"God's Man of Influence: Living a Life of Lasting Impact" by Jim George is a roadmap to, well, becoming a man of influence. George has been a missionary, a Seminary professor, a Pastor and an international speaker. All of these roles have provided George with a broad perspective and rich experience that is based on biblical truth. There is no earth surprising new concepts here, only the rich truth of Scripture applied to biblical manhood.

George does an excellent job weaving in Scripture, his personal experiences, and interesting stories to sustain his theme. It is obvious (to me, at least) that this book flows from George's many speaking appearances, because the chapters are laced with acronyms that George uses to make his points. If I have any criticism of this book it would be that this single feature of the author's style becomes a bit worn by the end and, for me, the acronyms became a detraction.

But other than that stylistic annoyance, George has written a solid devotional book that would be perfect to use with young college men in a Bible study or in the context of a father discipling his son and his friends or in a one-on-one discipling process. There is much here to be appreciated because the concepts George uses are based on the inerrant, infallible Word of God. Happy reading!
