Tom McCarthy grew up on the Great Lakes. His love of sailing and the ocean is a driving force behind this collection of stories. He lives in Chester, Connecticut with his wife and two daughters.
Now, the subject matter of the book is interesting, as are many of the stories (if you're into history and pirates anyways I guess). The reason why this gets such a low rating is that there is only one story in this collection that actually involves Ghost Pirates in any capacity, the rest are a mixture of adventure stories and nonfiction pieces on various Pirates lives. So, very disappointing in that aspect at least
