Katie wasn’t having the best of times these last few weeks. She had wished that her suburban parents had done a better job preparing for her future. Unfortunately, not even Katie could predict the way her cookie crumbled.

First she’s late to work, which caused her to get yelled at by her perverted boss. Then she gets yelled at by a complete stranger because her hangover did everything in its power to make her miserable.

If she thought things would get any better after that, she was sorely mistaken because she’s now being investigated for murder. She doesn’t get it; sure she played with dead people as a kid. But that wouldn’t lead someone to start killing the living… Right? Maybe she shouldn’t mention that to the investigators.

Will Katie be able to unlock the truth about her questionable heritage of witches all the while working and saving up money for college?
She has hope that she does before her world is engulfed by nightmares. But how can she focus on that when she’s surrounded by her crush, who also happens to have taken a romantic interest in her. Or so it seems.

However, he’ll have to work hard because there is a hot-tempered business owner named Leo, who has teamed up with the younger woman to clear her name. Mostly for his own personal gain.

Who is this mystery man who is trying to whisk Katie away to be his one and only lover? What a complete weirdo. But, if he’s so weird, why is she drawn to him like a moth to a lantern? Great, he also has something that she desperately wants.

All that she wishes to do is to go to bed and sleep all of this craziness away.

Not for me

I couldn't get beyond the 20% mark because the writing was just...not good. The overuse of the word 'some' in most sentences. 'Going to get some work done or going to get some coffee, completely distracting. Also, the annoying way that I am being told what everyone is feeling. 20% in and I still did not hold on until the end.
So two stars for effort and what should have been a good plot.
