I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

4.5/5 Stars
For Mature Audiences Only!!

Summary:
This book starts when a very successful business man runs into a gorgeous woman at a deli. Chloe is a hairdresser by day and also a talented musician who has a scared past. She was in a car accident that killed her husband and child a few years back. She just tries to make it thru her daily life without constantly dwelling on that horrid night.

Dislikes:
Sometimes I felt like things escalated into the frisky scenes a bit too early but I maybe a harsh judge there because I am definitely not use to this type of book.

Likes:
Jax. Jax. Jax! He is heavenly and who wouldn't be in love with him? The story and some of the plot twists, even though I saw some of them coming were very fitting to the story. This made my heart ache but also made me weak at the knees.

Overall:
I really loved the book and the emotions that it brought to the table. I fell in love with all the characters, Thornton has a beautiful mind for character creation and makes me wish Penny and the family was part of my own. The love, the scars and the growth in this book blow a person away. I highly recommend this book if you are mature enough to handle the content.

Thank you again for letting me read this Ms. Thornton. I am eternally grateful. <3

I received this copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Let's go :D

The Story

Jax Levi is a hell of a successful man. With a golden gut for business, Jax has earned heavy money since his early adulthood. The only thing he never found was true love.

Until watching this wonderful woman ordering at the same deli that he was having his lunch.

Chloe Nespoli is a jaded woman. After the tragedy that took both her husband and son, Chloe knew that a piece of her soul was taken from her as well. She had been managing herself quite well on the last years, picking up her scattered pieces one by one.

Until she crosses paths with Jax Levi, the walking figure of sex and temptation.

Their connection is instantaneous and undeniable, but soon enough both Jax and Chloe realize that sex is not the answer to all the unspoken questions and ghosts from their pasts.

The Analysis
Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)

I started this book with highly expectations, as my lovely friend Lindsey loved The Answer to her bones and she’s not usually one to enjoy romances. D. M. Thornton was kind enough to send me a copy for this review and I’m deeply thankful. However, The Answer didn’t swept me off my feet as I expected it would. Whereas it is a wonderful story about healing through love and personal growth, I wasn’t impressed or the correct audience for it. It kept me pinned to know how it all would end until the last page, but rather for not knowing what was Thornton’s point with it. Overall, a three stars book :)

The narrative was third person styled with switching points of view between Jax and Chloe, which I found great <3 Thornton’s writing style is sensible and involving, pure art. It is one of the strongest points in The Answer, along with character constructions, but we will get there, haha!

The plot was basically were the book lost stars with me. Lacking boy meets broken girl, they hit it off and heal each other. It is adorable, but in a month’s time. I was highly bothered by how fast they got intimately involved, especially given Chloe’s background. On the second day of acquaintanceship, they already acted as a 20 year married couple :( Also, I don’t see the need for so many sex scenes. Of course, some are very important for the story, as Chloe has insecurities regarding her body and Jax wants to teach her that she is beautiful even with her flaws – physical or mental. But honestly, I would be cool without half of the scenes.

The good side is that Thornton tied all up very well in the end. I really liked the point which she decided to stop the story <3 I wish I could say more, but no spoilers ;)

The characters were a blast. I have to pick favorites, as Chloe was brilliant. Of course that sometimes I wanted to hit her with a baseball bat, but it’s part of the book friends thing, haha! Chloe has OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) and Thornton’s description and portrait of her case made me want to hug Chloe and assure her everything was okay. In my early teenage years, I was diagnosed with a light case of OCD. It would only surface under severe pressure and stress or depression, so I never had to deal with it on a daily basis. I admire Chloe’s strength in a fashion that I can’t even put into words.

I can’t say the same about Jax. I disliked him since the beginning and it didn’t get better. I don’t like forceful males in any way of the word and he didn’t have the minimal sense of borderlines and limits. He can be beautiful as hell and sin very far away from me. However, I do recognize that he was very good for Chloe and was there for here every time she needed him. He was supportive, caring and loving, healing her.

Nevertheless, even having my problems with Jax, I have to admit that he was incredibly well built as a character, as everyone in the book. They were real, for good and bad. The strength, the weakness, everything!

Bonus point: can we just stop everything and talk about this cover, please? So awesomely beautiful *–* It is one of my favorites among my ebook collection <3

Overall, this is a great contemporary romance. If you like bossy males, sassy females, hot sex and characters to keep in your heart, give a try to The Answer :)

That’s it, thanks for reading! Thank you again to D. M. Thornton for trusting me with your work <3

I see a pattern in Thornton's books, they all seem to be incredibly fast paced. They also have hot sex scenes that may not be for the faint of heart. I found this very easy to read and I found it very easy to connect with Chloe. I always like a book more if I connect with a character and I definitely understand anxiety.

Chloe is a hairdresser by day and a singer by night-Well nights that she can get a slot at a local bar that is. Jax is a rich bachelor living the single life until the day he lays eyes on Chloe at a deli. Then he spots her again one night that she is singing at a bar. She has a past that would make most people crumble but she stands strong and he wants to be apart of her life. She fights it at first but eventually gives in to the rich guy that is now running her life.

I liked Chloe, like I said the things that she went through were awful and she was amazing for pushing through with life. I don't think I would be as strong as she was if I had gone through even half of that. So of course she got anxiety and ocd from all of that shit. Jax helped her deal fairly well, I thought.

Jax, ugh Jax. I'm not going to lie I didn't like him at first. I thought he was a creeper and I hated the way he spoke to her. It also annoyed me that he kept telling her to watch her language but he could say what he wanted. He won me over in the end though and I guess that's all that matters. I thought he was perfect for Chloe and really helped her feel sexy in her own skin. Which is a very important thing.

I do have to say that I thought their sex life escalated too quickly. As emotionally damaged as Chloe was I felt like it would take her longer to be able to get to the point of having sex but nope she just went for it. Though I can see how going without sex for that long would make you want to jump on anyone and a hot, rich man-it could be worse. I did not see that playroom coming at all but I should have because come on he's Jax.

There's a new contemporary romance author in town, and she's good...really good!

First off, the writing style was great. The characters were very relatable and easy to connect with, which is very important to me.

While I usually prefer a little paranormal or fantasy to go with my romance, I really enjoyed Jax & Chloe's story. And their romance was sizzling & smexy, to say the least!

And where can I get my own Jax Levi???

If you like your romance reads HOT, I suggest you pick up a copy of The Answer, stat!

I couldn’t put this down. Mesmerizing, captivating, engagingly raw. The emotions running thru this story grip your heart and leave you wanting more. You feel the pain and anguish from both families. So very well written.

Best Quote: sorry but didn’t see any good quotes

Worst Quote: “Blowjobs were not Chloe’s favourite thing to do, but something about this man made her want to do things she’d never even tried before” – (so did she or did she not ever give a BJ before? Strange considering she was married for 7 years to her now deceased husband!)

Personal Review:
The premise sounded so good and I was excited about this book but I was sadly disappointed.

So we have a rich H who falls in lust with the h at first sight and goes on to molest her within 24 hours of meeting her (and the h had to say ‘no’ several times). I understand the ‘anti-hero’, ‘possessive’, ‘controlling’ and ‘overprotective’ themes that are becoming increasingly common in romances but there is a difference between a jerk-hero and an anti-hero. Jax is veering more towards jerk-hero for me.

The h has gone through some horrible stuff…which she tells H within 24 hours of meeting. Felt a little rushed because how many people tell someone they have just met about their horrible past? Maybe it’s just me and I am more private so I can never, in a million years, tell strangers my past. Oh, and then the h and H immediately have sex. Hmm…I never thought that talking about your husband’s and children’s death would be a ‘turn on’?!

I did like how the h DID say ‘no’ and didn’t just immediately ‘melt’ for the H and she was quick to scold H on his ‘bossiness’ although this didn’t last very long

DNF

Random Ramblings:
It was a little disconcerting how forward Jax was with Chloe at the beginning, to the point that I was getting odd vibes

HATE the H constantly referring to the h as ‘babe’

The OCD twist was interesting as a concept but it did not make a difference in me liking the h any more

Overall Feeling:
Befuddled

Read it! The Answer is a sweet and passionate love story that blends instalove and lust with a deep connection that was truly meant to be. Chloe had lost so much. She seemed to have accepted that her happiness had perished in the van with Reid and Elliot. Enter Jax. More than a wee bit full of himself and 110% sweet and adorable. It was as if his dating life had been a trial run until he met Chloe. Instantly, he was a changed man. I loved her OCD and how he didn't bother trying to fight her on it. I enjoyed the impromptu trip to Vegas. I didn't mind his secrets. I wanted him to come clean with everything, but I understood his hesitation. Probably the only thing I didn't like was the seven months. They missed too much during that time. Oooh, and the tingles and breeze and Walter made me cry - I loved those additions to the story! I was quickly absorbed into this book and was quite content with my stay.

I am beginning to put D M Thornton onto my must be read list I have now read a few of her books and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed
The answer is another great read that had me enthralled this is a fast paced book where the characters interaction is what makes the story so special Chloe is a hairdresser by day a singer by night she wears not only physical but mental scars from a accident where she lost her husband and son. Jax is a rich man who leads the perfect bachelor life he first sees Chloe in a local deli then sees her again when she is singing at a bar and he wants her. He has a darker side but nothing that will damage Chloe in fact he could be the saving of her.

I just loved this book not only was it a hot and steamy read it had a good interesting storyline. I really liked Chloe she has been through hell and I was not sure how she was still standing such a strong woman. When Jax see's her he just knows he wants to be part of her life but I have to admit I did not think much of him to begin with and really did not like the way he spoke to her at times but he does help her and he did grow on me. I cannot wait for more from this author a super read I just loved it

This is a well written insta love romance between Chloe and Jax. Their characters are strong but flawed and real. They have a strong connection and hot chemistry. The story is very believable , filled with twists and turns , heartache and love. I enjoyed watching their love grow. The story moves quickly and smoothly and had me hooked from start to finish. Highly recommend reading.

Jax and Chloe made me cry the way their lives entwined before they even met and the emotional upheaval that Chloe had struggled with on her own until Jax came into her life and set about breaking down her barriers and letting her love again. Emotional tearful happy read.

It’s gonna be a bit harsh but this story is too predictable. Also Chloe is not really consistent with her ocd. In my opinion the story need more work.

Well written with two great characters, this was a wonderful story. The scenes were hot and steamy. While the story wrapped around their attraction, it became very apparent that there was more to his story than she thought. The reveal was unbelievable. Good story.

Like the author states in their dedication, it really is a book for all the girls "who just needed one more book about love and sex".

This book is a tame 50 Shades of Grey, with a bit of Sylvia Day's Crossfire series. The couple in the book lock eyes, fall head over heels for each other within a matter of minutes, and begin a fiery and raw love affair. Drama and passion are all this book has, and while it is well written, you cannot help but compare it to all the other books like this that are out there.

I still give it 4 stars because these are the kind of stories I like. The sexual writing had it's lame moments, as do they all, but the love story between Jax and Chloe is sweet and powerful. Their backstories are just as intense and I love that Chloe has OCD tendencies - always reading about perfect characters all the time was getting annoying; it was refreshing to see! Great job.

This story had a heartbreaking storyline but also a very sweet ending, I liked the characters but being truly honest found it too long, the start was fine the the middle seemed to go on way too long, (although I did like the Maggie meeting in the loo) the last part of the book flowed much better and most of the story was there and the ending was really lovely high is where my 4 stars came from 😊
