About the author

Remington Kane

Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.

Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.

He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.

Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.

The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.

He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.

Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.

By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.

This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.

When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.

Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.

Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.

This is the way I read these...I might have given each it's own review except that Goodreads' new interface, style, look or whatever they prefer is so D--MED UNFRIENDLY, to navigate
I HATE THIS "IMPROVEMENT GR!"

I am refraining from bad woods only by the skin of my teeth and the fear of God. Did you get it?

I HATE THE NEW LOOK!'.

Any way good book/books overall. I think the "arch-enemy+" motif may be running into the ground but I guess we'll see. Started the next 3in1 set and am not enthralled as it seems to be more of the same. Tanner the bad guy who saves people and dose good things (I actually like that part) while being perused by his arch enemy...the same arch enemy. The 2 of them have had multiple opportunities to kill one another but have never managed to do so. Guess we'll see how that goes, eventually.

Tanner is an assassin with a certain moral flexibility that kills for money, but he seems to only eliminate the "bad guys" who "deserve" to die. He is a 3-dimensional character and the stories are thrilling to read.

“I don’t take domestic contracts. The people I kill are all guilty of something, even if that something is just bad judgment.”
Does it ever bother you, the killing?”
Tanner placed his cup down atop the table and stared into Tim’s eyes. “We’re not that different, it’s just that I have a lower threshold than you do.”
Tim swallowed once, as Tanner’s intense gaze unnerved him. “Lower threshold?”
“You would kill to protect someone you love, or to save your own life. With me, the threshold is lower. I’ll kill for money.”

This box set really deserves a solid 5 star rating. Despite there being so many players, I actually found it easy to keep track of them all because they're each so unique and interesting. In addition, Kane has a way of making them disappear when they no longer fit the script or have anything useful to offer. Lots of suspense, great dialogue between the characters, fast moving plot and clean editing all combine to make one very enjoyable book. Looking forward to reading much more by this author.

Did not understand the meaning or purpose of the book.

Did not understand the meaning or purpose of the book. Tanner is combination of Terminator Rambo etc. just a killing machine without any purpose or heart. I kept reading to find something but nothing popped up. Sorry to have started.
I have read several authors who have written about hired assassins which were more interesting than Tanner like Rain.

Made it through book 1. I felt like the storyline was uncomplicated but layered enough to keep my attention, however, not a single emotion was noted in the entire book. It's entertaining in a way, but if you want to actually connect with the characters, go elsewhere. If you are ok with surface-level interactions and want non-stop action and nothing more, this is the book for you.

Assassin

I read this set after a marathon session of the Taken series. While I didn't like Tanner, Books 1-3 as well, it's showing great promise. I'll be reading set two next.
This was a KU library read.

Tanner is a force!

I love reading all things written by Kane and Wells! As soon as I finish one book, I, immediately have to download the next one. Every word written is in anticipation of the next. Tanner is a Whitman, on a level like no other, as you will learn. The people who encounter him, either adore him, or are dead. You spend every second of reading these books, wanting to see what happens next. I will gladly continue on these adventures with him!
If you enjoy action, action, action, and intelligence, while all the action is going down, I recommend these books to you. Once started, hard to not want to keep going. I am intrigued by the author's writing style, it demands you pay attention!
Thank you for all the adventures and the many more to come!
