The title is taken from one of Dunn's most famous paintings -- a woman and her two daughters gathering prairie flowers. The artist's original name for the painting was, This, My Garden. Dunn is known for his paintings of prairie life in the Dakotas where he grew up. This book serves as a biography and a collection of mostly black and white prints of his art, though does include 4 color prints in a folder at the back of the book.
This is a good intro to Dunn's life and work. It tells his life story without much analysis or depth, but the author says in the intro that this is a first go at a biography of him and surely later authors will have more. I found it interesting to get the overview of his life & especially see the WWI drawings he did as a Capt. in the AEF. I didn't know anything about this aspect of his life and they were quite powerful.
