David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to write down his stories. (Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, "because every mom needs a break now and then.”)

David published his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996; the feature film adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, David has published 52 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. David has also published seven novels for younger readers. His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 200 million copies sold worldwide.

In addition to being a prolific writer, David is a devoted philanthropist, and his greatest efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation®. Established by David and his wife, Michelle, the Wish You Well Foundation supports family and adult literacy programs in the United States.

A lifelong Virginian, David is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia School of Law.

4 stars - Dutch paperback

This book starts off maybe a little slow, and has some rough points and confusing language. However, it quickly becomes captivating and the dystopian lies leads to you, as the reader, wanting more information just as the character does.

I love Vega and Delph. This isn't a teachers dream book but it wasn't meant to be. I think it was cleverly different and creative. I've read the first two. I'm curious to see what happens in the third. It's definitely addictive the way he keeps you in suspense.

As for the one star reviews I've seen, I think most people are disappointed it isn't like his other books. It isn't his typical and though you don't like it, maybe you should have read it fully before giving such a bad review.
People do have different opinions but 1 star review? That is not honoring the work the writter puts into the story. Some respect please.

There were some things that needed work (language creation maybe) but if you continue the story, the storyline is unique and captivating.

It makes you want to know what will happen next. I am, however, a fan of fantasy and YA novels. Though it has some rough spots, it took five years to write and a lot of research. Give him some credit.

David Baldacci has given me great entertainment with his adult fiction.

However, it may well be that he has found a true calling in writing YA books. I become immersed when I read and sometimes I feel too anxious horrified and sad.

Vega Jane and her troop provide excitement and entertainment without the anxiety that can come along with reading fiction that can, or has become , reality.
