The Alpha's Choice

Rate this book
Bridenapping? That ancient tradition where an Alpha grabs a human woman and brings her back to his pack to dominate and pleasure her? It’s all the rage now. Models and movie stars are vying to be bridenapped, and there’s nobody more sought after than handsome Alpha Jarrod Shaw of the Magister Pack.
Jarrod’s been ordered to bridenap a wealthy socialite – but Jarrod’s as Alpha as they come, and he’s never been one to take orders. He’s got his eye on shy, chubby Mary Farraday, the secretary for Mated And Matched. When the bridenapping goes wrong, all hell breaks loose, because the Magister Pack is hiding the darkest of secrets. Soon Mary finds she can't tell the difference between her closest allies and her most bitter enemies, and if she can't figure it out before the full moon, she may lose both her love – and her life.

Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).

When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.

I really liked the first book in this duet. This one though was quite lacking in the romance department. Mary the heroine was just too weak of a character for me, she allowed her sister to bully her all of her life, and she didn’t believe that Jarrod bridenapping her was real. All in all she was annoying. I didn’t get how Jarrod was an alpha in waiting, just because he wasn’t mated. Those were not the rules in the first book. Jarrod’s uncle who was alpha till Jarrod mated couldn’t be the true alpha because he was he had a limp. Seriously? How was he able to rule the pack for 20 years then that didn’t make sense. Overall too little romance, loads and loads of loose ends. This was no way up to the standard of the first book.

Wanted to like the story so much more but it fell short

The idea of the story was a good one but it just fell short. The main character Mary throughout I don't know maybe 90% of the book she refused to believe that the Alpha Jarrod was really in love with her and really wanted to marry her, she allowed her sister to bully her her whole life even after she found out the truth there was no confrontation there was, no closure on the situation between her and her sister and her mother. They never mentioned any type of closure on this company in Europe that was supplying them with babies how did they even get shifter sperm for the making of these babies is this happening in any other packs, were they in on this deceit. There were just so many loose ends to the story and I really really wanted to like it but I just couldn't really fall in love with these characters. Jarrod wasn't really being a good alpha how is it that you are Regent Alpha which means an alpha in training or Alpha next in line and you aren't paying attention to what's happening in your pack you aren't listening to any of the concerns that the women are having, you didn't question why the maternity ward was not connected to the original hospital, why it was so far away in the woods and being guarded why men weren't allowed inside to be with their mates while they're giving birth, he didn't question why before his uncle took over the pack why this was never a rule about the mage having to bless the child or why the mage had to take the child away from the parents for an hour I just feel like if you are an alpha and you're going to be taking over your pad you are so proud of you would pay more attention to them instead of just saying oh well we can't do anything about this right now so let's go have dinner and have sex seems like the priorities were completely off and all the women didn't have a backbone why wouldn't you stand up end make a big fuss about how this is not your child just a lot of unanswered questions in weak willed characters I just don't understand very very disappointed

The last place Mary wanted to be was helping arrange Alpha Jarrod Shaw's bridenapping. Bridenapping is all the rage now, and Mary is an assitant for Mated and Matched who organizes the paparazzi and the potential mates for their bridenapping. Jarrod was her high school sweetheart, but he betrayed her and made a joke of what she thought was true love.

There is a lot about the past that Mary doesn't know, but the one big thing is Jarrod is bridenapping her. Mary freaks out thinking this is all a facade to butt heads with his uncle, who is the current Alpha but she couldn't be more wrong. Jarrod spends his time wooing Mary but as the date of their mating takes place, secrets are revealed that will shake everything up.

The beginning was very similar to the first book but than it changed course. I liked this couple, Jarrod holds a big secret and Mary has been treated unfairly. You are rooting for this two from beginning to end.

Unexpected future

I love this author’s over the top alpha males who will resort to anything to end up with their lady love. This book has so much going on underneath the romance that I couldn’t put it down until the very end. I enjoyed how all of the characters became more than they were when they worked together and supported each other. And the way they solved the case, with help from some unexpected corners. This author does such an amazing job with her characters and her storylines. I am looking forward to reading the next book from her library.

Ms. St. Clair is an author I just one click as soon as I hear she posts on FB that her new one went live. I like the characters she writes. The females I can relate to, the men are believable, and the humor goes great with the dramatic tension. I enjoyed this story. It's the second in the Bridenapped series, but it's a stand alone. You don't need to have read the first one to enjoy this one.

I really had a hard time with this one.

There was sooo much going on. Baby napping/swapping like that pod people movie. Betrayal from all avenues like a crazy free for all. Wittiness that had me rolling all over the place. And a delusionally sweet MMC that made me want to puke at the fakeness of it! I don’t want to tell the whole story in this review as I break down all my issues but suffice it to saying I was throughly entertained while disliking the lies.

I dislike the idea of a second chance romance when the MMC is a mane h o r e, or when he never goes after the FMC. She conveniently happens to come back into his life and then he’s all like “well since she’s back I guess I’ll get her back now”. I HATE that plot line. If they really cared at all they wouldn’t have wasted years being community d i c k with every other random chick that they had around them or living their life like the FMC wasn’t important enough to fight for to begin with. Still, in this instance it can almost be forgiven since he sort of had reasons that were protecting the FMC. Again key words “almost” and “sort of”, make it hard to let go.

The easy resolution and HEA of the town babies plot was good but not deep enough to satisfy me. It was never mentioned about the lost babies parents being told about it or their having to deal with that horrible news. The emotional crisis was mentioned but just not enough considering the gravity of that plot line. And it’s sort of weird to have basically one “engineered/enhanced” child and one “natural” one. People will always have that in their minds and it would cause long term issues. Anyway, I would have loved more on this in this book or the next. It was quite gripping.

I liked this book. I couldn’t put it down. It will stay in my mind probably forever. I may reread it again and that’s my best accolade for the definition of a good book. I just felt some things were not resolved enough. Also this author writes delusionally charming male leads that piss me off because they are so unrealistic and I wish that they were. Lol. I clearly have issues. Lol.

It's what you would expect

The female character development is the most interesting aspect of this book. The plot could do with a bit of editing down for better world building. There is sexy times. While it is about shifting wolves, scent is not over used.

Cute story

This was a cute short story. Entertaining, hot and humerus. My only complaint is the ending was a little cut off and there was no epilogue. Would have liked to see how Mary and Jarrod and the other characters ended up, as well as what happened to Hilda.

A fast-paced, slightly wild story centered on bridenapping—an old pack tradition—with a modern twist. Jarrod Shaw’s attempt to dominate a wealthy socialite spirals into danger and secrets that threaten the entire pack. The narrative combines humor, intrigue, and sizzling romance, with strong pack politics and dark secrets adding complexity. This is a fun, intense read for fans of alpha dominance and plot twists.

This was a good story but I just did not connect with Mary and Jarrod. Their personalities were too soft I think.
They were nice enough in themselves but Mary did not come across as an alpha female, she was not a strong personality or she would not have taken all the abuse she did from her sister. There is being a nice person and then there is being a doormat, as proved when she found out what had happened in the past, she just kept calling Jarrod a liar and hiding in her room instead of having it out with him. I mean her mother was NOT dead and she doesn’t ask or have a go at him for knowing this fact. She just seemed to do very little and was not proactive or take charge enough in my opinion.
Jarrod was not alpha enough. Too much was going on in the pack that he was unaware off, what had he been doing the last few years. He knew his Uncle was not to be trusted but he had not done any investigating into pack business. He had also taken a blood oath about Mary’s mother, WHAT, WHY? Because she was caught shoplifting to feed her booze and drug habit. Really. It’s not like Mary didn’t know this about her mother. It did not make things better for Mary nor did it do any good. A blood oath should be for something important not because her mother was a waste of space. Jarrod would have been more supportive at the time to have told her the truth and stay with Mary rather than not even try to explain himself to make up for the past hurts.
Once he had bride-napped Mary he seemed to just think it was going to happen without too much effort on his part apart from a couple of meals when he tricks her into staying with him so his pheromones get her horny. Mary may have still wanted him but really, very little effort to romance the girl or prove he wanted to be with HER.
I did enjoy Angela and Regina though, fun girls those two.
All in all I came away thinking it was just too tame. This was not one of Georgette’s better books. Not sure what is going on with this series but it is not grabbing my attention.

Ok

OK read. The writing was a little juvenile, it lacked some of the maturity that some of her books have. Story felt unfinished.

Bridenapping has become a popular and approved tradition practiced by Alphas of a pack. Sometimes for political alliances and sometimes for true love, the end result is a permanent bond between a human female and alpha male shapeshifter three weeks after the bridenapping occurs.

Mary Farraday has had a hard life but it's nothing compared to the humiliation she received at the hands of Jarrod Shaw in high school. They say time heals all wounds but for Mary the wounds reopen when Jarrod becomes a client of her sister's business Mated And Matched, a matchmaking service who has arranged his nuptials with a wealthy socialite. Little does Mary realize that Jarrod has never done the expected and that he has plans for Mary.

This is a feel good comfort food sort of story. While there wasn't any real stand out moment for me, I did enjoy the overall presentation and main character's journey to reach their HEA. The adult content is there but doesn't provide any overly stimulating content, if you know what I mean.

As for my issues. Way too many voids and holes in the story line. Basically, parts/scenes in the story that should have been fleshed out, weren't, while insignificant details were. For a story to succeed it has to make sense. For me, this just didn't happen. So, while I enjoyed the core romance and will definitely be reading further installments in the series (Regina) I wasn't overly vested in this existing installment.

As always I devour her books! I enjoyed reading about Jarrod and Mary. I have to say Mary is a little blind when it comes to certain things and people. Her sister mainly. When it comes to her she's a bit of a pushover. She even kinda rolled over once or twice for Jarrod especially when she tried to get him to tell her the truth of things twice and both times she let the moonlight thingy mess with her and she had sex with him twice lol. Dummy! Jarrod was actually so very sweet and romantic wow I even swooned with the poem thing and her favorite foods awwww. I really wanted him to be a smidge tougher cause he is an alpha but there were times he needed to be more forceful with his people and pack and even Mary once or twice. Who didnt love her little cousin Angela? Also, Regina was a pleasant surprise. Surrounding story about the births was great. I really enjoyed the book. Well written but I am surprise neither one confessed to loving each other because we know they did but it wasnt shared with us vocally. :) Can't wait to see what she does next!

Wanted to love it

3 1/2 stars. This book started out light and fun--just what I expected from this author. I'm sorry to say I just didn't love it as much as I wanted to, although I did find it entertaining. I really did enjoy the h. I thought she had a great personality, and was a lot of fun. I honestly wasn't crazy about the H for some reason. I'm all for cocky, alpha males, but something about him rubbed me the wrong way. In the end, I didn't find there to be much actual romance, and I wasn't crazy about the elements leading to their first "intimate" encounter. Also, I noticed I found the suspense to be a little "disturbing". In an upside, I did find the ow to be very entertaining. I think this is a case of one of my favorite authors putting a new book out, and I jumped on it, not really being in the "mood" for this type of story, but finishing it anyway--so I didn't enjoy it as much as I think I would have if I read it at a different time.

If I you thought book one was totally awesome like i did.
You're going to be thrilled with this one. Georgette has
outdone herself with this book. It's witty, funny, and totally
sexy. I loved this book Mary is a very interesting character,
she's sweet, caring and totally lets to many people treat her
badly. Thank god Jarrod dose not allow that. Wait till he sets
things straight. I loved Mary's cousin and the bride Mary is
helping to get bride-napped. Now I know when you start out
you may not believe me, but trust me. Never judge a person
by their looks. you'll make more friends that way. as Mary
will soon find out. now to to ruin this book for you , I'll stop
here, go get this book. It was a pronominal read. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do, they value your opinions too.

Very good

This is a paranormal romance with a side of mystery and suspense. It was very good - I just couldn't put it down till I'd read the whole book! The groom-to-be refuses to cooperate with bridenapping the girl his uncle picked out, who happened to be a rich, snotty, brat. Instead he wants the woman he fell in love with in high school and plans accordingly. There's a mystery behind what happened to break them up and how badly he treated her back then and it is almost the end of the book before we find out the what and why of it. There's also something going on with all the pups born in the last 20 years, the mothers are convinced that the child they birthed is not the child they are given after they recover, and wait till you learn about that!
It's one of those books you want to continue on after you reach the end -WHAT?? NOOOOOO, IT CAN'T BE THE END ALREADY!!

Amazing story within a story- St Clair is an expert at character creating!

I love this author's writing style and it amazes me that her books have depth in them even for short reads- these aren't erotica with no plot - these stories have depths within depths! This book especially has deep meanings and life lessons. You even appreciate the villains and empathize with the female competition for the male hero in this romance

It’s a little heavy for an easy read, though I’m struggling to explain why without giving away any spoilers. There are a few darker elements to this book, that are heart wrenching. And I’m not entirely sold by the ending as once again, everything is wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking.

There are just too many little things that niggle at me for me to rate this any higher. I’m not happy with the whole backstory between the couple. It’s ridiculous. There were other, more plausible ways that things could have played out. Jarrod should have been able to handle things better, even as a young adult. A lot of the characters are a little too ‘extra’ too; it makes them characteristic.

Still, an interesting story with enough heat to keep you reading. If you’re into that kind of thing.

I wish I could rate this book 10 stars

I started to read this book last night and was up all night to finish it. I could not put the book down. It starts off with an arranged marriage for a reluctant alpha. He must marry by age 30 to become full alpha to his pack. But then the author builds in so many plot twists and intrigues that I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. Oh I was so on the edge of my seat praying for a happy ending! And not just for the alpha but for so many misunderstood and unhappy people. Thank heaven the author is not hesitant to write about blood and gore. I needed to read about some shifter justice!!!! Fantastic book!

What an ALPHA...

I love this story. The characters felt realistic. True friendships were made, it had conniving family members that were filled with hatred and greed that it made no sense. You also, had family members and new friends that made your family grow. Jarrod not only made Mary's panties wet but mine too. He remembered all her favorites and even quoted her family poems...that's hot. He was the most romantic alpha male...all you need is the bread to sop him up...juicy. I could be bias because I have not read any book from this author that I did not enjoy.

Riviting, exciting and full of surprises

Wow, this is a very riviting book to read. With mystrey, intreage and a whole lot of misunderstanings and misdirections from so many places. An uncle that wants to stay incharge of a pack at what ever cost it would take. Missing children. Lies told to protect yet very damaging. And most important a love story to rival most others. Well written self-contained story that once I started reading could not stop until I finished the book. Looking to read the fist one next and any others the author writes in the future.

I absolutely love Mary and her snappy banter! Jarrod is a good guy/wolf and you couldn't help but fall for his charm toward her from the beginning! There were some things that were left up in the air like her mother, but I felt like it was okay to just forget about her because she was a horrible person just like Helen. I also couldn't help but like Angela and Regina! They were like two peas in a pod soon and just added to the story!
A fast read with a some interesting characters, but I felt like some things were brushed aside so it only got a 4.

This one was so much better than the first one! I loved the banter and I loved her cousin and Regina together, they cracked me up. I loved the banter, the character and I felt the relationship was better in this one that in the last one. It was built up better and the progression was cleaner in this one and I liked it a lot more. Her sister was a bitch and I really wanted one of the pack members to send out someone to her just so she would shut up, but it didn't happen. I could see myself reading this again in the future as a shot, in between book.

Love the author but the book was okay

I really love this author but this book seemed a bit meh to me. I had some trouble figuring out ow this went on for so long and yet no one caught on. Surely with enough female wolves all having the same issues, there'd be a connection?
Also, I felt the Alpha was a bit too laid back in letting everyone plan his future and getting away with treating the pack like his uncle wanted instead of guiding the pack until the Alpha was old enough to take over.

Run and get this book!

A love story with intrigue, suspense, second chances, friendship, and romance. This book had me laughing and crying. In fact I have stayed up late on weekday to finish this story. A kidnapped bride whose cousin hides away in the getaway car for the adventure. Then the girl who wanted to be bridenapped shows up. The Alpha has his hands full but not just them as they figure out there is big problems with this werewolf pack.
