Congratulations are still in order. Only months ago, our population reached the much-awaited ascension back into the billions. The reason behind the theatrics isn’t a secret. Not even a century ago, our species faced a near-extinction event. The virus we all know as The Plague. Such a generic moniker, meant as a way means to soften the memory, only emphasizes the devastation. In a short span of eight months, society had withered away. The survivors amounted to at most a couple hundred million.
Our ancestors faced such a tragedy. But what if I told you that everything we know of The Plague isn’t true? I’m not questioning the horrific event that occurred. What I am saying is that there is more to the catastrophe than a virus. An illness did ravage the planet. Let’s just say those who died didn’t remain dead for long.
