Masters at Arms
In this short preview, we meet Adam Montague, a 42 year old marine suffering from the loss of his wife, the only woman he loved, and his sub. At an all time low in his life, with not much “sense of purpose” left, he is on his way to report for his next deployment when he comes across 16 year old Karla in a bus stop, determined to run away to New York City to be “discovered” for what she believes is a talent that is at its peak, as a goth singer/song-writer. When trouble in the form of a pimp and his goons comes her way, the young woman, having lived a sheltered life so far, finds herself scared to death with nobody to help her out of a situation that could prove to be her demise. Being a marine in Adam’s eyes means to protect, not only his country on foreign soil, but those who need him, here at home. Will he be able to rescue Karla? Or will this “Master” find himself giving up on life completely?
Warning: Once you start, you’re not going to want to put this down! And be prepared to want more from this extremely talented author.
Nobody’s Angel
Wow! I’m not sure how she does it, but Ms. Masters takes the deepest and darkest subject and turns it into a story that not only will you not want to miss, but will have your heart and emotions ricocheting off the walls, from page one until the last word. Her books are real, and makes you feel like you are one of the characters, that you feel their pain, sorrow, happiness and of course, their love. As the saga continues, we catch bits and pieces of all of the crew, but in this particular book, be are blessed with the struggles, and the “coming together” of Marco and Angelina, two stubborn Italians that have many past hurts that they will have to hurdle, alone and together, in order to find their happy ever after.
I’m not sure it’s possible to not fall in love with these characters, as we follow not only their struggles, but also witness their accomplishments. A beautiful story most definitely worth the read.
Nobody’s Hero
Oh my! When Ms. Masters creates, she certainly takes it seriously, and this is the perfect example. Her style is impeccable and riveting, creating characters that are not only real, but easy to relate to, each with a story that needs to be told and heard. In this episode of the Rescue Me Saga, we continue with the “leader” of the team of so called social misfits, after he finally retires from the Marines. Adam has been more or less floating through life since the death of his wife, almost nine years ago, that is until another female from that era shows up on his stage. But she’s not the same little girl she was back then, and certain body parts are now at war, trying to piece together just how much she’s “all grown up”. But she needs his help, in more ways than one. The only question is…will he be able to give her what she needs? Or will she be destined to love but not be loved in return? Will Adam ever be free from the ghosts of his past?
If you haven’t started with the first episode of this book, I would suggest you do that prior to reading this one, even though it is a standalone. The background you get is definitely worth the read and will only enrich your reading experience, as we are guided through the lives of this special group of men and women, through their hardships and their glories. This series, as well as this author, are most definitely on my top three list! Absolutely brilliant!
Nobody’s Perfect
If ever there was a book that could knock you down, only to bring you back up and restore your faith in love, this series is it. To me, this series is even better than FSOG, which I also greatly enjoyed, as it is so much “real”, as scary as that is. Extremely dark at times, yet completely uplifting at others, Ms. Masters has given us the dark side of life in a way that is easy to, not only relate to, but to succumb. The hardships that her characters experience, and the ways they have mastered their demons, mostly through the tight bond of “family” and the BDSM community, will leave you on an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. Be prepared though, because once you start this series, there is no way you will want to put it down until the last word has been read. This episode is the story of Damian and Savannah, an unlikely pair that battle similar, yet very different demons, and their journey to not only love, but the healing of their souls and bodies. The trials and tribulations that this pair have to endure will bring you to your knees, praying for their lives dreams to be fulfilled.
I am anxious to continue with the saga, hoping to read more of the characters we have gotten to know so far, and to discover new ones along the way. Exceptional read you don’t want to miss out on. Well done!
