistant. Totally not what I expected from Jessica, but it was a nice break.

OMG

WHY DID I WAIT TO READ THIS!! This series is the last of Jessica’s catalog I haven’t touched and literally just b/c I wasn’t a fan of the cover.
This is soooo good! Just as good as all her others.

This would have been a 4 star read for me had it not been for how Hannah handled the whole stalker situation. I mean It just bothered me because she's such a smart & likable character otherwise. I just wish she didn't behave so naively regarding the stalker.

Beyond that, the plot was good and the writing was excellent as it usually is when it comes to Jessica's writing. I would have preferred the H chase the h more. But I did really like him and his mean on the outside but a teddy bear on the inside personality. I also liked seeing her character from another series pop up in this book.

This was an addictive read! I didn't expect to get sucked in, but lo and behold, two days later and I sit here and wonder where the time went! Ms. Gadziala certainly can build some tension. And the intimate scenes? Well lets just say I had a little talk with my husband... I will be expecting a few replays from this book :)
It is always a pleasant feeling to stumble upon a new writer who really has a story to tell. From the first scene in Hannah's kitchen to the constant back and forth between her and EM I enjoyed every page. I loved the determination and fiestiness of Hannah character. She had backbone and class despite coming from a small town. I liked the brooding power alpha male of Elliott and the fun sexy James. Even Tad was a joy to read.
I was so frustrated during the harassment and wanted to reach into my tablet and grab the rumor hounds, give a bit of a shake and a stern look, but I just kept turning pages, my heart going out to Hannah and the struggle she had to endure.
I think this was one of my favorite books for the chemistry. I couldn't get enough of seeing the two discover each other!
All together a great romance, an intriguing mystery and a really wonderful job by Jessica Gadziala.
I am now a fan!

4 Star Kindle Unlimited Read4 STAR RATING:
Among some of my favorites. Outstanding literary work. The characters are well developed, interesting. The liked characters are likable and the hated are unlikable. The writing is captivating enough to keep you interested until the end and leave you wanting more. It has a fairly original or uniquely well-developed plot. The pretense and romance were well balanced and done with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors, and chemistry. Not so much predictable if at all. Overall, loved it, I recommend reading!!

Okay...Spoilers.

It started out as boss and assistant type of romance then turned into stalking. The storyline was too slow for me and predictable. After 33% it got boring. The change in POV in between sentences threw m e off a lot and a bit confusing. A lot of self dialogue and the H was portrayed as too old. A lot of telling and I couldn't relate with the main characters. The heroine was a bit wimpy. A guy was coming on to her at the H party and she didn't want to offend H so she let the guy grab her. Then she cries afterwards. I really wanted to like this book since it has the plot that I liked work interrelationships type. Unfortunately it fell short in pulling me in. The stalking thing felt like another plot that didn't flow with the storyline. This is just my opinion though. I wouldn't recommend this book though. This was my first book on this author and will be my last. The writing wasn't too bad though.

Jessica Gadziala has a way with words. Her description of the characters in this book is so well done. I love getting introspective into both lead characters and she delivers. The mystery surrounding the gossip and the threats directed at Hannah is well done. Elliot's journey into his feelings for Hannah is epic. The humor that pops up over and over is so much fun. Real life is like that.. Humor eases the tension in our lives. There are many "boss/employee" romances available. This one stands out because the author has made these characters feel like people we care about. I know I am chaffing to get into the next book as soon as I am finished with my review here.

Give these related but standalone books a chance, I think you will be delighted.

It was good, but...

I'm such a fan of this authors work, but this one fell short for me. I guessed the stalker about half way and that's where I started to become bored with the story. It just dragged on and on for me. The end felt rushed and instead of a well developed end it just left us with a rushed weird end. I wish we would of discovered the stalker in the middle and really gave the two characters a time to build in there relationship. Both were wishy washy and it just fell short for me. But if this is your first book by this author please pick up Reign. It seriously one of my all time favs ever!

Ok

This was probably my least favorite book so far by this author- and I have been on a reading streak of hers right now. Why? Not really sure. It is still a good book and I still recommend you read it and it kept me wanting to read. It had action and good parts but a lot of slower spots in between. What am I going to do next? Get the next book from her.

Pretty PLEASE disregard the blurb of the book. I feel that it does not do it the justice it deserves. Having read the entire Navesink Bank collection before this I can admit that I was pleasantly surprised to see that JG (Jessica Gadziala for your newbs) could write outside of her more dark/dangerous vibe. Finding out that this was where her writing began made this all the more enjoyable!

Hannah is our heroine. She is a small town girl looking to make life work in the city. She left her whole world behind to pursue college and her dreams of working for a major corporation. When she finds herself employed with said corporation, things don't go quite as planned... (i.e. Elliot Michaels)

Elliot is our supposed hero. He is a royal anal retentive butthead. He runs off every single assistant he's had with his harsh demeanor and high expectations. When he happens upon Hannah's interview and she shows a bit of fire in her eyes he hires her on the spot.

OF COURSE being a JG book the sparks are obvious from the start. The two of them try to fight it, but alas.... just read it and you will see what I mean. It's some gooooood stuff happening here.

AND THEN there is the total drama of danger and suspense. So glad JG added a bit of that in here because she writes it *oh so* well. Back on track... the story takes a major turn with the danger. Plus the fact that Hannah ends up back in her hometown, Stars Landing, after said danger appears adds YET ANOTHER layer to the story.

Y'all... then we meet Sam. I would give up sweets for a year to see Sam in person y'all - and that means a lot because I have a sweet tooth like crazy. He's so down home Southern gentleman charm that it's hard to NOT fall head over heels for him. He and Hannah had a thing for years before splitting for college. Her arrival back in town means the two are together for the first time since then. Will sparks fly? Hmmmm.... READ IT AND SEE.

Sorry for all the yelling, but this book hits all my buttons. I'm biased with JG's writing since I'm so invested in these series, but in ALL HONESTY this is a great start to the series. I wrote this review after having read ALL of them so I know how it turns out in the long run. You shall not be disappointed... unless you're boring or heartless or have something against romance books or are the Grinch (It's Christmas time right now, so this note is applicable.)

Now, if you've read this whole review I will say kudos to you. The next step is the click the button that says 'Read for Free' with KU or 1-Click. Just get the book. If you don't like it, then no harm no foul. You used a bit of time to read. Could have done worse thing. BUT... if you're like me and the many others who have read it and liked it you will be thankful for such a good journey in this story. You will be excited for more (and there are more books).

***I didn't not get an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy for the newbs again). I do not personally know JG (though if she wants to be my bestie I WOULD NOT be opposed.). I did not get paid for this review. I used my KU subscription to read this book and then I chose to ramble about it here. So do with this knowledge what you will.... XOXO Jen

I hope that you don’t make a decision on this author based on this book. I’m a huge fan of JG and with the exception of this series, I have read and loved every book she’s written. She’s an automatic-purchase author for me and I look forward to each new book that she publishes.

I believe What the Heart Needs is JG’s first (if not one of the first) books that she published. There are a number of typos and the leading lady Hannah is extremely naive. She cries over everything and handles the stalker in a way that is both hard to believe and unrealistic. Elliot is a much better character and I liked both he and his brother James. Tad is also a fun character. The story itself is okay but Hannah’s actions and personality impacted my enjoyment of this book.

JG’s more recent books are excellent. She’s created a world called Navesink Bank that consists of great characters that I love reading about. She writes in a way that allows you to escape reality and feel as though you’re in the same room as the people you’re reading about. I believe her website has a list with the reading order in which to better enjoy her books. The Henchmen MC, Professionals and Savages are just a few of my favorites series. Into the Green is a paranormal series she’s written and it is also really good. In my opinion JG gets better and better with each new book she publishes and is one of my favorite authors.

I read the Star Landing series slightly out of order. I read Deviant first so I was picking and choosing when evaluating the rest of the series because Deviant was a little slow and off kilter for me. Then I read What The Heart Wants and then I said,f*** it and started over at #1. I was sucked in.

The thing with JG books is you don't have to start from the beginning of a series to enjoy the books but when you start at the beginning it's like someone opened the wardrobe to Narnia and you're entering slowly, blinking at the light and slowly being taken in by your surroundings. And you never want to leave. Then when you keep coming back, they welcome you with open arms.

I started Stars Landing after reading some Henchman, it's a big flip. It's a wonderful new world. Small-town feel and you feel like you're walking down the sidewalk with them, visiting the shops and drinking coffee at the booth next to them. It's a perfect counter to her other series and the world feels lighter but the themes are still serious, the relationships still as tight knit.

This story was one of my favorites in the series. I liked the intensity between Elliot and Hannah.

Seeing as I read 2 before 1, it was nice to see Hannah in a different light and have my mind changed about her. I was not a fan of her in Book 2. Now seeing the bigger picture, she is one of my favorite characters.

If you're looking for a vacation from NB, this is the place to explore.

Like I said in my earlier review I read this whole series at once so in my head it a long book with many characters. I wrote my reviews backwards starting with the last book to the first.

Hannah and Elliot,
I related so hard to Hannah that for the first few chapters I could have sworn that Jessica somehow knew me and this story was about me. I mean that whole counting the hours of sleep thing, or the .. *Head shake*. But then Elliot came along and I was back to my lonely self just sitting there on my lunch break reading a book about someone "like" me falling in love and being stupid.

It doesn't take much to make me happy. A new song I like and I am grinning for weeks. A new stock of German candy at my local market and pleased as can be. A good book and am literally on cloud nine. Here Jessica Gadziala gave me not one but six books to sink into.

Thank you

I found the book to be very frustrating.
The only reason I ended up finishing up (by skimming most of it) was to learn who was doing all the threats.
But I had a hard time liking Elliot, didn’t feel like we got to know him well. Hannah really made me mad that she wouldn’t tell anyone of what was happening. And even with Elliot kinda seeing something was wrong, he didn’t actually care enough to sit her down and have a heart to heart. Always just them sleeping together. That’s it. I didn’t think they had much chemistry. And the point of view changes where very confusing as you had no warning. And the whole thing made me feel ‘uuugghh’ after reading it.
I’ve liked to loved every other book I’ve read from this author. But this was sadly not it.

So, I just finished the whole Stars Landing Series and I don't know why I waited so long to read this delightful little series! Jessica, once again, surprised me with her versatile writing skills in creating this romantic small town and I even got to see swoon-worthy PI Xander Rhodes once again (sigh). Now this is just my personal opinion, but this series reminded me of Kristen Ashley, in that they had strong Alpha hotties, great leading ladies, quirky secondary characters (I love Maud), a whole lot of sweet romance, and a dash of suspense.

My only critique is that the books really need to be proofread better.

Amazing

I'm so so so mad at myself. You see Jessica is my one click wonder no matter what I always one click her books, it might take me a bit to get to them but I always one click them. Now for some reason Hannah and Elliot escaped me and got loss in the everyday shuffle. Finally I was going through my books looking to re-read the Henchmen series when I ran into What the Heart Needs. When I opened the book I couldnt stop it was like a addiction I needed to keep turning the pages. Unbelievable good book here. Perfect amount of drama and little sass thrown in here and there, hot and steamy parts to die for. One click this book, you will not be disappointed.

This was a roller coaster of a read, and a great change from the Henchmen series, although these are earlier works

Loved this intro to the Stars Landing community. The intruigue and thriller aspect was new for me as I expected this to be a bit more wham bam thx etc but was pleasantly suprised by the layers to the characters.

Only one point that I'm not not is the shaken, witch, fortune teller mystic who seems to float in and out of the story with the ease of a spectre. I suppose it takes all sorts.

Great first book, think I'll will get to finish this series
