Une B.D entre l'action et l'introspection d'un personnage plongé dans un monde sans pitié. J'ai beaucoup aimé les dessins et un peu moins l'histoire, toutefois elle se poursuit sur deux autres tomes alors j'attends la suite pour avoir une vue d'ensemble. En tout cas une bonne lecture !

Heel erg tof. Uitstekende introductie. World building zonder al te veel expositie. Solo is een goede held...ultieme badass die tussendoor een beetje filosofeert. En het tekenwerk is te gek. Ik wil meer!!!! Geef me meer!!!!

Sencillamente excepcional, un dibujo que se te hace tan ameno como cuando leias Tom y jerry, pues Oscar Martin ha sido dibujante de Tom y jerry tambien, y el guión es muy acorde al mundo creado por Oscar Martin. Al final de cada comic te introduce mas en el mundo hablandote de cada raza

Well this was a pleasant surprise. I came across this comic by pure chance and I can say what a story. I truly hope they translate more of these books to English.
Story setting is like something from the W40K - after a cataclysm Earth is now roamed by humans and mutants - both mutated creatures created by man and various species (cats, dogs, rats, reptiles etc) that mutated to human level intelligence. It is world where food is scarce and everyone is source of food for the other one. Weapons are mix of blades and guns and it is visible that more advanced engines of destruction are in existence.
So we follow Solo, our protagonist, mutated rat, as he leaves his home because he became of age and due to too many mouths to feed he needs to start his life on his own. This will put him into existential crisis as he wanders the desolated area and has his life changed by savageness of the nature and other creatures he comes into contact with. This will make a cynic of him but at the end he will manage to find a small of piece of heaven where he can finally relax and live normally.
Many people compare him with Conan but I dont think it is good comparison. While Conan seeks wealth and position in the world (to show how "civilized" civilizations are, how hypocritical they are) and considers strife natural order of things, Solo just wants to survive so he can live normally (not unlike Ridley Scott's Gladiator protagonist). And to survive his skills (both martial and survivalist) get honed to the perfection.
Art is..... beautiful is understatement. Considering the adult theme of the comic it might strike reader as a contrast to have Disney level of drawings coming to life before his eyes (same feeling I had for Siegfried comic books). Its amazing, needs to be experienced. Just beautiful.
Recommended to all fans of stories about civilization rebuilding after apocalypse.

Solo is een stripverhaal geschreven en getekend door Oscar Martin. Dit is het eerste deel van een trilogie uitgegeven door uitgeverij Dark Dragon Books.
In deze strip laat de held van dit verhaal, een rat die Solo heet, zijn familie achter wanneer hij hiervoor volwassen genoeg is. In de wereld waarin Solo moet overleven is voedsel bijna niet te vinden en zeldzaam. Het word bovendien zelfs als waardevol betaalmiddel beschouwd. Wanneer hij een stuk vlees voor een wapen wil ruilen gaat het mis en word hij ontvoerd. Als hij bijkomt mag hij de rol van gladiator vervullen. Gelukkig is vechten iets wat Solo goed kan. Maar kan hij dit ook overleven?
De tekeningen zijn goed verzorgd en de stijl past goed bij het verhaal. Ik ben zeer benieuwd naar het volgende deel.

Molto strano ma interessante, tanto che devo mettere le mani sugli altri due volumi...
Solito mondo post-apocalittico popolato da animali: topi, gatti, mustelidi e insetti di vario genere. É necessaria l'appendice finale per capire un po' come funziona il mondo creato da Oscar Martín, però WOW!
Si parte con una scena di caccia, poi il nostro protagonista è costretto a lasciare casa perché sono in troppi e non c'è da mangiare per tutti. Comincia così il suo viaggio che lo porterà fino all'interno delle arene dei pirati...
I disegni mi piacciono molto e la storia mi ha incuriosita. Sì, dire che continuerò.

La historia de este trasunto de Conan roedor atrapa, aunque hay algún error ortográfico que estropea el resultado final. En la segunda parte, que empiezo a leer, veo que ocurre otro tanto, por desgracia.

Cool artwork, and the story idea is cool, but a lot of the dialog is trite and unoriginal. This may be a problem in translation, and not the fault of the author.

Just as it have been said before, imagine Conan just with a rat like body. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it to any fans of action packed comics and great art style.

Serait-ce une thématique à la mode, mais encore une fois nous arrivons dans un univers post-apocalyptique. Mais originalité de Solo, les animaux sont devenus mi-humains. La lutte pour la survie et le pouvoir sur les espèces va être plus complexe, plus intense, plus violent. Nulle explication n'est faite sur les raisons des changements du monde, l'auteur se focalise sur la vie post-apocalyptique.
J'ai particulièrement apprécié cette projection anthropomorphique des animaux, cela me rappelle, dans un tout autre genre de bandes dessinées, Sokal et l'univers de Canardo. L'un comme l'autre ne se contente pas de transposer l'animal dans le monde humaine, ils conservent les spécificités de chaque espèce.
Si l'histoire est centrée sur un seul personnage, elle a l'avantage de montrer son évolution tant physique que psychologique, de son adaptation aux situations de survie, de lutte, de révolte, de son regard sur son monde et son futur. Cependant tome 3 sur ce sujet entraîne inévitablement quelques répétitions.
Le dessin est précis et animé. Les actions sont magnifiées avec des plans très cinématographiques, cela s'explique sans doute pour la venue du monde de l'animation d'Oscar Martin. On remarquera une allusion (ou une école commune) à Midam et ses Game Over au moment des découpes d'ennemis. Si la violence est là, voire sanguinolente sans pour autant être gore, elle peut-être vue de manière humoristique ou avec un regard de geek.
Au final, une lecture plaisante, rythmée et qui suscite une curiosité chez le lecteur concernant le tome 4 annoncé pour 2019 mettant en scène le "fils".

Ayer reseñé un tebeo sobre un mono sicario, pero el simio era tal, sin antropomorfizar. Hoy toca una rata que si que lo está. Solo es una rata de un mundo postapocalíptico donde la vida es muy dura y que habrá de dejar su familia, como hijo mayor que es, para hacer sitio y buscarse la vida por los paramos armado con una espada, una pistola y las lecciones de supervivencia y caza de su padre.
Curioso, corto y con un dibujo muy disfrutable, sobre todo en el formato de álbum francoblega, por el tamaño y porque es de pocas viñetas por pagina, muchas veces incluso de pagina completa. Album, que por cierto trae unos buenos extras en forma de fichas de razas y seres de este páramo cruel.
La única pega que le voy a poner es que se hace muy corto y te deja con ganas de mas.

Une histoire intéressante et touchante sur le traumatisme et la résilience. J'ai eu beaucoup de peine pour Solo et ce qu'il a traversé. Par contre, j'étais un peu moins fan des graphismes mais l'histoire est bien. Une bonne lecture.

Waw! Le dessin est extraordinaire, l'histoire est vraiment intéressante, l'univers est bien développé et le personnage de Solo est incroyablement bien bâti. Une BD fantastique avec à la fois des moments d'action et de réflexion.

Un cómic de lectura rápida, con mucha acción en muy poco tiempo. Donde rápidamenre uno se conecta con esta rata hábil para sobrevivir a través de su relato.
