Mating Season #1

Taken by the Alpha Dragons

Rate this book
Jason Chase is in trouble. He was sold to the lottery by his own parents, and not the sort of lottery he wants to win, the sort where humans are handed over to dragons during mating season. If Jason tries to run, he will be branded a thief and thrown into prison, which, despite his best efforts, might actually happen.

Warrior dragons Draco and Phobos have been searching for their third for over fifty years. They can smell him in the building, and that smell is creating a lust so heavy they can hardly stand it. After tracking him down and finding him in a cell, they're furious. They nearly lost their third because of a screw up, and now their new mission is to fight off the heat inside of them long enough to convince Jason that they are there to protect him, and they will not allow anyone to hurt him so long as they are around.

The world laid out in this first book of the ‘Mating Season’ series looks to be promising in more than one way. First, there are dragon shifters – who are among my favorite paranormal creatures. Second, they seem to have taken over Earth and are now ruling humans to the point that humans are second-class citizens and have almost no rights. Huh. Nice one! I always like it when our assumption that we are at the top of the food chain, so to speak, is challenged. And set within this nicely drawn background there is the need for two dragon shifters, of whom there are only males, to mate with a human. Any human, male or female, since they can get both pregnant. Double huh! I rubbed my hands in glee, sat back, and got ready for a fun adventure.

Jason is trying very hard to make ends meet, and thinks he has done okay. His first year at college has been paid for, but when he returns home for a break, he faces an awful awakening. His parents, well, mother and stepfather, have sold his name to “the lottery” – to finance roof repairs, a new car, and a family holiday that doesn’t even include Jason - and he is now obligated to spend the summer as a sex toy to mated dragon couples. His efforts to explain that he has been “drafted” against his will and without his consent fall on deaf ears, and to make things worse, if that is possible, his statements lead to him being accused of being a thief who stole the money. It gets worse from there!

Warriors Draco and Phobos are excited to find their third, but horrified to find out how badly he has been treated. They want nothing but the best for their mate, but with all the rumors flying around about dragons forcing humans to serve them as sex slaves, they have their work cut out for them. They set out to win Jason’s trust and heart, and I absolutely adored them for their efforts. Draco is a little less alpha than badass Phobos, but no less dominant. Both of them are in heat for the entire summer, and it makes them close to insatiable. Fun times are ahead for all three men!

If you like dragon shifters and triads, if mysterious evildoers who try to separate the two dragons from their human mate sound interesting, and if you’re looking for a read that is as entertaining as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella.

This book was completely terrible! It was so boring! ! The actual premise wasn't even that bad. A world run by dragons...A 21 year old guy, jason, whose parents sell his name into a lottery to be used by a dragon couple for the summer mating season. He happens to meet his 2 mates instead of some random dragons. But then nothing even remotely like a mating took place. There didn't seem to be any emotion between the 3 of them whatsoever. They could have been strangers or fuck buddies for all we could see. There was absolutely no conflict like we would expect. .. such as some jealousy or feelings of inadequacy. Basically nothing that makes the book interesting. We learned nothing at all abt phobos and Draco who they are or how they met. I would go so far too say that they aren't even that likeable bc we don't know them! Then the final nail in the coffin was the sex scenes were total crap. it read like the author had never written a menage book but I'm fairly sure that's not true. It was seriously that bad!
Then all of a sudden the book just ends with a random murder of a minor character that we don't know Anything abt and really serves no purpose. I know there is a second book in this series already but I can't possibly think why the author even bothered to put forth the effort..

1.5 stars - Not really much to this one. Didn't really get to care for any of the main characters; too much sex and too little plot for that to be possible. Maybe book 2 will give this story more depth. For now though, I'm not really impressed.

I liked it. I think it was a great pilot for the series and now I'm excited about the next book. It had great characters, chemistry and plot development. Really felt the interactions with the protag and his men. With two hot and strong dragon-shifting men... yeah I truly enjoyed this book.

This is a fluffy book. It is cute and I love to read them but they aren't masterpieces. Overall we don't get to know the characters much and the sex scenes needed work. Still I enjoyed the story and I will read the next one.

1.5

I usually like this author's style but in case of this book it feels more like part of first book in series than actual first book.

Sorry I'm just not fond of books that leave so much unresolved

Such fun

Oh such fun! It's not often I get to read about dragon shifters, particularly in an alternate reality. I wasn't sure about Jason in the beginning....he was a little whiny.....but Phobos and Draco are super hot!

A wonderful addition to my brain candy vault!

This was a fast read with a lot of promise that fell short for me. I love dragons and the promise of a triad was a deal maker for me. I will probably read the next book.
