Serial killers, however, have one thing in common, they kill, for diverse reasons and for various outcomes. Their ability to take lives easily, though, is mind-boggling. Some of them kill one or two but some also kill hundreds. It is somehow hard to fathom how these killers can do such gruesome deeds and to dig deeper into their stories can certainly be thought-provoking.The mentality of serial killers throughout the world’s history is something that will always be a curious mystery. What motivates them to kill, is something that we cannot easily understand. Some have rather simplistic, and even personal, reasons for jealousy, self-inadequacy, self-confirmation, attention, self-gain and revenge. Some take lives in order to take vengeance on the government and even include solving societal problems as their main goal. Psychopaths of this type usually like playing the role of a “supreme being” who aim to eliminate people that they consider not worthy to live. From the premier poisoners and virgin murderers to baby killers and mysterious point-blank gunmen, this book offers a rich history of serial killers that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Serial Killers True Crime is a brief rundown showcasing 7 killers and their murderous endeavors.

Pros -

-I learned about a few serial killers I’d had yet to hear about.

-This was an incredibly quick read.

-Free on iBooks.

Cons -

-Some ‘stories’ were more detailed than others but none of them really dug into the the “guts” of the events that took place (pun absolutely intended). It seemed to mostly be bullet points - author stuck to primary facts and pretty much left it at that. In particular, the retelling of Vera Renczi’s crimes touched on the victims beyond her husbands and son, but you don’t even get to know all of their names, let alone the details behind each relationship (if you could even call them that) and subsequent murders.

-Some editorial errors (typos, etc.).

I gave this a 2 star rating as there just wasn’t enough detail for me. Though it did make the book a quick read - I just would have preferred for it to be......well......meatier.

I’ll definitely give this author another shot, though, as I was able to get 6 of his works on iBooks for free and he does hit on the key aspects of each killer’s history. This does give the reader a good baseline if they’re interested in doing further research on any of the criminals mentioned.

To realize the number (and this just a few worldwide) of human who have the desire to choose punishment for others. God gave the choices to us and expected us to make some really foolish things happen.selfish selfishness. This 200 years of human choices made by people who are not brilliant but vindictive folks. Some poor parental resizing has .con tributes to the way we can see our corner of the world. Some can moved by greed in our feelings of self worth. Those standards are set early on in our worlld.. Everyday I hear of these motivations my heart breaks to know such a thing is not necessaty. A little bit of love can go far. But we are such tangled and mangled pieces of DNA and strangled parts and of hu selfish

Great stories and I hadn’t heard of any of them.

However, there were numerous typos and spelling errors which lost it a star. Also, in chapter 5, it said the killer was tried in 1985 yet she was born in the 1800s - making her 100+ years old. After research, it was found that she was tried in 1895 which made me deduct another star.

This was a book about serial killers. It explained why some of them did what they did. The preview states they are true murder cases. It is a part of history but none appeared to be in the United States. The one chapter told of a woman killing her two husbands, her son, and 32 lovers. She kept them all in the basement in zinc lined coffins!

Some interesting true crime stories

I enjoyed reading the true crime cases in this book. Some of them are from earlier times, and it was somewhat shocking to learn of the short prison terms given for multiple murder victims. Life was truly valued cheaply.
