After Nikki Turner read The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah she was dismayed that there weren't other books like it. "I wanted to write the kinds of books I wanted to read," said the bestselling author, whose 2002 debut novel, A Hustler's Wife, would go on to sell more than a few 100,000 copies.
While Nikki Turner's first two novels were published by a small publishing house in the Midwest, in 2004 she signed a 2-book deal with One World, an imprint of Ballantine Books, which is part of The Random House Publishing Group. After publishing the first book under that deal, The Glamorous Life in 2005 as well as a short story collection edited by Nikki, Street Chronicles: Tales from da Hood, One World quickly signed Nikki up for three more Nikki Turner Original novels and negotiated a deal with her for her own book line, Nikki Turner Presents. Great book!

This installment of the Banks Sisters series was a little slower than the first book, however by the time I made it to the middle of the book, I couldn't stop turning the pages. It was a real page-turner. The ending was wayyy too much of a cliff-hanger though. It left me needing the next book ASAP. Luckily, it's out now and i'm going to read it soon. No spoilers here, just GO READ IT.

My review in 6 words: slow and steady, explosive at the end

So I gave the book 4 stars because I was bored. It took me 10 days to read this book and normally it takes me about 2-3 days. As I said in my “mini review” the book is slow and steady. For me, it wasn’t juicy or action packed, the majority of the book was a big build up of the siblings arguing and carrying out revengeful plans. But the last chapter, it picked up and I was like 😮 wait what?! Holding my breath, clutching my pearls....opening Book 3 now

Part 2 of a story where 4 sisters rob a bank. After hiding the money their no good mother and her boyfriend finds the money and decides to try to keep the money. A fight breaks out and one sister snaps and ends up killing her mother and the boyfriend. The other two sisters have to get rid of the bodies. The sister that snapped is on a revenge path leaving bodies all over the place. It’s a wow story with so many smaller stories too.

Wow!

This was crazy! I hated to see Ginger and Bunny go out like that. I feel like they were both just dealt unfortunate hands but now Simone and Tale are stuck dealing with the aftermath of everything. It’s like when is enough, enough? I can’t imagine how part 3 is gonna go but I loved the first two books.

Okay, so I back tracked to book 2. Got the background on Talyah. This is a great series and I hope there are more to come. These sisters stick together regardless of the circumstance. But killing their own mother????? AND, getting away with it?????

This was a great second installment of the series. It’s more action-packed than the first one and actually moves a lot quicker because you already know the main players and characters. It has definitely gotten more bloody… But still worth going along for the ride.

Wow this series gets better and better with each book but I can’t believe that Gene/Ginger is dead and I pray they find Bunny before she dies. I think Bunny has temporary lost her mind all this killing she doing. I was so glad that Ginger exposed the good and crooked Pastor Street. Good job Author Nikki Turner can’t wait to start book 3.

Sisters sisters

Good read enjoyed the storyline just confuse at how some things
were explained to much and some not enough. Love the drama and was intrigued with the characters. I'm hoping book 3 clears it all up 😀😀

Great Storyline, Too Many Errors

This storyline was very cultivating, but the author still has a long way to go with grammar, punctuation, and simple silly mistakes. One minute the detective’s last name is Dugan and the next, it’s Dungan. Hopefully over time, this gets better.

I read the first book in this series and was anxiously waiting the release of this one. This book, this book is good, but bad. Let me see if I can explain....

In the first book, the characters were defined by certain characteristics that made you like them, hate them, or feel nothing at all. Well, all those characteristics went down the drain in the second book. I couldn't believe that these were the same sisters that I read about in the first book. Most had done a complete turn around from how they were presented in book one, which made me think one of the books was a figment of my imagination, or two different authors wrote these books. The only one who stayed true to themselves was "Ginger". Poor Tallhya didn't make it pass chapter 1 before she wasn't thought about again....

Then, the web gets deeper and deeper...I'm not sure if some situations were for "shock" value, but I felt like my head was spinning with all the drama that was going on. I'm not sure if all of the drama was even believable. It just happened.

With the ending, I'm sure another book will follow. There are some lingering questions that were left concerning the sisters. So, what would I rate the book, idk. If you like drama filled books, this would be a solid 4. If you like a series that is consistent, surrounding the characters and the plot, its a weak 3 maybe 3.5. So, my final rating is 3 stars.

The bright spot in this story was the narrator Diana Luke. She delivers top notch performance as usual.. The series would've packed a punch if the 3 books were combined. This story is not strong enough to be broken out into 2 much less 3 parts.

I think the story of the Banks family would have been better served if the books were all combined. Unfortunately, there is now a 3rd installment.

Was this really written by Nikki Turner? It wasn't up to her usual standards. Was she hinting that the other sisters besides Tallhya (except for Ginger/Gene) had mental illness? Why not just say it? Why was the dialogue weird? Plus, the sloppy, abrupt ending with the loose ends? Who killed Ginger? Did Bunny really die? Was Chase really going to overlook the money he found? I don't think I see a part 3. Sooo... I'm assuming we don't get closure.
