Keep an Ace in the Hole

Rate this book
Grim's a simple supervillain. Do the job, get paid, go home and drink beer; it's a formula that works for him. But when a heist gets messy, he ends up having to deal with an unexpected guest and old memories of better times. His regeneration can mend any physical wound, but nostalgia leaves scars that never heal...This is a short story from the "Tales from the Teslaverse" project. More to come, later.

Okay, it's official! I love Andrew Seiple with unholy love and everything he writes is gold! Seriously, all of his stuff is great and I'm suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper looking forward to the sequel of Dire: Born. Really love how the characters are so well-written and I immediately dive into being attached to them. Grim is awesome!

Based in the Dire universe it shows some of the horrors that came about as a result of the hero programme during WW2. Grim is older, full of memories of the past, constant pain and not willing to hurt others for the sake of it. He is one of the good villains just trying to find a way to fix his healing abilities and speed them up again by earning the money one crime at a time. It is a show of respect, determination, chaotic healing and some characters that come in occasionally to fight against Dire. A great little side story and I hope we see more of Grim in the main series and he still keeps playing the cards he has.
