When Octavien finds himself caught in the unfortunate situation of two stupid choices, he chooses the lesser of two evils - work for the guy who betrayed him and put him in jail. Now he needs to get himself imbedded back into the world that got him in trouble in the first place. Only, this time, it is much more serious and the outcomes he foresees are much worse than jail.
K. Michals recently took a risky chance to chase her dream of becoming a writer. As an adventurer who has roamed across the US, she simply considers this the next wave
K. Michals's Caught Up is a fun, fast-paced read. The characters are highly likable (even the villains), particularly the main character Tay - overall, Caught Up is an enjoyable summer read.
That being said, the writing could use some honing; with the help of a good editor, the novel could easily be transformed from good to great.
Even so, I look forward to hearing more about the adventures of Tay and Reicker.
Thanks to GoodRead's First Reads program for this novel.
Caught Up held my attention starting on the first page and it never stopped. The characters are likeable and well developed. The story continued to flow throughout the book and I never felt bogged down by any "filler". The storyline is good and quite plausible so the story never felt unbelievable. The only problem I have is the ending. I hate cliffhangers!
An easy and enjoyable read. Nice flow and good characters. Highly recommend as a beach read or an unwind with a drink read. Outside of the illegal activities I could see myself hanging out with Tay, though in all honesty I identify more to Reiker. Looking forward to more from Kim.
It was hard to believe this was the author's first book. It isn't the kind I usually read but I really enjoyed it. It kept my interest right from the beginning. I do hope we see these characters again. I didn't really like the ending but it leaves room for a sequel.
I actually meant to read this book last Summer when I received it and I wish I had. What a great, fun read, but now I want more of Tay & Reiker's story. I hope that this will be a series that writer Michals continues with.
I've been challenging myself to reading all different types of books, even subjects that are not my usual genre. This one had so much to offer and I'd read another in this series if it were put out. It had great character development between the younger Octavien and officer James Reiker. I don't want to give spoilers in my review, so just going to say it's a suspenseful read with some twists and turns and an ending you don't see coming. The characters are believable and the development between the two main characters are done beautifully. There are a few other characters that are in the book, but we get to know a little bit about, I hope if a second series comes out we get to delve into them a little more as well.
It was a quick read for me and a book you don't want to put down once you start reading it. A real page turner.
Not my usual type of read but it was a good book. Hell of a cliff hanger though. I hope the next book comes out soon. I won this book from a GoodReads First Reads giveaway.
