Retired spy Agatha Witchley and her fellow agents from the Office are drawing very close to solving the mystery of the faked autoerotic asphyxiation of billionaire Simon Werks.
But, the nearer the group get to the secret reasons behind the murder, the more bizarre, shocking and deadly is the conspiracy they stumble across.
Soon, Agatha and her companions may regret coming so close to the truth... as the final truth could demand a lot more than assistance from the ghosts of Churchill, Elvis and Groucho Marx to survive.
Because when the world needs saving, you don't send for Bourne, Bond or Kuryakin - you better call upon a psychopathic pensioner who doesn't just see dead people. She makes them, too!
The third chapter of Agatha Witchley's adventures finally closes up the Simon Werks murder case. Who had him killed and why?
I really liked this chapter but it really drifts away from the first two. I'm not going to spoil the reveal but the why is all to do with a massive conspiracy theory straight out of the most bonkers sci-fi novel. To be honest I had no problem with the outlandish plot itself, I love an outlandish plot, but it seemed a bit odd compared to the fairly real world feeling the series has up to this point.
As this book focuses so much on the plot we don't get to spend much time with the characters. This focuses much more on Agatha than the first two and that is interesting as we see the old woman put her fighting skills to good use. I was however disappointed by the lack of ghosts for the majority of this book. If you have a main character who can talk to ghosts for goodness sake use that in the plot! It sort of makes the series fall apart a little if the whole talking to ghosts thing becomes a simple character trait rather than a major part of the plot.
An enjoyable read and whilst it concludes the story of the previous two volumes it does feel like it wanders away from them somewhat.
Awesome. The ending to the story. A read that spins you into the bizarre but written into a read that is just this side of believable. Atlantis, machines of ancient power, power hungry moguls and one lone government department trying to stop the tide. A wonderful fast paced conclusion to the story that features our favourite ghost whispering assassin. Can we have more!!!!!!!
