Frey Ortega writes erotic romance, primarily of the gay variety. He lives in what a friend affectionately calls “the south-easternmost part of Spain,” which is an archipelago called the Philippines. He’s a graduate of the Royal, Pontifical, and Catholic University in Manila, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. Primarily, he works as a writer, a novelist, sometimes a video game journalist, and overall a homebody who spends way too much time on the internet.
Nicodemus has always been a fierce warrior but when it comes to feelings he becomes shy. Two years passed since Rylan and his men arrived on the island for the first time, and in all this time Nicodemus, a romantic, was happy to just watch his mate, Addison. The 2 never really talked if not for greetings, but the human knows that the older man likes him. Running from an abusive past, probably being also raped by his ex-boyfriend, this wasnt clear, Addison isnt sure he wants to start a new relationship, he is scared of being hurt again and the only thing he wants is have fun and forget about his past. Addison knows from the way that the other man stares at him that they dont want the same thing, but this doesnt stop him from accepting a date with him. Nick, finally asked the man he loves to have the chance to court him and he agreed. They walk for a few hours and talk about a lot of things, and Addison tells him about his ex-boyfriend, and the fact that the man left him scared of being in another relationship. Nick replies that he would never hurt him, and that he doesnt understand how someone could do something like that to the person they are with. They end their date with a caste kiss on the lips and Nick leaves. Addison for the first time since he run away from his ex, is finally happy and thinking about giving Nick a chance, when he receives a message on his phone. His ex is coming to take his pet, him, back. Addison knows that he needs to leave and run again, or the man will hurt not only him but also the ppl he cares about. He is packing up, when Nick enters his room and asks him what he is doing. Addison is surprised to see him there, but at the same time is happy. Nicodemus is a gentle and caring man, and Addison decides to tells him all about the message and his past. Nick tells him that he has nothing to fear bcs he will protect him and explains to him that his are not only words, and tells him about his true nature and the fact that Addison is his mate. At start the human doesnt believe him and asks him to show him,so Nick does.
Addison doesnt know why, but he isnt scared, something inside him tells him that what Nick said was real and he feels safe. Nicodemus tells him that he doesnt have any experience in making love, he is a virgin, but that he wants to claim Addison and the human agrees, replying that he too will claim Nick as his.
Well I dint like the fact that the plot goes really fast...but the book is short so I was expecting this scene to happen pretty soon anyway....
The next morning Nick takes Addison into the woods to show him his full shift. Sadly they are not alone. Addison's ex found them. The man wants him back and if he doesnt agree he will destroy not only the wolves but also Rylan's project. Addison is able to stop Nick before he attacks the other man who is offending his mate and they decide to go tell the others what happened. They must find a way to stop Brent.
They are talking with the others, when Brent the asshole, enters the room and once again threatens them all. ( uhm... the plot really is weak in this book)
Later that night, Brent and his bodyguard are walking into the woods searching for the wolves, bcs he thinks that killing one of them will make his pet(Addison) sad and he wants to make him suffer, before he takes him back. When they finally find Nick in wolf form,Brent wants his bodyguard to kill him, but the man refuses telling him that the wolf didnt hurt them and he doesnt want to kill him. Brent threatens him,but the other man ignores him and leaves(the scene doesnt make any sense in my opinion, was only an excuse to make them talk so that Nick can understand that Brent was lying and doesnt have any power over them). After scaring Brent, Nick decides that he needs to tell the others about what he heard. Brent isnt there as his father's emissary, he was lying,he doesnt have any power to stop their project.
Thanks to the others help, and mostly to Rylan that calls Brent's father and tells him all about what his son is doing, they are finally able to get rid of that jerk. Addison is finally free and can live happy with Nick.
The book ends with Addison and Nick having sex and Nick thinking that Fate has finally made him whole.
