"-There are others things to learn about besides the sky. -Like the ocean and the mountains? -Others things that don't have form. That should be what you seek out and feel right now. Your home is not this place. I'm praying you'll be able to live in freedom. You can decide for yourself where you belong. ".
honestly I'd give.this manga more than 5 stars for that blood lust scene alone let alone the whole damn this I'M TOO IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES. SEND HALP.
I enjoyed this one a lot more, maybe because it appealed to my interests and expectations more? Aha. Well, we got a long (and tantalizing!) romance scene with Tsukasa and Anzai that had me turned on along with probably nearly every other reader. (I NEED MORE, GODDAMNIT) Not only that, but some stuff brought back pleasant dusty memories from my last relationship. So many good memories to dwell on, honestly. Ooh, and Anzai's mother sees him, we get to see more about Anzai's dad too and how his mother is faring/coping with this whole scenario. Oh, and I've mentioned it before but this is still following the same formula, it just goes in different orders to switch it up I guess. BUT we got something extra this time. An extended flashback, into Sawazaki's past. I had really hoped his friend wouldn't meet the end that he did... It's so tragic, I liked him a lot, and I feel bad for all three involved. Also, seems Hans Lee was always meant to be one of the main three, eh? He doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and we keep learning more and more about him. I like him a lot, especially the more I understand him. He's honestly a little bit inspiring, even though he's starting from the ground up. Or perhaps that's what's so endearing about him in the first place. His friend is a cutie too. Oooh, and we got a new leader... He's definitely a bad guy. But why do they call him "Jason" as his codename? How strange, how odd. And he seems so trustworthy, so why... How is he "leading them down the path" that you'd think should throw them off? So far, he's been spot on. Huhm... Well, as per usual, I think my favorite part were the intense moments shared between our power couple. I'm glad Anzai's mother got to see them together and cheer them on. I think it gave her hope and happiness, but sadness that she couldn't hold him nor that her husband could be there... Oh... And I wonder... Is he just perpetually transformed, always? Or did we see him transformed because he wanted his hands on his wife SO badly? I want to believe that latter, so I will. I think they still have strong bonds and strong love, I bet she's even part of the reason he's locked up instead of dead, after murdering three people on a rampage. He said he wants to hold her and their son... I hope they can become a happy family someday. With Tsukasa too, and maybe a new little baby. Eventually, right? Here's to dreaming. P.S. Just please have sex already goddamnit and make sure to show it after blue balling us this much!!

Did I literally just buy the manga the day of its release in France???? .......yes...... bUT LISTEN OH MY GOD THE SCENE BETWEEN YUKI AND TSUKASA; AND THE END WHAT THE FUCK LISTEN HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR THE SIXTH ONE???? ESPECIALLY WITH NO DATE OF RELEASE IM CRYING
It’s safe to say that I don’t know what is going on or who is who. There are so many characters, both returning and newly introduced, and quite remarkably they are all distinctly drawn, but I can hardly put a name to a face apart from the protagonist and the main love interest. It’s hard to hold all the names straight in your head and the plot demands you do so as it’s very intricate and elaborate in the discussions of the characters about the other characters.
For those who can get their head around the who of them all then there’s a very good story here and a steady mystery building on the part events of the previous volumes. But if you’re as terrible as I am with names and faces then it’s probably best to quit whilst your ahead because the greatness of the plot will likely be lost on you.
Things I liked: Anzai getting more used to his blood training. Jill (Miss Lloyd) has a little more emotion in this one which I love. I'm shipping her and Sawazaki. I'm not sorry about it lmao also, we see Anzai's parents W H A T. Yes.
Things I disliked: It was too short (plot wise) not a lot of things happen besides the main convention, Sawazaki's background into the devil issue, and the blood letting between Tsukasa and Anzai. There were a LOT of characters going on in this one. I need a little sheet with me when reading, lol. This is probably not an issue if you're watching the anime but in manga form it gets hard to keep track of.
Also kind of love how evil looking Kikuhara looks. He just looks so intimidating and creepy looking. Idk, maybe he has redeeming qualities! 😂

1. Anzai’s father is still alive?? In the anime they made it seem like he was dead! I wasn’t expecting that.
2. Protect Lee at all costs!!!!
3. I love how the old doctor told Anzai “I have training that can help you learn how to resist your transformation”, and the training is just… making out with his girlfriend😂
4. We have a canonically lesbian character!! I don’t care if she’s just a side or background character, it’s already a big step

The cover may say 13+ but it needs an M rating. That said, the story continues to get more interesting and a new character will leave you guessing whether he's friend or foe. I'm still not really into the romance. The characters still know almost nothing about each other but things are already getting hot and heavy. I'm not saying that's completely unrealistic, it's just not very interesting to me.
Now we're entering the volumes where new content not seen in the anime appear, mixed in with stuff that was animated. They really did try to push as many highlights, fast as possible, into the 12 ish episodes, while leaving behind some worldbuilding and exposition. (I know, dreaded word, but this time it really does work!) We also got some backstory for one of the secondary characters, and that makes him much more interesting; probably going to be a bigger player going forward. And also key moments of communication and moving forward for the main pair. <3
I think the next volume will also be a mix of old and new info (for me), before we got to manga only content. But I'm ready!
I love this series so much! I am addicted and total trash for this series. My only complaint is that there are so many characters to keep track of. Volume 6 has a character chart that comes in handy.
Andddddd the plot thickens. I adore anzai and his relationship. This series really fucking good in my opinion. It’s like Tokyo ghoul with romance and set after ghouls would be outed completely. I can’t wait for more.
I've been binge reading this series for the past couple of days. This volume is by far my favorite. At this point in the story you know and handful of the characters background, and the plot itself is going into detail. I gave this one five stars because this volume was a page turner for me. Now to talk about the things I don't like in the series.... and to get into details....
SPOILER:
There is not much to know about the female lead. They don't talk about her family life or her activities in school. You don't really hear much about this past VOL#1 except when she speaks to her friend. Her friend texts and calls a few times and her mother emailed her once. Its explained that her mother doesn't really keep up with the news, so that part makes sense. There is also a lot going on in her life right now where the other characters feel it best that she stay with them. If I were missing classes as a college student in a Japanese education system I would be trying to keep up with my studies in between or drop out. I feel like the author just kind of mentioned it to make sense of it and left it be. I would mention that the male lead doesn't have to much of a background attached to him either. Although it seems like more details on that are starting to unravel. My biggest problem with this is that I feel like I know more about some of the side characters more than I do the main ones.
I also feel like the story is a bit all over the place. For a while there it was jumping between the past and the present and some of the characters look the same so at a point it was hard to distinguish. I wish the illustrator/author invested more time in physical character development and gave them more distinguished features.
Devils' Line, Vol. 5 is pure intensity from start to finish. The emotional weight, the action, the growing tension between humans and devils—it all escalates so perfectly. The deeper we go into this world, the more complex and heart-wrenching things get, especially as Anzai continues to struggle with his identity and control. His development in this volume? Chef’s kiss. And Tsukasa? She’s proving more and more that she’s not just a damsel in distress—her strength and loyalty to Anzai make their relationship feel so real.
The plot thickens with more political intrigue and dangerous power plays, and the pacing is on point—there’s never a dull moment. The artwork keeps delivering those raw, emotional expressions that hit hard, making every scene feel that much more intense. If you’ve been loving this series, Vol. 5 will not disappoint. Five stars—this series just keeps getting better and better, and I am so ready for what comes next!
I think the fact this is trying to be two genres is interesting yet it hinders it at points. Being a police precaudal is interesting enough but it has a lot of scenes of characters talking about what they will do and how to do it, instead of just showing it. And while I appreciate it taking a more grounded and adult stance it can be a bit boring at points. Doesn't help there's a TON of characters and it can feel overwhelming.
Saying that I can't help but be interested in all the characters I do like. I love Taira and Anzai. They're super cute together and their "almost" sex time was hot no lie. I also really enjoyed the twist with someone's mother, super intrigued with that. As always too the art is fantastic and worth viewing each page.
Wow, things have really heated up and I am not just talking about Anzai's body temp. We also get a glimpse of his mother- who wants to bar sex between humans and devils. She is a part of the Redeyes' Rights Protection Committee. And ONLO is there as well.
What else is in this volume? Lee's flashbacks are coming strong. (love him for being a book nerd) as well as a history on f Squad and how there's a new leader-Ishimaru. And he no good for sure. Can only imagine what his plans are for future volumes.
The chemistry between Anzai and Tsukasa is adorable and building. Prominence in the force is showing its cracks and most of all, the orphanage where Anazi grew up is slowly revealing itself (nice artwork I must say).
This series continues to hold strong for me. In this volume, we meet new characters who are adding new perspectives to the story. We also gain more insight to other more secondary characters and past experiences that have helped navigate their choices.
Anzai and Tsukasa continue to explore and push new boundaries in their relationship. Devil/human relationships are fairly unexplored territory as it is known to be extremely dangerous for the human participant. The risks they continue to take in order to remain in each other's lives continues to feed the romance addicted goblin in my brain.
We finally get to see Yuuki's parents! Sawazaki gets a backstory chapter! Taira and Yuuki are back together and attempt some devil/human couple's therapy~
But then the looming threat of the CCC returns as Sawazaki is ousted as leader of F-Squad and replaced by a guy named Ishimaru who was recommended by Kikuhara (CCC's Zero-Two). We also get a new team member, Sawazaki's former partner Asami. But now that it's know that CCC members have infiltrated the police, not everyone is completely onboard with the staff changes.
So far, I like Ishimaru, but I don't know if I trust him yet.
So far I find the premise of this series pretty interesting. But the dialogue between the two main love interests is painfully irritating. The chemistry feels more like it’s just missing the mark. I wish it would have had a little more to it, or something that flows a bit better before throwing them into an intimate setting that’s incredibly awkward and choppy. How the author set it up definitely had potential, but poor execution overall. That being said the investigation and the info we learn about CCC is interesting.
This one was so far my favourite volume of Devils Line. I'm glad i finally got around to reading this volume. Devils Line is a manga i really want to get back to. Also i loveee this cover! Anzai looks so badass! I really liked this volume especially since we now know that Anzai's dad is still alive like holy dang i did not saw that coning! I had to reread that part twice but dang! I hope so hope for a meetup with Anzai, his dad and mom! Please make this happen in the near future!
Just goes to show, you can write the raunchiest smut going and it can make me completely zone out and be unaffected and on the flip someone can write about a vague vampire boner and I feel my face turn red and I need a break...
5 blushing readers out of 5 impending vampire sex scenes
Revisiting the manga after 5ish(?) years. Every thing about it is right up my alley. Supernatural-esque, “bad boy”/“dark” type male character, a bit of romance, a bit of violence.
This volume felt like a coasting point, nothing too exciting happening other than more set up. They keep teasing with just bits and pieces of backgrounds, hoping they keep that up steadily.
