What a difference a day can make. Mia Caruso grew up under the roof of a tyrant. Her father, an enforcer for the DeLuca crime family, ruled his home with the same brutality that his job required. Just shy of her eighteenth birthday and four months away from a fresh start at college, he showed up and turned her world upside down. Carlo DeLuca was at the top of his game, master of his own universe as he commanded the most successful organized crime syndicate on the west coast. He'd built his empire from the ashes of his father's legacy and vowed to never allow anything to threaten that. But when Carlo looked into a pair of shining amber eyes and saw a fire that rivaled his own, he knew nothing would be the same again.

I really wanted to like this.

I liked how crazy Mia was and the way her and Carlo started out, etc.

But the writing was sloppy, the story was all over the place, and there was just too much cheesiness afoot for my taste.

This could have easily been a 5 star book for me...but...

description

You all know what a big mafia slut I am so when I read the blurb for this book I had to have it and read it...I just had to...

description

You may be wandering why I did not rate this book higher if I loved it...and I keep thinking the same thing...

description

But I just couldn't because the book had a few slips I just couldn't get over.

The first one is actually the beginning, or better said how they meet. I don't want to give out any spoilers so I'll just say this: I did not feel them at all. Their encounter felt very shallow to me and I still don't get how the big bad mafia boss changed his mind so easily and with very little explanation. I know he said why but I just didn't feel it. Maybe if the author would have made that part of the book into a memory from the past it would have been better...but as it was I wasn't really buying it.

description

I also had a problem with Mia in the beginning. Don't get me wrong...I liked her...the only problem was that I couldn't really get her or connect with her. Once it was clear to me that she's a borderline sociopath and a totally bad ass chick I loved her :D

description

Carlo DeLuca rocked and he was a total babe. What can I say? I get all hot and bothered about mafia studs :P

description

That being said...I totally recommend this book to all you mafia sluts out there because you just can't pass on the opportunity to meet Mr. DeLuca :P

What a hell of a ride was that!!!

I fuckin' adored this twisted, brutal and messed-up story!!!
I couldn't put my kindle down and when i finished it, i wanted more and more of that!!!
And that epilogue...

I need to find out what will happen next!!!
K.A. you could do it and yeah, you did it!!!

Oh, my god!!! Carlo DeLuca is my new absolute obsession!!!

The best Boss Mafia that ever existed!!! I loved that guy!!!
I'm drooling for him!!! I want him for myself!!!
Pretty please?????

No??? That's fine!!!
Let Mia enjoy that hot piece of ass!!!

The story was a little kind of twisted...
It was brutal, full of revenge, full of adventures and it held you captivated!!!
Don't you worry!!! There was much of love, lust, loyalty and good moments too...

But the business were heavy and bad, full of suspense and unexpected moments!!!

Carlo was the Boss of his Familia and he had some rules about the members of this mafia family...
He had an oath, an Omerta, that when someone betrayed him, he was brutally taken his life and the lives of his family members... And Mia's father was a rat and he had to keep up with his oath...

But when he met the daughter of his traitor employer, he saw something in her that he couldn't ignore...
You see, Mia attacked to her own parents because they didn't try to protect her for all this mess and before all of this kind of life that she was leaving until then... She was scared of her father and dissapointed of her mother's willingly ignorance... She was mad at both of them...

Carlo took in all of this things and recognised to Mia something from himself...

"We’re kindred spirits, bound not by the blood in our veins but by the blood staining our hands.

So Carlo decided to take her under his wings and for the world she will become his sister...
Don't misunderstand him!!! It was the first time in his life that he wanted to do something good for another person!!! And he didn't want anything for exchange...
For God's sake, she was only seventen!!!

So, they started to live under the same roof as siblings!!!

“Come Mia, I’m not going to hurt you,” he said, holding out a hand.
“Said the wolf to the sheep,” I murmured and let him help me down...
Carlo chuckled and shook his head at my comment, “I have a feeling you’re more wolf than you think.”

The only bad thing in this arrangement was that they lusted for each other, but for a while they kept their distance!!! But what were gonna happen when they will decided to give in to the temptation???
You see, Carlo was a very dangerous and powerfull man. He had many enemies and his positions couldn't afford him to care for anyone else than himself.
But with Mia in his life, he will give a powerfull weapon to the hands of his enemies. A weapon that it surely can bring him on his knees...

So, what will he do with the feelings that boiling inside him wild and need satisfaction????
Will he give in in this gorgeous temptation in front of him???

Mia from the other hand is a very intelligent girl. She is strong, opinionated and she can do anything she wants...
Sometimes when her rage overpowering her, she scared the shit out of me. She was more determined and ruthless than Carlo himself...

Oh, God!!! The things she did!!! They amazed me and scared me at the same time, but that's the thing that i liked the most in this book.

It was like she were two persons in one body...
She was kind, lovely and compassionate, but when she was really angry she became reckless and brutal as hell.

I have read a lot of mob series, but usually the women stay beyond the action and the men did all the dirty work, but here there was the opposite but with a very fascinating way given...

I really liked that book... No liked, loved!!!
It will be one my favorite of 2015.
I loved Carlo and Mia and just can't get enough of them...

I also liked all the second characters... and especially Frankie!!!
And after that epilogue, i'm almost certain that the next book will focus on her and the two cousins!!!
Oh, no, don't pressure me!!! I can not reveal you nothing more!!!
I just can not wait about the next story!!!

well, I gotta say that this was an OK read, i liked it but it didn't knock me out...so...3.5 stars are in order

BR-ing with my Mafluts is always an awesome experience we just sometimes enter this DA FUNK state (Shan I totally stole your line, guuurl...LOL and i guess punishment is in order!)

This is the debut material from K.A.WARE and I applaud her for her bravery and dedication...it is bold to do this to open yourself to the public - expect for the best, prepare for the worst...

hell, this was a story not so different from many others on a similar subject...and we mafia lovers do not expect some miralculous new developments...cause hey, there isn't so much a mobster hasn't already seen, done or thought, right? here the story and the plot wasn't lacking in action and anticipation, the thing that was missing for me only, of course, was the "connection" between the two main characters Carlo and Mia - it was "insta" love or whatever you wanna call it and usually I have no problem with "insta" anything...it really depends on the further development of emotions in characters as individuals and towards each other...here i felt none...there was passion - YES, HELL YES, but there was no connection...they could have been strangers...and not two people who shared the roof together, who were anticipating the resolve of tention and suspence of a build up. BUT there is absolutely a room for development. I am positive it takes only little to do so....

What we are dealing with here are the "delicate" touches a particular and individual author already has or is about to develop....writing style, a recognizable code, a special mark that will separate him/her from other writers...so that one special thing can be claimed as unique and unreplacable....

this installment opens a new door for the story develpment...so as it happens...only skye is the limit...

Read the sample before you buy this absurdly ridiculous shit.

Dad is a rat. Mob boss tortures his ass and brings his wife and 17-yr-old daughter in to murder in front of him. Girl is spunky and hates the abusive dad and cheek-turning mom.

Late twenties mob boss changes plans because he is impressed w/ teen girl's killer attitude lol.

He shoots mom. She shoots dad.

^^ It's a little much to open with when there is no character development, but I'll give it a minute...

So, off they go back to his mansion. Her death will be faked and identity changed to become his SISTER, but she will get to keep one friend and all his inner circle will know she's not his sister since he doesn't and never has had a fucking sister.

^^^ Most absurd shit ever

DNF after sample.

This book was not what I was expecting..... in a good way. It had lots of mob business, but mostly Mia was a freaking psychopath. She killed people who deserved it, sure, but she just felt nothing when she did it. Or when she did, it was satisfaction at seeing them dead. I was waiting for Mia and Carlo to finally realize their feelings for one another and get it on and it was worth the wait!!! She was perfect for Carlo (the Boss), in a twisted way.

I liked the guy here.
I didn't in the beginning. The way the book started... WOW! What a BAD guy.
Eventually his character grew on me during the story. I liked the way he looked after her ;-)
On the other hand, the girl was a female psycho and it didn't add credibility in the story.

This author is new to me but I really liked her writing. I happened upon this title through a Kindle recommendation and I'm glad I one-clicked.

I'm not going to get into the plot, however, it was pretty good.

Here's why I docked a star: although the story moved fluidly (for the most part), I felt like someone was trying to convince me that the characters were "straight gangsta". Don't get me wrong, they went in hard, but it wasn't realistic enough. For instance, how did Mia, who for all intents and purposes never even held a gun, become a master marksman? Headshots???!!! There was NO mention of target practice!! Sooooooooo... She's an idiot savant?!

Mia's character was a little OTT yet I really liked her. She came off cold-hearted and loving. Go figure. Carlo was hot and I enjoyed every minute of his POV, even if it didn't seem very Don-like. I think he didn't watch enough of the Godfather. Anyway, my favourite part of the book, aside from the killing and stuff, was when Mia and Carlo figured out that their attraction is mutual. Hi-lar-i-ous!

Enjoy! xo

Far-fetched ridiculous completely unbelievable but entertaining 3.5 to 4 stars

In this book we have a hot handsome ruthless Mafia boss and a woman who's his equal in every way but it's crazy far-fetched and totally unbelievable, if you want to escape for a while into the world of organised crime with lots of hot sex and a few dead bodies along the way then is could be just what you're looking for.

Carlo DeLuca is the head of a crime syndicate, he's learnt the hard way to be uncompromising and not to trust so when he discovers a rat in his organisation he acts fast and ruthlessly.
This book starts with Carlo torturing Gino who's betrayed him by giving secrets to the Russians. He warned all the men when he took over what would happen if any of them betrayed him, it wouldn't just be them he killed but their entire family as well but when Gino's wife and daughter Mia are brought in Carlo sees something in Mia, there's something about her and Carlo realises that he doesn't want to kill her and so a solution is reached.
Mia becomes a DeLuca and as far as people are concerned she's his sister and Carlo provides everything she could possibly need but it's more than that, there's a growing attraction between them which both of them try to fight.
This is a great little read I've been looking for something like this for a while now and I've already downloaded the next book 'Vendetta' which features Frankie and Enzo.

I’m a sucker for mafia romances, so when Omerta showed up on my news feed a few days ago on sale, I was intrigued and grabbed it, and I’m so glad I did.

Omerta is full of blood, revenge, and power struggles, but it also is an amazing love story as well. Mia and Carlo may not have met under the best of circumstances, and their relationship may have changed throughout the years, but anyone around them knew that they were going to end up together and the lie that Carlo put together to keep Mia safe was going to blow up in their faces.

One thing I really enjoyed about this story was how strong Mia was. This girl wasn’t dealt the easiest hand in life with her parents, and instead of letting it make her weak, she let it make her stronger. As things continued to try to bring her down in life, they only pushed to make her stronger. Everyone who seemed to come across her seemed to think she couldn’t handle things and she proved them wrong time and time again. She may have been young, but the amount of things she has gone through and dealt with in this book are more than anyone should ever have to deal with. Watching her grow in this book was absolutely amazing and I loved watching her grow into an even more confident woman and a take charge kind of girl in this book.

Carlo on the other hand was always a solitary man, in charge of the mafia and never let anyone get close, until Mia showed up in his life. He fought hard to not let her in, but she slowly broke down his walls, and I loved watching how much Mia changed him. He was still cold and calculated when it came to business, but seeing him be fun and banter with her was beautiful and watching them have fun when things weren’t so serious was a great addition to this book when sometimes things could get dark.

This story was a great start to what I think is going to be an amazing series. There was definitely a lot of blood and revenge, and both of these characters grew tremendously in this book. Watching them become so close and seeing how powerful they are when they are together was awesome to see. Watching Mia take charge when she had too, and watching them start to grow as a couple made me want to see where they go as well as where this mafia family goes in the future. I have already one-clicked the next book to see what happens next!

If you’re a lover of mafia themed books, or like a little bit of darker romance, then definitely pick up Omerta by K.A. Ware today!

This is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking to read more from her. It’s hard to imagine this is her first book. She clearly has a talent and I’m so excited with what else is to come from this amazing author. The writing is rich and intelligent, and the characters are well developed without being overdone. Many times, in mafia or romance books we get lots of steamy sex with a storyline that's lacking, but not here and this is the author Debut!! GIVE the girl her KUDOS!!!! Carlos was a dark and dangerous man in the beginning, however; he became a weakling and under Mia control. I would have like to see him continue to be strong and all alpha-male but that didn't take anything away from the story. Mia was shy, silent and defenseless in the beginning then turn into a bada** woman on a mission afterward. She had a terrific life before moving in with Carlos and it all changed over night. This story was different and great full of drama, betrayal and action which starts at the beginning of the story until the very end. I will be looking forward to the next book. CONGRATULATION!!!!!!

OMG I have had this book on my kindle for a while did not read it.

This is one of the best mafia books I have read in a while. Mia is bad-ass from day 1. I loved her style and how she handled herself. I really enjoyed her and Carlo's relationship. I was hooked and engrossed right to the first page, the story is fast moving and totally engaging. I definitely want to read more from this author. I am going to read book 3 right now.

Definitely worth a read if you love mafia stories.

What a ride.

In this story we have an older mafia leader and a 17 year old that meet in the most unusual way. Take about anger issues - Mia takes things to a whole new level! Without consciously thinking about it, Mia sets herself up for the life she's meant to live and thrive in. What does this have to do with Carlo? Guess you need to read it to find out.

While I did like the characters, I didn't love them. I love an alpha man that is someone else when with his woman and I just didn't get the "feels" over Carlo's character. Overall I enjoyed the story and with the ending teaser - yeah I'm reading the next book!

Missing something

As far a mob romance books go this was good. Feel like it was a little rushed. Mia was a good character. She didn't play a usually mob girl, but was the one who played the mobster

But when he looked into a of pair amber eyes and saw a fire that rivaled his own, he knew nothing would be the same again.

The story was so far fetched I barely finished. I had to double check and make sure the genre wasn't "fantasy'.
So Mia's dad snitches and Carlo being the boss and all has to kill her dad, her mom and her, but ends up letting her live. Not only does he do that, he takes her home the same night, hands her a credit card with unlimited funds, provides her a roof, and has her change her last name to match his. Now, I have read hundreds of mafia stories, nowhere and I a mean nowhere would this happen. Like come on? All my daddy has to do is snitch and I get the life I always wanted.
I didn't like Mia, not only is she weird, spoiled and just a bitch she is mouthy as shit. Who talks like that to the guy that runs the mafia? NOONE!

5 Psyco-bitch stars!

I loved it. I wanted a mafia book with a fearless and strong heroine and i got it. She was deffinitely psyco and i loved it!
She was a sheep's in wolf clothing. A contrast,so calm one moment and crazy the next. She was one of my fav mafia heroines.

The hero, beyond his hotness was as ruthless as her and i loved how she was the only one privy to his soft side. Their connection was amazingly written and i loved how it had nothing to do with insta-lust or insta-love just him seeing something in her. The progression of their story was perfect to me. My fav moment was when they finally understood they liked one another,it was funny as hell and deffinitely HOT!

Action packed,gritty and panty melting!

Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this one! Although to be fair I have a weakness for all things Mafia.

I love Mia's character she was not the typical h you see in these books, she held her own with Carlo and their men.

I have to admit that you have to leave your reality at the door but then is is a Mafia romance and while it is a bit twisted and obviously their are situations that are not fully realistic, however, that never took me away from the story so it worked for me.
I didn't feel like it was too dark, some might have issues with what Mia does.. me.. I was loving the awesomeness of Mia when she was getting just as dirty as other Mafia H's do!! Don't piss her off!

awesome !!

I love mafia books.. they are just so hot and alpha ... something about bad boys lol

ok so the only thing I wasn't keen on is how far mia's ruthless went. she just seemed to be getting worse with the killings. I didn't blame her the first few times but towards the end just seemed too much. and that ending !? Come on !! Just kinda ends. I wanted more. :-(

take it the next book will be about Francesca but I still want more on mia

Wow, this book was a rollercoaster. Great romance with a fabulous protagonist. I loved reading Mia's journey from timid high school student to badass Mafia Princess. Carlo is a fabulous hero, but, boy, does he have his hands full with Mia. That poor man doesn't know what he's gotten into. The love scenes are hot, but, I gotta warn you, the body count is not low in this book. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, right? Great romantic suspense.

DNF @60%. No just no. I tried. I really tried. I love Mafia books but this absolutely did not work for me. Between the writing style, the relationship of the 2 main characters at the beginning of the book, being unable to believe that the TSTL heroine is such a badass, the stupid seduction games, etc. I just could not go any further.
Now other people have liked this novel, so you can always give it a go and you may enjoy it, but I just could not stomach another 40%.

A great Mafia story

This story is twisted, brutal and seriously deranged hahaha and I absolutely fucking loved it. The characters have great depth and built up well during the course of this story, I was even invested in the secondary characters and can't wait to read more from this author.
