Even professional killers need vacations, but for Victor Faust, his vacation in Venezuela is about more than relaxation and time alone with Izabel Seyfried. It is a chance for him to come clean to Izabel: to tell her the truth about why he sent her to Italy with his brother, the truth behind his interest in Nora Kessler, and about his knowledge of Izabel’s child with her former captor. But before Victor can spill his soul, reality proves that for some killers, vacations are just pipe-dreams.

Attacked and kidnapped, Izabel finds herself stuffed in a suitcase, while Victor later wakes up imprisoned in a cage. In any other situation, Victor would find a way out and save himself and the woman he loves—but not this time. When the identities of their kidnappers are revealed, Victor loses all hope, and begins the mental process of accepting his and Izabel’s last moments together. And Izabel’s final moments of life.

As if his circumstances are not complicated enough, members of Vonnegut’s Order are finally closing in on Victor. And when they do, he comes face-to-face with someone else he once knew and loved, who could either help him, or make a grave situation much worse. Victor’s past has finally caught up with him: the women he has cared for, loved, and killed; the families he has destroyed; the unforgivable crimes he has committed. And now he must face the consequences, and pay the ultimate price for absolution.

But when it is all over, Victor may not have the strength to pick up what is left and move on. Because the event changes him. Because love changed him. And because, unlike before when he thought it is was for the best, he cannot imagine a life without Izabel in it.

If you haven’t tried this series and love stories that have action, drama, and love, than I implore you to jump in and meet these characters! Fans have been waiting patiently anxiously for this next book in the series since J.A. Redmerski left us all twisted and conflicted in book number five. This book could also be called Victor Faust's Secrets...

”Victor’s past has finally caught up with him: the women he has cared for, loved, and killed; the families he has destroyed; the unforgivable crimes he has committed. And now he must face the consequences, and pay the ultimate price for absolution.”

description

Just as Victor is about to come clean on vacation to Izabel about his secretative past and his confusing actions the couple is kidnapped! Victor’s hand is forced to reveal to Izabel with an audience his past all the while their lives hang in the balance.

description

Victor’s reveals were well written and help Izabel and readers understand him and his prior actions in the previous books. The story propels the grouping of characters further and even gifts excerpts of several books the author has in the works for the series. Fans can expect to read in one sitting so do leave a bit of uninterrupted time for The Company of Killers!

”I believe he loves you, sure, but in what way he loves you is the big mystery. There are different kinds of love.”

I'm not really sure how I can write a review on this without spoiling a single thing. So I will stay away from major plot points and just gush about how fan-freaking-tastic the latest book from the In the Company Of Killers series was.

Behind The Hands that Kill picks up right where The Black Wolf left off. And after getting a lot of questions brought out from The Black Wolf answered, about 465 more have come up after finishing this book. I again don't want to spoil a single thing so I won't say a word on what happens. But I will say this was SO much more than what the blurb lets on. It's a surprise-filled, angsty rollercoaster from the start and I wish I could experience it all over again!

I'm pretty good at guessing plot twists. Actually, I'm great at it. But with this series JA Redmerski never fails to shock the shit out of me. I gasped countless times and didn't see mostly any of it coming. THAT is HUGE to me. My head is still spinning with all the things that happened and I can't even imagine what's to come.

description

This series is one of the BEST series I have ever come across. JA Redmerski never ceases to AMAZE ME, every single time, with every single book. Every installment in this series is so worth waiting for. I really can’t get over her genius and creativity and what it must take to come up with and keep track of it all. This is also one of those series where I completely trust where JA is taking us. I just KNOW each book will continue to top the last.

Also a nice little treat for fans of the series - JA give fans a glimpse into the next 4 books in the series and what their titles will be! (No release dates though. BOO.)

PS. JA if you happen to be reading this, I will give you my first born to get my hands on any of those upcoming books early. Seriously, it's yours. JUST GIVE ME THOSE DAMN BOOKS.

Anyone who has read this series, read this book ASAP. Anyone who hasn't picked up this series yet, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! Trust me when I say you're missing out.

Behind The Hands That Kill was absolutely incredible and I am already counting down the days we can get the next book.

5++ The Change stars!!!!

Evaluating one's life leads to change in one's life.

I should've savored this a little longer to make it last. Once again, it was over too fast for me. I was left in a puddle of mush, being drained by everything that took place.

A break for our favorite assassin couple, Victor and Izabel, has taken them to Venezuela. The vacation doesn't last long when someone from Victors past decides to get revenge.

When a contract from 15 years ago comes back to haunt him, his love will not only be put to the test, but will ultimately change everything for the pair.

Fans of this series are always on high alert for the next installment from these killers. Even though the wait is excruciating, you always enjoy the exciting events that take place within its pages. As much as you try to draw out each twist, turn, and revelation, you cannot help but flip through it to find out what happens next.

As which each of its predecessors, this one was jam packed with nail biting moments, times when your jaw hits the floor, and an overall sense of nostalgia being a part of such an awesome group of characters and intriguing themes.

So in a nutshell...Holy shit! What an absolutely thrilling ride!

We've gotten a little deeper into the psyche of other members of The Order, but Victor has always been somewhat of an enigma to us. He's a cold killer, but in this book we were able to see a little more about how this man ticks. To say that events that occurred in his past were shocking, would be an understatement. I loved getting more backstory into what Victor had been like before we met him in Mexico.

And as always, loved seeing Izabel grow even more. She has always been such a strong character, but I think this one really proves the risks and actions she's willing to take, even it destroys other aspects of her life. I cannot wait to see what happens next with her.

I don't want to give too much away, so I'll start to wrap it up.

If you like a suspense and action filled read, mixed in with a little love and mindfuckery, you have to give these books a shot. They are very addicting, and as of now, there is still no end in sight (YAAAAAAYYYYY!!!). I'm already on pins and needles for the next one to arrive. Can't wait to get more from everyone. It should be another epic journey.

More so than any other books, I would highly recommend this. No contest, it's my all time favorite series ever.

Thank you J.A. Redmerski, for creating these (storylines, characters, themes, lifestyle, and words) that I heart so much!

This was inhale one-sitting reading at it's finest and I'm so happy I was able to read it with my friends Riley and Kennia. Our discussions on this series is my favorite part of reading it.

I also want to stand and slow clap Izabel's character development for a moment. Gurl, I am so proud of you. And you're not even my favorite character. Her conversation with Victor at the end was my favorite part of the book because goddamn, she said some amazing things in there.

Naeva, I am watching you with one eye open always.

Finally we were introduced to the Gemini and omg, yay. I'm there.

The book could have used more Niklas, but I'm ok because this book wasn't focused on him. I'll take those few pov chapters we got and treasure them forever and wait to dissect them further when I get a paperback copy.

Fredrik hugging Izabel. I cried.

I've been thinking of this since I re-read TBW but I am convinced the serial killer Fredrik is hunting is a woman and the sneak peak of whoever the Red Lotus is has me even more convinced that 1.) Red Lotus is the serial killer. 2.) She is a woman. And 3.) She is Fredrik's new love interest. AMIRITE?

I'm thinking I just need to do a booktalk on this book even if it is a 6th book in the series.

J.A. Redmerski never disappoints. Behind The Hands That Kill has her trademark devastating twists, thrilling action, and nail-biting suspense. In the sixth book of In the Company of Killers, Victor’s dark past is brought to light as a trip to Venezuela takes an unexpected turn and his growing list of enemies become a greater threat than ever before.

Can an assassin ever really relax? During a supposed-vacation to Venezuela, Victor is on the cusp of revealing unsettling truths to Izabel when the couple find themselves ambushed and captured by the ghosts of Victor’s past. Their captor wants Victor to divulge the sins of his youth, when he first started on the irreversible path of becoming The Order’s greatest executioner. The revelation of Victor’s once buried past triggers a chain of events that fundamentally alters his relationship with the woman he loves and the people around him.

We see a vulnerability in Victor that we’ve never seen before, but more importantly, we see a change in Izabel that levels her on the playing field against her adversaries. No longer is she the apprentice, coddled by the killers around her. No, she’s a force in her own right.

New allies and old foes, secrets unveiled and relationships shift. The chess pieces are moving. As Victor’s enemies loom closer, each and every killer in his Order has a target painted on their backs. Will Victor choose to be the hunted or do the hunting?

The Boss is coming.

Behind the Hands That Kill is the sixth installment in J.A. Redmerski's dark thriller/suspense series titled: In the Company of Killers. OMG so much happened in this book!!! ...but in terms of progressing the storyline, very little actually happened. But maybe that's OK though. Afterall, we all know whose hands those are in the title and a little focus on Victor is never a bad thing.

Victor's character has always been so cold steel and programmed in my opinion, but pieces of that robotic exterior are cracking and I'm looking forward to seeing what that means. More and more unanswered questions are being added to the mix and A LOT of this book flashes back to the past to allow us to meet other figures who have gotten under Victor's skin, but none like Izabel. Ms. Redmerski has not only provided room to grow for the overall storyline, but also for the characters. Victor is experiencing a new vulnerability and Izabel has never been as strong as she is right now. I can't wait for the next book. She's going to kick ass all over those pages!

My favorite quote:
"Maybe that is the key to surviving change: embracing it, however cumbersomely, or gracefully, one can."

5 ++ Loved It Stars!
This series keeps getting better and better! I was excited that we got more of Victor and Izabel in this one! My review will be short because I'm scared I will give something away.

This one starts off with Victor and Izabel on a much needed vacation. But we all know that Victor doesn't know how to be on vacation. We also know that this book couldn't be filled with birds and butterflies. lol
When the past comes crashing in on their vacation Izabel learns more about the man she loves and Victor's love for Izabel is also tested. Izabel has always been a strong women in my eyes and in this book I felt she became stronger than ever. I love her!
I was on the edge of my seat reading this one. I wish it had been longer. I want more now. I'm so excited to see what the next book in this series brings us.
If you haven't started this series I suggest you do. It's filled with action, suspense and love. It will have you biting your nails while your heart is pounding and sometimes have your mouth falling open! It's awesome! I'll be waiting very impatiently for the next book:))

The wait is freaking over and the Boss is here! The story focuses on Victor Faust a.k.a The Boss, the merciless killer and Izabel's lover. I'm excited and nervous what's going to happen next after that cliffhanger on The Black Wolf. Here, he bares his past and we get to know the real him.

"I open the doors wide to my past, and let in the sterilizing light."

The story starts as Victor and Izabel are on vacation at Venezuela. He has a purpose on that trip, it's his chance to confess everything to Izabel: the secrets he knew about her, the purpose of her mission with Niklas etc.. However, the moment has been interrupted because they're kidnapped by some people who wanted revenge on Victor for the longest time. They are prepared to unleash hell to hurt him and as well as the love of his life.

description

That is one of a hell ride of FEELS. OH MY GOD. DAMN. This series never fails to give me palpitations and I have absolutely no chill for all the surprising plot twists. There are new characters being introduced and I'm curious to get to know all of them. All of them are twisted in their own way, some of them are ruthless and not to be trusted yet.

"No one is immune to change, especially those who fear it. It comes for us first, and it destroys us swiftly because we fight it the hardest."

The character developments are hands down well written. Izabel endured all the pain and yet she survived. It makes her more determined, powerful and confident with herself. She wants to stand on her own feet and I love the direction she's taking in. It might be dangerous but I trust her and she's going to survive it. Victor made a huge transition. Love changed him in some ways. Even if he's not used to it, for Izabel, he embraced it.

I love it and it's definitely 5 stars for me. It's worth my obsession and I'm looking forward for the upcoming books in this series and I'm so pumped to read them all. Those preview to the upcoming books.. OMG. I. WANT. ASAP.
It's going to give me more mini heart attacks.

5 I LOVE VICTOR (VICOR IS MINE, I’ve ALWAYS LOVED HIM) Stars

I love this series like crazy mad. EACH book I get is so unexpected and so different. I don’t know how J.A. Redmerski does it. And she’s so sneaky too with her release dates. Ahhhh all good things come to those who wait.

Behind the Hands that Kill is the 6th book In the Company of Killers series. I’ve been waiting for this book since book two. This is Victor’s story and we get into the gritty and messy part.

This book is not an easy read and it’s exactly why I loved it. Victor has always been one of my top memorable and favorite heroes. He’s the true tortured soul that I’m just dying to open. Gah, we finally get it, all of Victor’s complicated past.

A lot of build up from the previous books kind of all comes together in this one. I REALLY liked that. We get a better understanding why Victor did what he did in the previous books. We know that Victor struggles with his feelings towards Izabel. He doesn’t struggle for his love for her, but how he, the great assassin killer can love.

My heart ached for Victor in this read and many times I cried. Every time we get a glimpse of the man he was, what he’s become and what he plans to do, I was on pins and needles throughout the whole book. I was cringing on his past and future actions. I had no idea where the story would take me and I was reading like a demon to figure it out.

The story goes from past to present throughout the book. In the past we get Victor’s history and what’s he’s done and his current reflections on this. All of his past actions are crazy let me tell you and you will think of him in a different light. Good or bad, I don’t know, but it’s just different.

What I love most about this series is the love Victor and Izabel have for each other. There is never a question of if they love each other, but if it will work out. There are so many underlying complications between them it will make your head spin and it makes for a REALLY good read.

I love how much Izabel tries so hard to understand Victor. The relationship is tested throughout the entire book and I’ll say it again, I couldn’t get enough of it.

I love every book in this series for what it gives me. I feel like I get special glimpses towards each character and I love how each book relates to each other. You will not be disappointed with this book. It will break your heart, make your heart cringe, but leave you with a nice ache

Bitti. Ve. Ben. ELLERİM-BOMBOŞ modundayım.
😭

Yedinci kitabın (Spiders in the Grove) adı var tarihi yok maalesef.

Birde kitabın sonunda seri sıralaması belli olmayan dört kitap başlığıyla küçük alıntıları vardı. Bir an önce hepsini okumak istiyorum.

❝The stars will die before we do, Izabel...❞ She smiles. ❝I know they will,❞ she whispers.

What happens when you read one of your most anticipated books of the month, in months (out of months)?

I mean, what now? I waited. I held on to 'Seeds of Iniquity', 'The Black Wolf' and cherished the release of 'Behind the Hands That Kill'. I read them back to back. Now there's nothing left to do, but WAIT? I don't do the "patience thing" well when it comes to a favorite series/favorite author. I am like a two-year-old who wants her pacifier... gimmeee gimmeee, gimmeee. Quit rolling your eyes, you have your favorite's, we all do, I have several, and J.A. Redmerski and her In The Company of Killers is one of those.

This series is seriously addictive. With each book, a new dilemma and/or character is introduced. There's murder, scandal, and intrigue. OH, and don't forget the sexy times, there are plenty of those. Each character has a book, but each of those books has side character stories so fully developed that you are completely sucked in.

I need to find the nominating committee, the one that is in charge of bringing books to TV. Because In The Company of Killers needs to be made into a tv series. I can see an HBO or Showtime.

'Behind the Hands That Kill' takes up immediately where TBW ends (thankfully) and all of those questions that were left dangling were answered. Victor's past is dredged up like an oil slick in front of Izabel and she is stuck with no way out, forced to face his past along with him. But with answers, come more questions. As Vonnegut is hot on their trail and changes come to Victor's Order, Izabel is changing right along with Victor. However, as Victor faces his humanity, Izabel faces the side she has been searching for, training for and longing for.

BtHTK ended too soon. But it did so with the promise of more books to come. Now the hard part is the wait. Excuse me while I go in search of something to pacify me.

*** Buddy-Read With My Girl Beatrix <3 ***

J. A. Redmerski, I'll accept any direction you plan to take the story, just NO LOVE TRIANGLES, por favor!!!

AFTER READING:

This review is posted on Way Too Hot Books.

"I am a monster in the shadows; the blood of many stains my gnarled hands; the souls of the innocent are forever caught in my blade-like teeth.
So how can this be, that even an ounce of light be given to a monster such as me?"

My biggest fear after I've finished the magnificent previous installment of ItCoK series - The Black Wolf was that the author will turn this one into some kind of melodramatic & soapish love triangle and anyone who's met me knows how much I love love triangles. Or better say despise them. I just can't stand the never ending drama and cheesiness they bring into the stories and I've even given up on some of my beloved series because of this.

But this is Redmerski we're talking about, whose last two installments have literally blown my mind, I still can't decide which book do I adore more The Black Wolf #5 or Seeds Of Iniquity #4, so, as they say- the resistance was futile. I just had to know!

And now I finally know... There is no *beep* love triangle, people!!! (Btw. kudos to you, Redmerski for that.) And yes, I liked this installment for the most part, but there is... ...unfortunatelly a lot of melodrama of different kind which brings me to the biggest problem of this book when it comes to my reading expirience: Just how much mind-fuck is too much mind-fuck???

I know, you never expected me to say this since I always said that dark, edgy, thrilling and provocative mind-fucks are my favorite type of reads and they still are, but here it is. I've said it and I even mean it, lol. Just how much more can you complicate the story and keep hitting us with this new, shocking twists and at the same time maintain the excitement and the most important the credibility of the story? Well, in my opinion, Redmerski had its up and down moments in this installment, maybe even more of the later ones. But that's just me. As far as I've seen most of the fans think otherwise and I repect that.

What I loved the most when it comes to this installment is the introduction of the new characters and their background stories. Victor and Izabel annoyed me tremendously. I think it's time for them to step back and give spotlight to other more interesting, bad-ass characters. Or if not- cut out with the melodramatic crap and bring back the old confident and deadly Viktor & Izabel we love and know. That's why my rating for this book is: 3/5 stars.

No no no no no!!!!

wtf

I apologize for the swearing gif ^^^^^^ but I had to. How could Redmerski do me like this??? This volume was just as thrilling and suspenseful as the others, but it was HORRIFIC!! It was like watching a freaking train wreck and I couldn't look away.

I still love Victor. I do. I think it's because the author led me to understand more about him and his reasoning. I really struggled right along with him throughout the story. And I loved how much he truly loved Izabel. So despite all that was revealed about his past actions, I'm still optimistic about his and Izzy's future together.

Because of the incredible revelations of this volume, The Order will be operating a bit differently and I for one cannot wait to see what the author has created for book 7.

Original review: The Daydreaming Bookworm

Deciding that they are in need of a vacation, Victor and Izabel head down to Venezuela to spend some time together. But this is more than just a vacation. Victor hopes to finally come clean to Izabel about his past and about a few other secrets he’s been hiding. But his plan is shot to hell when the couple gets abducted and taken to an unknown location.

The past has come back to haunt Victor and in order to save the woman he loves, he must confess all his sins. In the end, only one of them will make it out alive. Let the confessions begin!

Behind the Hands That Kill was my MOST ANTICIPATED release of all the releases for 2016. Redmerski announced that the sixth book in the In the Company of Killers series would be a surprise release and I stalked the both Amazon and Goodreads like a CRAZED FAN so I could get my hands on it as soon as it went live. Then, the day came. THE BOSS ARRIVED!

description

THIS WAS ONE HELL OF A BOOK! There was never a moment where things slowed down. There were many times I had to take breaks and deep breaths because TOO MANY things were happening at once. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO CHILL! Redmerski does not spare out hearts!

We finally get to know more about the boss, Victor Fraust, and learn how he became the cold-blooded killer he is today. Usually a man of little words, Victor does a lot of talking throughout this book. It’s CONFESSION TIME and all will be revealed. Each confession takes a toll on Izzy and Victor’s relationship and this maybe the last straw that finally breaks the camels back. I really enjoyed seeing this other, a bit more emotional, side of Victor. We never really knew what was going on in his head and I always questioned how true was Victor’s love for Izzy. But now, there is no doubt in my mind that this man loves Izzy. He is willing to sacrifice everything for her, kill for her and Izzy does not hesitate to do the same.

Izabel is AMAZING as always. She’s is a survivor and puts up a fight until her last breath. I’m actually really proud of the decisions Izzy made in this book. It shows her growth as a character, to want to be an individual who can stand on her own and not depend on Victor to protect her all the time.

There are two JAW-DROPPING plot twists in this book that made me drop my eReader. I can’t believe that Redmerski even went there, although I shouldn’t be surprised. Like I said before, NO CHILL WHATSOEVER!

We are introduced to a number of new characters in this installment. The Stone siblings are completely insane. Although I may not like them, I got to say, they have taken this story in a whole new direction. They are completely wild, lethal, and unpredictable. I’m not sure if they can be trusted but I hope that none of these new characters do anything to jeopardize the lives of my faves, or I may just have to kill them myself.

The ending gave me heart palpitations. Things have gone beyond tense, this has become EXCRUCIATING PAIN! I really can’t predict what is in store for these characters and I fear for all their lives. The next book is going to put kill me, I know it.

description

I anxiously await the next installment in this series. I have a number of theories and I hope things play out like how I think they might because some of these things will be game changers and will lead characters to having to make tough decisions. Also, Redmerski has no plans to wrap this series up anytime soon and I am so excited. BRING ON THE KILLER ASSASSINS. I AM READY!

Victor is the epitome of STRONG AND FOCUSED. Never breaking stride in his pursuit of bring down The Order, Victor has finally cracked to his Achilles heal, Izabel.

His love has weakened his shield leaving Victor and his empire at its weakest. He knows he must end his weakness and face his past in order to save his present and future.

"Evaluating one's life leads to change in one's life. No one is immune to change. It comes for us first, and it destroys us swiftly because we fight it the hardest."

Victor comes face to face with his past head on and the end for him and Izabel are in sight. He knows all his secrets that were buried are going to create a trail of blood he can't clean up. He and Izabel will pay for his darkness.

Izabel knows her life is now in the hands of Victor ' s past and she fights the realization the man she loves beyond words is still a stranger to her.

The past Victor fights to ends, steps in and saves the future Victor never thought possible.

I F@*KING KNEW IT!!!!!!! There is going to be a 7th book titled Spiders in the Grove , which I think sounds very intriguing, but J.A., you are killing me here ;D

I can remember when I first read Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers, #1) by J.A. Redmerski and how I felt after finishing it; and now with the release of this book........this author has a smash hit on her hands.

What a mind twisty, suspenseful, intriguing, stomach clenching read this has been.

I may need to have an elephant sit on me while I wait for the 7th book because this is one of those times where I NEED IT NOW!!!

Series reading order :
Killing Sarai
Reviving Izabel
The Swan & the Jackal
Seeds of Iniquity
The Black Wolf
Behind the Hands That Kill

Turns out that what Victor was up to was really what I feared ... but at least so far his plan has led to nothing?

And to nothing is leading the series, except the addition of more and more soap opera melodrama, shocking melodramatic twists and even more draaama. I'm not a fool, I never expected an innovative or deeply exciting piece of literature here, I quite like some trashy reads and if they add a bit of darkness and suspense to the story even better.

But it must makes sense.

We're supposed to believe that the leader of a bunch of lethal assassins, being an hardcore assasin himself, can be defeated and take down by some dumb ex 'girlfriend' seeking revenge? The same assassin been molded by a dark, misterious and powerful Order, now acting like a drama queen? An Order btw, we barely know a thing about after six book and wich leader, this Vonnegut man, we know nothing about either, even if the main plot now seems to revolve around Victor wanting to take down the man and this big Order?!

I don't buy it.

And of course everything ends on another cliffhanger, with Izabel and Naeva set off to Mexico and all the telenovelas drama I can already sense to come in the next installment.

Bonus point: those little snippets at the very end hinted what could possibly happen on the next books in the series (how many? 4? 6? It could go on forever by now) and . This is not dark or suspence thrilling anymore, it's just peak comedy.

4.5 Yıldız. 🖤
“Yıldızlar bizden önce ölür İzabel... Yıldızlar benim sana olan aşkımdan önce ölür...”

“Otelin en üst katındaki odamın penceresine gittim ve dışarıya baktım ama şehri değil, şafak sökerken hâlâ pırıl pırıl parlayan yıldızları seyrettim. Her birinde onu gördüm, Izabel’i, Sarai’ı... Her şeyde onu görüyordum.
Of… derin nefes alıyorum.
Victor…
Ya sen nasıl bir adamsın? Neredeyse her yorumumda bu adamın iç dünyasından bambaşka şeyler çıkacağını hissettiğimi söylemiştim ve kesinlikle öyle oldu. Yüreğimi parçaladın be adam…
Okuyun, okutturun.

"The stars will die before we do, Izabel..."

Another great addition to one of my all time favorite series. In this book we are focusing mainly on Victor and Izabel. We get to see another side of Victor which was very interesting and explains his character as well. I loved the flashbacks into his past life. It was obvious to Victor that he needed to come clean about his secrets, Izabel deserved to know about these secrets he kept hidden.

There are a couple of new characters being introduced in this book, some of them I hate and want dead and others I am intrigued by. This book is not my favorite but I think it fits perfectly in the series and opens a new can of worms. Both Victor and Izabel go through such a transformation in this book. Izabel was already a very strong woman but she got even stronger in this book. I have so much respect for her. Also for Victor a lot of things happened in this book that were an eye-opener for him. He also developed strongly as a character. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

PS: I am still struggling with if I thought this was a 4 star or 5 star read. Maybe I'll think differently in a couple of days .

HOLY SMOKES ON TOAST!!!!!!

When I tell you I plowed through this, I. PLOWED. THROUGH. THIS. BOOK. I read so fast, I screamed like a banshee because I had gotten to the end so quickly. I read this like the Apocalypse was the next day and I wanted...NO...I NEEDED...to know what happens in the next chapter and then the next chapter with Izabel and Victor.
My heart was palpitating so hard at one point I thought I was going to have a serious heart attack. That was such an intense ride!

I need to go catch my breath, have some more coffee (or maybe start a bottle of wine) and figure out how to write up a coherent enough review where I don't ramble so much.
**********************************************
"No matter what you've done, or what you will do, I'll always love you."

I haven't written a full fledged review for this series since book one, KILLING SARAI. And it's not because I haven't liked the books. On the contrary, I've liked them a lot.(Except maybe the one right before this, THE BLACK WOLF. I'm not a fan of triangles or even maybe triangles.) But this book was WOW! I just HAD to write out a review, even if it is all teasers and me as a blubbery mess. Hours later and my thoughts are still all over the place.
I kept turning pages at The Flash's speed. I needed more. And more. And more. Izabel's and Victor's story was high octane anxiety inducing crazy ass ride.

 photo BehindTheHandsThatKill1.jpg

In previous books, Victor has come off as cold and heartless and a bit even aloof at times. I guess it comes with the territory with trying to be a ruthless killer. "Trying" being the operative word. In this book, there's a change in his self, his psyche even. Being with Izabel has not only made him a more loving man towards the woman he adores, but it has also made him a bit off his game, and in his line of work, that isn't a good thing. Not at all. Having her around is his Achilles tenant, but it could also so be his strength and reason for forging through.

 photo BehindTheHandsThatKill2.jpg

Being inside of Victor's head, and hearing his thoughts and feelings, was like a light in the dark. Even a dim one. We were able to see his internal conflicts between being in the Order, being a brother and a boss, and being the man that Izabel loves. Their love is so deep, and so profound, that they would literally die for each other. And die for each other they almost did. THIS is where my anxiety level went through the roof!

 photo BehingTheHandsThatKill3.jpg

We get a glimpse of the future stories coming up. I was so on edge when the book ended already, that after reading the upcoming tidbits for the next books, made me twitchy and completely clueless in what's in store for Izabel and Victor, as well as for Niklas, Nora, Fredrik and everyone else at the Order.

 photo BehindTheHandsThatKill4_1.jpg

The light has been stolen from my eyes. I don't even see darkness anymore, only nothingness, and the two are not the same. No words, spoken or written, have ever hurt me so much, or cut so deeply; no confession or regret or truth could ever do the damage that this has done.
